2012 ICAST Best of Show - Fishing Accessory
The American Premier Ultimate Line Winding System eliminates the inconvenience associated with spooling your casting and spinning reels. Able to accommodate all different spool sizes, the American Premier Ultimate Line Winding System utilizes high quality ball bearings and a super strong graphite frame to create an adjustable spinning axis that spins the line as you reel. This eliminates the twists and inconsistencies in tension that occur when filling your spinning reels, and the spinning axis can also be locked into place when you’re filling casting reels. Gone are the days of having your partner or child stand in front of you, holding a spool of line with a pencil. The patented design easily stores inside of rod lockers or a small tacklebox, allowing anglers to apply line to their reels wherever they go.

Comments: Just used this for the first time on both spinning (Revo Rocket) and baitcasting (Revo MGX's and Steez CT SV TW). Spooled with 150 and 200 yard spools of Seaguar Smackdown Braid and Seaguar Tatsu. Setup took a bit to get it to work properly with the spinning reel. Followed the included instructions and tried using the shims and adapters, and it didn't work well at all. Took the adapters off and had better luck without it. Reeling at a slower pace (slow rolling a spinnerbait) kept all the components spinning in sync. Speeding up, the spool would spin freely and the spool holder would not keep up with its rotation.
Next up, the Steez. I immediately noticed an issue. The angle of the line coming off the top of the spool is so severe that Daiwa's T-Wing spool guide will not evenly fill the reel's spool without holding the line down in front of the reel. Not a huge issue with a single reel, but if you are filling multiple Daiwa reels with T-Wings, wear a glove. The MGX's smaller sized spool guide had no issue with the angle of the line. Line tension is great with this thing (worked best without the shims and adapters).
All in all, I like the design but will reserve this for filling my spinning reels and use another style of winding station for my baitcasters.

Comments: I have used this thing since this spring and feel I can give it an honest review. For baitcasters, it puts the line coming in at a down angle that makes the line have constant contact with the top of the line guide which totally corkscrews/kinks my line - you have to use your hand to get the line down even with your spool in order to load your spool level. Spool of line ends up getting crooked and you constantly have to readjust the spool of line back to straight. This could have been a good product if they would have put more into testing and development. I would only us this for spinning reels.

Comments: I submitted a review previously but it never got published for some reason. I'm posting again with a bit of an update - in my original review I wasn't super-impressed - it worked, but was a bit fussy and really overkill to setup if you just wanted to spool a single reel. Plus, it didn't really handle skinny spools all that well. Since I have some more time with it and it's growing on me. With practice you can use skinny spools, and 1/4 spools work fine of course. Some Sunline (FX/SX) spools wont work at all as they don't have the inner structure in the spool, but they likely wont work with any spooler. Still probably overkill to just fill up a reel, but if you have a few to do this definitely makes it easier and faster, plus allows spooling under constant tension which is a must for braid. So going to to ahead and recommend it.

Comments: This thing is more trouble than it is worth. I don't recommend it.

Comments: Somewhat quirky, doesn't work well at all with the smaller 200-250 yard spools, even using the "adapters". Filler spools ie 660 and up work fine. Lots of moving parts, not really worth the hassle if just spooling a single reel, but if spooling up several I can see the benefit. Haven't tried spinning yet. It does wind tight once setup, but if I had to choose to purchase again I probably would not.

Comments: Fantastic for baitcaster reels which makes up 99% of my reels. I only have 2 spinning reels and have yet to try it on those. This tool has saved countless hours of headaches lining with flourocarbon and braid is just smooth as butter.

Comments: It use to be a huge issue, to get my reels properly spooled. I had even thought about getting a line winding machine. The problem with that, is it wouldn't be able to help me out on the boat. For $32, this little tool has done an amazing job. Tightly spooled reels, no line twist, and portable. When you have the tension knobs adjusted properly, this works perfect, for spinning equipment. This is the best line winding product on the market!

Comments: Doesn't keep good tension on the line. It wants to spin even when the spin knob is tightened. Instructions are very poor. The old Berkley line winding system keeps better tension on the line during spooling.

Comments: Works pretty darn well. Spinning reels are a little challenging with the smaller / skinny spools.

Comments: Works good for baitcasters but have only got it to spin one time using a spinning reel. I think it only works (spins) with larger (600 yard) spools. Also, the bushing that come with it are too think to fit in a lot of smaller size line spools- Stren for example. It does a great job on baitcasters but I really bought it for spinning reels and I don't even use it for those now.

Comments: This takes a little getting use to. After you figure it out works great. It gets the line tight and even. It was worth the 30 bucks
