Comments: I am new to the baitcaster world and I purchased the 7.1:1 ratio left handed Daiwa Aird casting reel for my first reel. And I must say that I've had absolutely no problems with this. I can cast very far and the retrieve is very smooth. For this price, I definitely recommend people to pick this reel up. Speachless on how well this reel performs.

Comments: In the midst of trying all baseline reels out there from various companies, I bought one of these. Not a bad reel, but I cannot stand the design of the adjustment on the left side. Your hand will constantly change the brake setting. I fish a lot and it was fairly smooth for a little while then got noisy and rough when casting and reeling. In a nut shell, you get what you pay for. In my opinion, spend the extra few dollars and buy a Lew's Speed Spool. I have a bunch of them and do not have a single complaint.

Comments: this is a good reel for the price i just didnot like the feel of it seems like it was a little small so i am going to buy a lews instead but this is a good real for bigger type lures i guess

Comments: This is a secondary review for my Daiwa "Aird" Reel & 6'6" MH "Aird" Rod.This review is for my secondary Aird combo, First Pike of the season was caught trolling w/ Bomber Long A, 120ft of 30lb braid, after 15 minutes of trolling along a drop-off , I hooked into a nice 25pd Pike, and the Aird combo I was using performed flawlessly, very smoooth and powerful. Best set-up I've ever had in over 40 yrs of fishing. Cheer's, Andy.

Comments: I am a die hard daiwa fan, I have 3 zillions and a couple steez reels. Wanted a couple cheap reels for cranking. These things are junk, casting is very loud and spool would not engage on one of the reels my 2nd time out. Stick to high end daiwa these things are junk!
From: Kyle: St. Louis, MO
Comments: This is a great reel ... high-end features for a low mid-point price. I wrote a detailed review of it here: http://wp.me/p11OHo-Tb

Comments: My first purchase w/T/W, and it was great!, I purchased this reel("Aird"), along w/ the "Aird" rod @6'6" MH, and Boy' what a combo,,I immediately went and tossed my "Ugly-Stick"/Abu Garcia "Kalex" combo into the trash, There Is No Comparison,This reel is a real performer right out of the box, and the rod is so light, you'd wonder how something so light can be so strong. I like to slip-sinker fish for Pike at depths in excess of 80-100ft, and this combo has the sand to haul 20pd plus fish from those depths with ease, No more sore fore-arm, or hearing the rod splinter and crack from the weight, Just Joy!!!, Utter Joy. I loved this reel so much after my first outing I ordered another one, and would do so again, If ever the need arises, but I have a feeling that it won't be for quite some time. Cheer's, and Happy Fishin'

Comments: Purchased one of these after reading previous reviews and it works great. Like one of the previous comments, mine was a little loud at first, but after oiling it up, it's very smooth and casts effortlessly. Great reel for the money and I have already caught a bass over 5lbs at DVL with it. The drag handled it with no problem with 8lb test.

Comments: Great Reel so far. Looks awesome and casts well. Mine was a little loud at first but if you open the sideplate and take it apart and put it back together and spool it up, it is a great reel.
