Comments: Don't know why there are so many bad reviews on this reel... For the price, it's damn near unbeatable. I've caught numerous fish over 5lbs on these reels and the drag is always smooth & strong, and never is faulty. Casts super far, metal drag star, swept metal handle, large rubber grips, and fairly lightweight for it's size... In my opinion it is THE BEST reel you can get for under $100. No contest.

Comments: i dont know why people hate it so much i have this bait caster  in right handed on a Wright & McGill Skeet Tessera Cast Rod 7'6" Swimbait/C-Rig    10 lb suffix braid its a good setup i love it alot not that much back lash and its not noisy at all

From: Brian: CA

Comments: I am very disapointed with this reel I bought last month to you. Is very noisy and like other's say it is necessary to oiled before and after each use. The drag does not work well , I lost several fish(more or less 2 Kg) because the drag could'nt andle with it.

From: Joaquim: Portp, Portugal

Comments: got this reel even after reading the bad reviews, was a waste of my time. i used it for spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and buzzbaits and i returned it after using it once. like previouse reviews on this site said its really noisy and grinds on retrieve, which i didnt think would bug me at all but it deffinatly did! i returned it and got the $10 more pflueger purist and i love it. i would only reccomend this to people for their starting baitcastor. its a good starter reel.

Comments: This is an awesome reel for the price, mine is smooth, casts amazingly, and can flat out handle fish.

From: Josh: Columbus, OH

Comments: great reel for deep crankbaits.  the 4.9:1 ratio makes this reel a work horse.  got it on a veritas rod and it makes for a great combo.

From: big g: Winchester, TN

Comments: Pretty much a piece of junk since the first day I used it. Lubed it up well before the first use, but the gears are "clunky" and seem to be put together cheaply. My biggest gripe is that the reel sometimes fails to engage correctly before a cast, but I have learned to tell when that is going to happen. I haven't lost any fish due to the reel, but it is a pain in the butt compared to my other higher priced Diawa reels.

From: Chris: Pell City, AL

Comments: this reel is awesome and i love it, i have the 6.3:1 ration and i use it for crankin. the only thing you have to do with this is lube or grease up the gears and it will be an animal!

From: AJ: Mattoon, IL

Comments: Lube it before you use it the first time and keep it lubed as you would any normal reel. For some reason they don't come well lubed out of the box.  Do this and you will have a workhorse of a reel at a great price! It is a smooth casting reel with plenty of power to get the job done.

From: Justin: Manning, SC

Comments: Very noisy retrieve. Sounds like it is breaking. I love Daiwa reels, but am a little confused.. Thank you TWH for having it anyways, very speedy shipping.

From: Joe: Maryland, USA

Comments:Not pleased. The reel is not smooth at all. Good reel overall, but if you're willing to pay $80, pay $20 more and upgrade to a better reel.

From:Justin: Lake Jordan, AL

Comments:Great reel for any angler, perfect for someone's first baitcaster. Very reliable, I haven't done any maintenance in 2 years and it works just like a pulled it out of the box.

From:Matt: Huntington, PA

Comments:This reel is a work horse. I own two and plan on buying two more.

From:Zach: Illinois, USA

Comments:Just bought 2 of these on sale for 45.00 each, not too bad at that price. Like another poster said, they need a little lube at first but after that worked pretty well. Feel about the same as the Basspro extreme which is the same price.

From:Mike: Erwin, NC

Comments:I own two of these reels and they are great! I've landed several large fish over the past two seasons with no issues. I own several Abu Garcia REVO STX's and Shimano Curados but I always find myself picking these up. They pitch and cast light lures well. Magnetic cast control rivals my REVO STX for $79.00. Not sure why but they need a little lube out of the box and a little more often than my other reels. With a couple extra bearings these reels could be stellar.

From:Jimmy: Dallas, TX

Comments:The Daiwa Exceler is not bad but noisy, very disappointed, guess I'll stick to Abu Garcia.

From:Rick: Royal Palm Beach, FL

Comments:What an amazing reel. Don't be fooled by the price becuase this is as tough as those expensive reels. I bought one late in the season and only had a chance to use it one day. Now I own 3 of them and I cant wait until spring!
