Overview
The Bass Patrol Deflection Jig features a free-moving, pivoting, swiveling 4/0 VMC hook attachment to the football head, which allows the bait to 'deflect' in random directions as it bumps into any available structure. Similar to fishing a crankbait, the most common time to get bit is during these deflections. They were designed for covering lots of water in a shorter period of time. Large flats with scattered rock would be one example of where to use this lure and technique. Make a long cast and start reeling slow enough to keep in contact with the bottom, but fast enough to keep the bait moving. You'll notice the Bass Patrol Defection Jig is also equipped with a recessed line tie to help protect the knot area from abrasion. Available in several colors, Bass Patrol recommends rigging the Deflection Jig with your favorite creature or beaver-style bait.

Comments: to fish smaller baits I cut off the hook and add two split rings ( wich gives it even more action ) and a smaller hook.

Comments: Extremely stout hook on this jig. I fished with the 3/8 oz version paired with a Berkley 4" Crazy Legs Chigger Craw on the lake that made Buggin' famous. I was in 30 mph winds and fishing in water 1-5 feet. This thing saved the day. It took some time to learn the retrieve speed and how hard you have to set the hook, but I caught some solid keepers when I had blanked in the best part of the morning on traditional lures. I used the same head for 6 hours and was able to pop it loose even on the worst snags. Only thing I wish they had was a smaller hook version for smaller baits. This is the best head design I have found b/c other designs are usually rock fodder after a few casts.
