Comments: This is an Excellent baitcaster for the money. I spooled mine with 10lb mono and haven't had any problem at all casting. I Really regret buying my Chronarch when these are only 130 bucks. I opened up the sideplate and set "one" of the centrifugal brakes to "on" and dialed in the spool tension. I have yet to have any problems with this reel. I really like this reel as well as any of the centrifugal casters.

Comments: I bought one of these reels because my buddy got one for his birthday, and paired it with a Duckett rod; wow did it cast. I haven't had that luck, it works great flipping and pitching heavy baits, but it will not cast past my nose. I have fished Abu Garcia reels for forty years and this is the first one I've had problems with. With that said don't give up on Abu Garcia, I'm sure I was due a dud as many as I have owned down through the years.
From: Fuzzy: Kathleen, FL 3/8/14
Comments: This real when u first get it is pretty good for the price, but after a couple of weeks mine started to have problems. The Brakes started to keep popping on so i could hardly cast 20 ft. but then a couple months after i got it i got it dialed in and it casts anything over 7/16 ounces fine. but this thing absolutely launches 1/2 ounce rattle traps a mile even with 50 pound power pro spooled up. But in the long run this is a really good reel for the money once you get it dialed in, had it for about 6th months now and its still going strong.

Comments: I have a revo s 3 gen like a lot of reviews this reel cast stupid far and I see some people talking about putting bocca bearings I did the same never could get it tuned in back lashing more in my option the bocca bearings and this reel don't get along because of the breaking system but this reel on 7 ft MH Veratis or Duckett Micro Magic = one sick combo and performs better than the Shimano Citica just a few more bugs but all in all solid reel
From: Justin: Seabrook Tx
Comments: This reel is my first revo and I must say I'm very impressed. It is so light and yet is so powerful, I throw swim jigs effortlessly on this and it's still going strong! Can't wait to get more revos now. Keep it up Abu
From: Ethan: KS
Comments: I used this withn10lb and 30lb braid for finesse worm and cranking respectuvely. I like it for both, but finessing better. Casts great! No issues for me!
From: JD: Little Elm, TX
Comments: I don't think its worth the 130 bucks. I got it around Christmas time 2012, at first it casted a mile now it casts about 75 feet. going to get some Boca bearings to see if that helps. but kinda disappointed abu
From: Chong: Naples,Fl
Comments: not a bad reel for 129 but my lew's tourny mg is 5 times better and the lew's speedspool is evan better honstly. im not shooting down this reel but thouse 2 Lew's are 5 times better
From: Dale: ontaro,canada
Comments: The braking system has an issue that seems to pop up after a little use. It seems the brake tabs that you have set to OFF will weaken and turn themselves ON. I used to be able to launch a 1/2oz Red eye shad, and noticed my casting distance was crap all of a sudden. Checked the spool, and sure enough the pitch brakes kept breaking loose and turning them selves on. This issue was present in the older Revo S model, so it's disappointing that such a great reel has the same flaw as it's predecessor.
From: Jason: Dandridge, TN, USA
Comments: Decent reel after testing. Better than its former silver model.I own many older Shimanos so its a tough comparison to those. Lews Tourny pro and MG are close in smoothness but the Lews will out cast this reel by a bit. Lews very esy to set up with External antibacklass.I would still recomend this reel though as through initial testing, it seems solid. Will give update after season is over.
From: Mike: Canada
Comments: i cant say im in love with this reel nor that i hate it. A major plus is how super light this reel is and smooth when casting! The minuses are that when reeling back a 1/4 ounce vibrating jig it seems to struggle for some reason. And it feels cheap when reeling in your lure. Plus the spool tension is soo hard to adjust. It seems like it all the way tight but yet the spool is free spooling at times when i engage it. It has its plus but its same share of negs. Shifting it from chatterbait/spinnerbait to topwater since i dont use that much. Need some work ABU.
From: Jacob: Waco, TX, US
Comments: I bought two last fall and loved them. I fished hollow bellies all fall and early winter even in 30 degree weather they were smooth and would cast a mile better than any of my lews.
From: Jason: WI
Comments: I bought this little reel for my dad bc he can't go three casts without creating a new home for birds. I tightened up the new break system and on one of the settings i could keep my thumb completely off and throw as hard as i could without a single thread coming up. I then set the brakes to free as i prefer and could cast about as well as i could with my other abus. Overall, pretty solid reel. If you wanna learn how to fish a caster or just looking for an great feel for the price this is your reel.
From: Zac: IL
Comments: main problem with this reel is that, on occasion, it tries to engage in the middle of a long cast. Very bad grinding noise. I own about 9 other casting reels. This is the only reel that does this. My LH pro max is a more reliable reel and 40 bucks cheaper!
From: Mike: Modesto Ca
Comments: bought 2 of these reels to try out. the first one worked great and was smooth. the other one was terrible, made a grinding noise while reeling and casting distance was terrible. hopefully i just had bad luck with this one, going to return it and try again
From: Gage: IL
Comments: i purchased the revo s and was very please with it Intell I was attempting to set the hook and their was no drag on the spool to even reel in the fish. I try tighting it and it didn't even retrieve I had to bring the line back in with my hands. Very disappointed when I returned it they said that iam not the First return for the same problem.wow I realy love the low profile so I spent 30$ to get the revo sx its sweet.
From: Duke: CA
Comments: I just bought the revo s to match my duckett rod and I must say its pure quality as abu Garcia has always been known for.cast great feels great and looks great. Its a must have for tourney fishing.
From: Martin: Ft. Hood, TX
Comments: Great reel cast 1 mile only problem is that its not good with braid but that's ok I hate braid
From: Scott: New Haven, MI
Comments: I've had this reel for a couple weeks and have put it through the paces. This reel is made for heavier lures. I tried using both brakes settings and adjusting the cast control knob and I get more backlash than I do with my other baitcasting reels. Don't like the new design as I thought I would when I held it and mounted the Revo S-L on a baitcast rod. The big main gear sits too low that I can't get a finger to wrap on the blank of the reel seat. The handle seems and feels small compared to the first Revo S-L. The bent handle on this reel makes if feel small. It almost acts like the first Revo SX-L, I bought and tried that reel out and the braking even though it was magnetic did not work well. The new centrifugal braking on the Revo S-L 3rd Gen, I can't get used to. Abu Garcia should have kept the regular 6 pin like on the original and 2nd Gen Revo S(L). For those who have found that this reel is perfect, I'm happy for you. I guess I'm used to how Shimano baitcast reels feels and handles.
From: Ghost: OC, CA
Comments: Smaller profile than the previous Revos and much tighter mechanism. Love this reel, buying more soon.
From: Scott: Roseville, CA
Comments: Chris get the revo s. I own both and the revo s Is much better
From: Ron: San Jose, CA
Comments: Get a revo s This thing casts so far its stupid, fairly light and comfortable fit, only complaint feels cheap when you reel
From: TP: OC, CA
Comments: This reel was my first low profile reel and it is awesome. its smooth and sleek, casts great, not much info on the braking system but all around great reel
From: Dominic: Ashland, OR
Comments: Hands down Revo S. I own 6 Revo's now from the S to the premier, and soon to the MGX and I won't trade them for anything. Casting is smooth and effortless. I will say out of all the Revo's I own the SX is my favorite. I can outcast all my reels with the SX.
From: Angel: Chicago, IL
Comments: what's better, bass pro pro qualifier or the revo s?
Comments: This is a really nice reel. Chris ive got this reel and ive hed several quantums and i personally would buy another revo s. The quantums fit funny in my hand and this one fits fairly well. Although the Gen 3 revos have a littile different design on the right side than the other versions that im not crazy about, but it seems like a Really nice reel.
From: Will: AL
Comments: Just got one recently for throwing topwater. Pretty much found my new standard reel. Casts great, awesome small profile. I've been a Daiwa fan forever, and still use their product. But unlike some of the newer Daiwas, the Revos have feet that fit into the Dobyns i like to throw. Reminds me of the old Daiwa Fuego for much less, and better gearing.
Comments: can some one help me i cant decide weather to gwt this reel or the quantum catalyst i like them both but can only get one
From: Chris: Tampa, FL
Comments: for those of you who have this reel and the original revo sx in your opinion which reel is beter because the rvvi sx is on
Sale and has more bearings but if this reel has bearing like a shimano than it will be superb.
From: Ian: Prescott, Ontario, Canada
Comments: to answer nate's question definately purchase the revo s. when casting light baits, turn on one or two of the pitching brakes, the citica doesnt have the option of spring and non spring brakes
From: Jake: FL
Comments: I,ve used ABU 4600's for over 25 years, thought i'd never switch. The REVO S has changed that, by far the best reel I've ever used
From: Ed: Levittown, PA
Comments: Quick question! I am trying to decide on buying a new Shimano Citica or a Revo S. The deciding factor is which one will cast lighter baits the best without a problem. I currently own 3 casting reels, but they're for heavier baits/lures. Any input??
From: Nate: East TX
Comments: casts Senko baits and weightless soft plastics a mile, great finesse reel
From: Joshua: Salem, VA
Comments: I've been using the quantum exo for a year now and i bought one of these on accident and these are way better then the exo i am really abu garcia for life!!!!
From: Detroit, MI
Comments: this revo s is just plain awesome. shimano and daiwa watch out. abu garcia back!
From: James: NY
Comments: Not a Abu guy. My cousin let try his out. Wow! Revo S is nothing like the old Revo. Well in weight and design. Got mine a week ago and its all I use now. Guess im Abu Garcia guy now lol
From: Ted: NV
Comments: This new Revo S is the bomb. Matches my favorite Veritas bass rods. Feels way lighter than the old Revo S. Real smooth casting and retrieving. Also like the bent handle. I love fishing with my Shimano Curados. But im starting to fall in love with this Revo S G3. Mite get the new SX or Pro Max for the 7.1.1 gear ratio. For now this Revo S been doing great putting fish out of cover. Best reel for the money.
From: Willy: North Texas
Comments: Great Reel matches my Veritas and is nice and smooth...
From: Rick: Ft. Lauderdale, FL
Comments: This reel is awesome. Not sure, but I think Abu is using better bearings in the new Revos, because this spool lets the line fly. I can't say enough about the new Revo S. Abu Garcia has done it again!
