Perennial powerhouse on the FLW Tour and American Fishing Series circuits, Craig Powers has also been painting and making his own lures for quite some time - even painting some tournament winners for anglers like David Dudley. 

The CP Custom Baits Crankbaits feature have a lot more under the hood than just a bait a guy carved and painted in his garage. Every CP Custom Crankbait is specially weighted and balanced to cast a mile, and each bait also undergoes an 8-layer dipping process to get it painted, sealed and hardened to a lasting finish. The CP Custom Crankbaits also feature a lexan lip, as opposed to the standard circuit board lip on many flat-sided crankbaits. The lexan lips are also clear as opposed to white, which creates a more compact and realistic profile, and Lexan won’t grind down or break as easily as a circuit board lip.  Each bait is personally hand carved and hand painted by Craig Powers, himself.

Series 1 - Designed for covering a lot of water and fishing flats in the spring and fall. The tight wiggle of the CP Series 1 is designed to be retrieved quickly in depths of 2-6ft - making it possible to cast more and cover more water.

It has a tight wiggle and it works well around grass because with that wiggle you cant tell when you’re in the grass. It’s my answer to a lipless crankbait.  It’s a search bait that I can fish to find active fish.” - Craig Powers

Series 2 - Great for fishing cover and just going down the bank, fishing whatever is next. The wider wobble of the Series 2 makes fishing all types of cover in 3-7ft possible. The unique bill design coupled with the buoyancy of the balsa wood allows the bait to deflect from all types of cover triggering those reaction bites.

“People believe this myth that you have to have a square bill to come through cover. It’s not the shape of the bill, but the angle and the pull point that determines how the bait will ride. The Series 1 will hang in cover. It’s not made for that because it has a tight wiggle and the hooks ride down more. But the Series 2 because of the bill angle, rides with its back hook up and the middle hook higher than the bill, so the bill deflects it around cover. It’s great around rip rap, stumps and laydowns.” - Craig Powers

Series 3 - Designed for spring and summer when the fish are holding a little deeper. The Series 3 takes a little from both the Series 1 & Series 2, and then goes deeper. Designed to dive 4-9ft, it's CP's all-time favorite. Its tight wiggle will allow you to cover water quickly, while maintaining the ability to deflect off cover. Great for steeper banks.

Comments: Bought as series 1 in Foil, and was impressed with the lures action.  Bait was small, but cast well and caught fish right off the bat.  The hooks were of poor quality, so I replaced them-however about after the tenth fish I started getting hung about every time I would hit structure--stop to let it float out and nada.  Upon inspection, I found the bait was sinking like a rock.  Not sure (guessing the bait is absorbing water via crack/split) however I cannot see one on the bait.  Good lure, but for this kind of dough I would expect something a little more durable.

Comments: All the BassSoldiers live off CPs crankbaits! Balsa is where its at and CP is a master at duplicating each bait to run the same, which has always been the knock on the original flat side baits, not to mention the paint schemes are money!
