Customer Reviews

Comments: This rod isn't the lightest or the most sensitive and it is actually slightly tip heavy BUT for some reason it was/is one of my favorite rigs this season and I love it.I wanted a solid MH/F casting setup that was inexpensive and reliable. This rod (7' MH/F) met my expectations 100%. Aesthetically its pleasing and performance wise its great. I have a Daiwa Exceler reel on mine and I have run a few different configurations with line. I got the best casting distance with 12# Yo-zuri Hybrid, I have since switched to 30# braid to fish more brush.I primarily use this setup to throw small-medium sized texas rigged plastics with 1/8oz-1/2oz bullet weights. The rod has a good feel to it and dragging and hopping ribbon tail worms has been very productive. The rod has excellent backbone and hook setting power which seems just as good as some of my higher end rods. The oversize butt on the rod sucks for my vertical rod stand but is very comfortable while handling and fighting a fish. For the price, I don't think you can go wrong with this rod. My only suggestion is to just be mindful of the type of line you plan to run with these guides. Many of the more abrasive braids really limit casting distance. I also like the variety of lengths and actions that are available and I am considering getting a different one for crankbaits.

Comments: I've fished Berkley Rods for 30 years and have heard various negatives & positives about them, but by & large they have a great product. I have two of the 7'0 Med Hvy Emotion rods & used them since late Spring. In my opinion, you cannot beat them for the price. Lets face it. they're not a Duckett or Kistler, but they weren't designed to be either. However this year I've caught more fish with these two rods than I have with my Duckett's or Lew's. No guide issues, no breaks & plenty of sensitivity/power. No complaints. Excellent improvement over the Lightening rod series.

Comments: Micro guides are a loser. Supposed to be easy to send line through. Have had nothing but problems. Won't buy another one unless they go back to regular guides.

Comments: I bought this rod and at first I thought it was great, it was decently light and the sensitivity is good for the money. Then the guides started to break and ive only had this rod for like 5 days. I now understand why its only $80

Comments: I purchased the 7'6" Extra Heavy Rod. It is not the lightest rod I have ever owned but it is pretty light. I do a lot of heavy cover mat punching and I really like this blank for it. Here is what I don't like. The reel seat needs to be moved up 1 1/2 to 2 inches because it is very tip heavy and I can really feel it after a day of punching mats. My other issue is the micro guides do not look and feel very durable and I am concerned they will not continue to hold up. With all that being said, I am going to keep using it in hopes of if I have a problem with the rod Berkley will take care of me like they have in the past with great customer service. I would give it a 7 out of 10.

Comments: Always liked the Berkley Lightning Shock Rods so I had to try me one of these, glad I did. Been out twice with the 7'Medium Heavy one I bought and I'd compare it to a custom rod I have that's 2 1/2 times the cost. (If I remember right.) I like it!
