Customer Reviews Back to Top

Comments: The reel is very smooth winding however, the drag is nowhere near smooth. I don't know if I got a bad one but the drag on my $60 Shimano is better than this reel's and it's not even close when talking about my Pfluger Supreme. Anytime I have a decent fish, I have to open up the drag a lot, just to be safe. It hasn't cost me any fish YET, but I feel it may just be a matter of time.

Comments: This reel is smooth, and sensitive. I own two of these, and will buy another. The guy complaining about the bail failing is due to him closing the bail using the handle instead of closing it manually with his hand. You should ALWAYS use your hand to manually close the bail.

From: D. Wise: Los Angeles, CA 5/25/14

Comments: Sorry, but you shouldn't close any spinning reel bail; but turning the handle.  That isn't good for ANY brand spinning reel.  Your reels will last much longer if you close the bail by hand and your line will also lay better on the spool.

From: Joe: Dixie

Comments: This is my second one in the past month and both had failure in the bail. After a full day of fishing on the river on both when I would cast and turn over the bail by turning the reel handle the bail would flip to the middle just above where you adjust the drag and never completely click over. I'm a big Daiwa guy and always have been, but they missed the mark with this one. I agree that the reel is super smooth. But, there is no reason for a reel and company of this magnitude to drop the ball on a simple bail problem!

From: B: TN

Comments: Amazing reel for the price, its light and has a really smooth drag. I own the 2000 and its paired with a samurai 203, its mad. Well done daiwa

From: Joel: Australia

Comments: Don't hesitate  buy this one. Very smooth reel with a good drag. Mount it on a "13" rod and enjoy.
