Overview

The Daiwa Coastal 200HS Casting Reels feature a new inshore design that is comfortable to fish and still delivers the added toughness and increased line capacity you need for fighting big inshore fish, as well, as monster bass. Extremely corrosion resistant, its aluminum frame and side plate keep all of its inner workings in perfect alignment, and its eight corrosion-resistant bearing system (7+1) ensures consistently fluid casts and retrieves. High strength brass gearing material delivers maximum winding power and the longer cut-away 100mm swept handle provides additional leverage when you’re fighting fish.

The A7075 aircraft grade aluminum DEEP spool provides 30% more line capacity than standard 100-size reels, and the advanced Magforce cast control system delivers complete cast control for a wide range of applications and fishing conditions. Daiwa’s TWS T-Wing System aids with casting as well, delivering enhanced casting capabilities for increased accuracy and distance, as well as a more natural, free fall for your lures. Perfect for inshore and freshwater fishing, the Daiwa Coastal 200HS Casting Reels are tough enough to handle the harshest conditions.

Drag system is not goodGot lucky this trip to Venice Louisiana, the big reds were biting. Caught 11 Reds ranging from 37" to 43" along with many 20 lb black drums. This truly tested both of my Daiwa TWS reels. As these big fish made major runs the drag system was very catchy or shall I say not smooth. I never lost a fish but the for the money I spent on these reels, I expected a smooth drag. Will be going with Shimano Trans X for future trips.

Comments: Fastest Corroding reel I've ever owned. Burned up one, and bought another thinking maybe I just got unlucky, NOPE. This reel is simply not suitable for southern California saltwater fishing unless you are prepared to disassemble it after every trip, Daiwa makes many fantastic mag sealed reels, I would recommend those. The fact that this is marketed as "corrosion resistant, saltwater tough" is laughable,

Comments: I bought this reel to fish the surf and harbors in socal in August 2021and i have regretted it ever since. One would think that with the word coastal in the product name it would be able to endure a bit of saltwater use. Nope. This thing lasted a total of 10 hours in the socal salt before locking up on me. I baby my gear so this was not what I expected but the daiwa tech sure did. He told me that this was a common problem with the reel regardless of care and that it is better suited for fresh water. The reel has a ton of crbbs but none of them can resist corroding unfortunately. After getting it fixed the same month I bought it I have not touched it and it lays in slumber in its box. Honestly I am afraid to try fishing it again. This reel left me with a foul taste for Daiwa unfortunately.

Comments: Extremely nice, worth every penny and is a absolute workhorse. I got it originally for my medium size swimbaits but once summer rolled around this reel has no problem flipping smaller size jigs when you want to winch a fish out of cover, very impressed 10/10 recommended.

From: Canon: Iowa 8/7/22

Comments: Absolutely incredible reel going on 2 years of use and just as smooth as the day I bought it. I use this reel for skipping frogs into thick cover and wenching out bass. I also use it for light duty snook. You can't go wrong with this reel

From: Unknown: 7/19/22

Comments: Wonderful reel. Great for frogs and or punching. For the guy who shelved his due to squeal, the inductor got torqued out of center. Pull it out carefully until there is ample tension on the spring and let it snap back into position. It's not a big deal. Keep fishing it.

Comments: By far the best reel I've had for coastal fishing This reel has work phenomenal Against black drum red drum trout Flounder and tarpon Would highly recommend this real to anybody fishing South Texas

From: Moses: Corpus Christi, TX 1/6/22

Comments: This reel was absolute butter.. for the first 2 months. Used it in saltwater, as it is promoted and rinsed it thoroughly after every single use. It quickly went from a 10/10 and my favorite reel (better than the tranx) to no longer usable after about 25 times in the salt. It now makes the most horrendous scream every single cast and only casts about 70% as far as it used to. It is now sitting in my storage box 6 months after I bought it. I've never had a real shit the bed like this one did. Very disappointed considering the price.

From: Scott: San Diego, CA 11/13/20

Comments:Absolutely love this reel, paired it with a Steez AGS casting rod, it's a true show stopper. Great casting distance and the line flows so easily off the t-wing, it's not a gimmick. I also love the larger handle and EVA knobs this reel comes stock with. Heavier reel but it actually balances perfect with the 7' 4" extra heavy rod it's on and it feels like a dang winch when you hook a fish punching. Drag is very strong when locked down and also very smooth when you have to back off to fight a fish boatside. All in all, Daiwa hit a homerun with the Coastal, it's pretty much a more durable higher quality Tatula HD, which is also a beastly reel. Daiwa is quickly replacing my Shimano reels, and that's saying a lot...

Comments:Had this reel for about 2 years now and its absolutely phenomenal. Works just like the day i bought it and i have fished it literally almost every day of those 2 years. Even in the 20 and 30 degree temperatures it stays smooth as silk. Learned to freespool (brakes on zero) with this reel. Definitely wouldnt hesitate to buy another.

From: Jack j: Ypsilanti 11/9/17

Comments: My first Diawa reel ever and it absolutely blew me away! I fish this reel on a 7MH Gloomis glx rod and it is perfect. I have used this reel with squarbills, spinnerbaits, and topwater and it works smoothly. Just make sure that you don't set the reel on 0 because you will get a huge backlash. I like to set it at around 12 to 14. Also has plenty of drag to reel in any freshwater or salt water you want to fish for.

From: Jackson: Oak Ridge, Nc 9/17/17

Comments:Again, this was my first Diawa reel that I was in love with only to find it to give a wicked backlash despite multiple efforts to correct the mess. But alas a revelation. One must notice which way one turns the centrifugal brake adjust knob. If it is set to zero instead of 20 you will run into trouble. After recognizing this rookie oversight I made the correction to the error in my ways. It has now further been refined and it seems I am back in good favor with the casting Gods. Rookie mistake. It is still a zinger and a slinger.

From: Gilldoc - 5/31/17

Comments:This is my first Daiwa reel. Have used mainly Shimano and Quantum in the past. Paired this reel up with a 7ft MH rod mainly for spinnerbaits. First cast out and BAZIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!!! For a second I thought I had a break off and was about to get ticked and start cussing the TWS system. However, after realizing my line was still intact and locating the splash somewhere on the other side of the lake I began to giggle like a little boy in a candy store. Although it did seem to take quite a while to reel in the cast despite the gear ratio, the ergonomics of the oversized handles kept me amused the entire time. A few casts later and I was still giggling and then there was the THUNK! and the fight was on. It was brief. The 4Lb largemouth just got bossed by this reel. It's a zinger and a slinger.

From: Unknown - 4/1/17

Comments:Love this reel! It's smooth as butter and casts a mile. I love the non-slip grips. The TWS really gives your casts extra distance. However, I had to adjust my retrieve with the TWS. I like to feel the line as I'm retrieving, but with the TWS you can't as it'll bump your line out of the groove, thus not allowing the system to spool your line evenly. Aside from this, this reel rocks. The drag has enough power to muscle any inshore fish. I matched this with the DXBass 7' rod, it's a beast on the Bay Bass in San Diego!

From:Geofish - San Diego, CA 3/9/17

Comments:Badass reel. I have a new chronarch c4i that I was using until I got this one. This reel is super high quality. We fish brackish water for specks and reds with occasional black drum and sheephead. This reel outcasts my shimano by 15/20 feet consistantly. I have landed 2 reds over 40 lbs and this reel hossed them up with no problem. Cant say enough good about it and will be buying another as soon as my next reel purchase comes up. Love the long handle and EVA knobs. Good price from tackle wharehouse too.

From: Will: Coastal Louisiana 12/20/16

Comments:Bought this reel for top water (bass) & some inshore fishing. Have used it now a couple of times & really like it. Havent caught a really big fish yet. But so far so good. Seems sturdy & looks damn good!

From: Seb: CA 6/5/16

Comments:Absolutely amazing reel. Large ergonomic reel grips with more than enough drag to yank bass out of the heaviest of cover. Powerful Machine
