Comments: This reel is great ...at first. I bought two of these almost a year ago and they'd been performing pretty decently until about a week ago when both reels, began to have the same problem on the same day. The reel would no longer trip and you could keep cranking the handle but all you can hear are the gears slapping at each other and not catching. Problem is not lubrication or maintainence, I oil my reels every month.

Comments: This net is not worth the money first off it is heavy and the worst part, crankbaits and even worms hooks get stuck in the webbing not worth the money move on.
From: Bruce: Pond State, NJ 6/17/14
Comments: I have used this for about 8 months and it works great. Couple days ago I caught a 7.5 pound bass on it using a black and blue jig. great reel for the money

Comments: This was my first baitcaster and I've had it for about 3 years now. I've used it for everything from flipping to finesse stuff and it gets the job done for a recreation fisherman like me. As long as you keep it oiled and lubed it performs great in my opinion. My only problem with it was when I had about a 4lber on with a 5xd Crankbait the spool locked up, but it's been fine ever since.

Comments: This is an excellent reel, and you cant beat it for the price as well! This would be an excellent starter baitcast reel and i feel like it will out perform most $100 price range reels as well. I definitely will be purchasing more of these reels in the future.
From: Wes: Seminole, Oklahoma
Comments: This reel performs very well for the price. The retrieve is smooth, and casting distance is good. My only complaint is the location of the magnetic break dial: when you palm the reel, its easy to accidentally change the setting, occaisonaly leading to a backlash until you get used to not bumping it.
From: Ryan: IL
Comments: this reel is garbage. For some reason the line (12lb p-line fluoro) keep on getting stuck on the inside of the spool. Feels crappy and drag isn't all that great.
Comments: this reel is not bad i like the way it feels it is smooth and cast very well for the price you can buy a few of them
From: Dan: New Bedford, MA
Comments: Got the left handled model of this with a 7' Aird rod. I am a novice at best with baitcasters, but got this rig to throw small swimbaits for spotted bay bass in SD Bay. After dialing in the cast control, I was able to throw lures down to 3/8 with only one minor backlash all day. My reel was not noisy at all. Smooth, and nice drag. Good reel.
From: BV: San Diego, CA
Comments: Affordable and Reliable, Aside from bieng loud on the retrieve no problems with this reel, well worth the money.
Comments: Stuck the 7:1 version on a buzz bait rod, and then moved it to a 6' custom wrap made as a "sniper" blade rod. Its a good reel, reliable and smooth. For the $60 range, its great. Caught lots up to 6-2 with it so far. The main issue thus far is the cast control. It uses the same setup as my Fuego, but its fairly easy to move the dial on a cast. For blades this hasn't been a big deal, but it took some getting used to. Otherwise, no loud gearing or noisy level wind teeth. Great for the price.
Comments: Great reel casts like a dream little noisy but overall a great reel with an awesome price!
From: Ryan: Temecula, CA
Comments: Really nice reel for the buck, casts far and feels smooth. The only thing that bothers me is that my index finger rests on the magnetic brake dial when i palm it, and sometimes i will accidentaly change the setting. If it holds up I will probably be buying another one or two.
Comments: I bought me 2 of these reels on Amazon. I only paid 47 dollars each. Man did I get a good deal. These little reels are about the size of the curado 50 series and I promise you they will cast as good as the curado. It's hard to find a descent reel for 50 bucks anywhere. When I first used the reel it was kinda loud in the gear box. I got back home and tore it down and oiled it up reel good and now it is quiet as a mouse. If you have a young fisherman who needs a good reel, get him one of these Laguana reels and you will have a fishing buddy for life. Great little reel and you can't go wrong.
From: William: Hohenwald, TN
Comments: this reel is amazing for the price but the only thing that daiwa could have improved is the shape of the drag with it u can't loosen and titan it as much but overall it is a pretty good reel.
From: Mission Veijo
Comments: AMAZING. this real is small and compact amazing reel for the price recommend for anything
From: Matthew: League City, Houston
Comments: This reel, for the price, is pretty sweet! It casts well and far...Has great control over a fish, it's sturdy, easy to use and cheap enough you can buy a few and not feel broke...It's not my Steez, but for the price it's worth having for a sidekick everyday reel!
From: Shark: Where Blue Angels Fly, MD
Comments: For 60 bucks this reel simply can't be beat. A nice feature you will not find on other reels at this price point is a clicking drag star. As easy to palm as the Shimano Citica. Not blingy, but simple and satisfying. The only knock I have is no free floating spool which makes it a little more prone to backlash. I also upgraded the bearings to ABEC 5's for an extra 20 dollars. When my Shimanos burn out (if they ever do), I will purchase more of these to replace them. And with the new Daiwa rods under a hundred bucks, who needs to drop 3 to 4 bills for a nice set up?
From: Mark Spokane, WA
Comments: GOT THIS REEL IN OCT 2011 AND LET ME TELL YOU ITS NOT BAD ,NOT BAD AT ALL ONCE YOU GET IT SET UP ,THE GEARS GET A LITTLE ROUGH FEELING BUT IT CAST LIKE A DREAM JUST PLAY WITH THE SPOOL SPEED A LITTLE IF YOU GET BACKLASH SET MAG DRAG AT ABOUT 7 TO 8 IT REALLY WORKED WELL FOR 60.00 DOLLARS.ANY ? Comments: I bought this reel for cranking at Bass Pro Shops a couple weeks ago. I've only been using it for shallow square bills but so far it has performed well. I spooled mine with P-Line CX 10lb and the only problems I've had have been backlashing which is infrequent but when it happens, it's bad. I will buy this reel again.
From: Nathan: Saginaw, MI
Comments: its a great reel for the money i have not backlashed it. its very smooth and has a great retrieve diawa keeps making tough reliable reels and this one sure fits the criteria. ive bought 4 of them and the are great, especially on the new diawa airid rod.
From: Travis: Moore, OK
Comments: Great reel ive had it for two weeks and i love it but it takes a little getting used to the setting because it is pretty easy to backlash
