Daiwa Megaforce THS Casting Reel

A classic reel that just keeps getting better, the Daiwa Megaforce THS Casting Reel features a modernized and improved Twitchin Bar. This allows you to pull in up to 7-inches of line with each push - for the ultimate finesse fishing and slack line retrieval. Daiwa also added additional corrosion resistance, so the Megaforce THS can perform in brackish and saltwater conditions, and its 7.3:1 gear ratio delivers lightning fast retrieves for a variety of applications.

A solid one-piece frame keeps all parts in perfect alignment, and its seven bearing system (6BB+1RB) ensures fluid casts and retrieves. Cast control and back lash prevention are also taken care of courtesy of its Magforce Z cast system, which offers optimum anti-backlash control for the experienced angler - allowing the spool to start faster and spin longer.  Covering all the bases and them some, the Daiwa Megaforce THS delivers consistent performance you can count on.

Customer Reviews

Comments: used for about 3 months and nailed some monster rainbows and on the first day of bass season after about 10 casts the bearings started to grind not worth it

From: Cameron: Spokane, WA 8/25/15

Comments: This would be an ok reel if not for the build quality. While I found the twitchin bar useful for twitching and as a way to quickly engage the spool, I eventually had problems with the entire reel that I attribute solely to failure of the gears/mechanisms tied to this bar. For the life of the reel, I've had 65lb test braid on it (used mostly for jigs), and have loved the casting ability. The thing picks up line very quickly, but I always felt it lacked smoothness when reeling in (I have a much cheaper Daiwa that is ten times smoother). After using for a couple of years, it has become almost unusable due to constant grinding and lock-ups while reeling normally, and the twitchin bar has become useless and rattles simultaneous with the grinding.  Spend an extra $10 and get a Lew's Speed Spool.

From: Carlos: College Station, TX 1/17/15

Comments: Had this reel for about a year now and it works great. Its on a Fenwick rod, great for bass. I use it more than my ambassador unless im striper fishing.

From: Dan: Gore, OK 9/20/14

Comments: This is a cheap reel and can break easily, I've had two. But man have I nailed some big bass on it. Use it with weightless senkos and have nailed several 5 & 6lbers! I just sit back smoke my blunt and twitch! Woolah instant fish!

From: Jim: Chicago, IL 6/19/14

Comments: I really love daiwa products so when i bought this reel i was expecting it be be very great. I had some bearing problems within a week of using it. Its a little cheaper so i guess you get what you pay for. I would go with a abu garcia silver or black max for the price if you cant afford a nice reel.

From: Makay: UT 6/7/14

Comments: Bought this reel and within the first month the bearings went bad and I had to junk the reel. Do not purchase this reel. Just buy a Lews Speed Spool. They are three times more dependable.

From: Travis: Chicago, IL

Comments: The twich bar broke in a year but 4 years later its still running strong. Good pricing and cool paint job. Great starting reel for newbies

From: Ted: CA

Comments: Ive had this reel for about a year, still works great. twitch bar works great for throwing frogs and jigs. suggest getting a berkley amp rod with makes a get set up believe it or not.

From: Lucas: Minneapolis, MN

Comments: Ive had this reel for 2 weeks now and its works pretty well. At first the twitchin bar was hard to push but now that its been used its soft as hot butter. Casting distance is the same as my pro qualifier. Not bad, but I'd save my money and get a Lews or something of higher cost that will last longer.

From: Tristen: NC

Comments: This is without a doubt the worst reel I have ever owned. I will never purchase a Daiwa due to this reel.

From: Craig

Comments: Had the reel for about 2 years then some how the twitching bar gear messed up and locked up the reel. When I would reel, the bar would come down and I could only reel as far as the twitching bar would role. I took the reel apart and pulled the whole twitching bar out and now I use it for top water with 20 pound braid and it does ok now.

From: Casey: Corner, AL

Comments: not the best reel.. u really have to click the cast button with force so that u can cast.. if not it makes a loud grinding noise.. makes the reel sound cheap.. then it backlashes on me.. the twitch bar is really useless.. dont think i use it when im out on the water.. not the type of reel for a beginner fisherman.. look elsewhere..

From: Tony: MN

Comments: the first year i had this reel, it was ok, except for the cast button was having some problems. i was not impressed with the casting distance, or the smoothness. the twitchin bar is very cheap, it breaks easily. then after that broke, the gears got screwed up, and the reel no longer works.

From: Timothy: Milwaukee, WI

Comments: this reel never would perform as i expected it too. its not smooth and unless you are throwing big crankbaits you cant cast this thing further than ten feet. i am dissapointed in purchasing this reel.

From: Bryce: CA

Comments: this reels very good, very smooth, its hard to get birdsnests, its an all around great reel. always use braid on it floro or mono gets tangled. plus, if you dont push the button down far enough, when you cast, it grinds and makes a sound. its the best reel i own.

From: Kenden: Wind Lake, WI

Comments: Since the original got such horrible reviews, I figured I would be the guinea pig and purchase this reel.  I bought this along with a Tierra and tested them out side by side.  In terms of the smoothness of reeling, it actually feels a bit smoother than the Tierra.  However, if you spin the handle fast and let go, it doesn't really keep spinning freely while the Tierra does for a bit.  I messed with the twitching bar for about 5 minutes straight and it was smooth and functioned flawlessly.  I paired it with a Team Daiwa T 7' 6'' H Flipping and Pitching Rod and tied on a 3/8 oz jig.  This reel casts far and smooth.  I'm pleased with it so far.  I guess it's a test of time to see how well Daiwa beefed up and redesigned this reel.
