Customer Reviews Back to Top
Comments: Daiwa should have call this reel PX Type WOW. I was looking for a casting reel to throw light crankbaits for trout fishing, specifically Dynamic HD lure weighting 1/10 oz. I read a lot of reviews mentioning that this reel will throw light baits but was still skeptical. I finally made the move to buy it and all I can say is WOW! This reel is basically just a spinning reel in casting form. If you're having doubt about it throwing light stuffs don't even trip, this reel will throw light stuffs with ease. I can't say how light of a bait it'll throw but I can assure you that bait 1/10 oz shouldn't be a problem. It throws light stuffs just as good as a regular baitcast throw medium to heavy stuffs with no backlash. I paired my reel with a Loomis cr841 and it's an excellent combo for trout fishing, my Loomis 1000 Sustain spinning combo is taking the back seat....no regret in buying this reel at all.

Comments: This is the baddest reel. Its performance excels when casting light lures. Almost makes a spinning outfit obsolete. Unless you have one, you won't know what you are missing. Tight tolerances, smooth drag, durable, and light. There is a reason why Daiwa has kept this frame for about ten years. By far my favorite reel, and extremely versatile. Worth every penny.

Comments: Well, if you're reading this review, you're probably beyond help, so just go ahead and spend the money bro. I didn't think a Steez could be beat, but this Pixy is unbelievable with no tuning, right outta the box. I can now d-shot and throw 1/16 oz darters and flick shakes with casting gear. No more line twist and taking up room in the rod locker -- the stinking spinning rods are at home waiting for a day of trout fishing with the kids.

Comments: this is an amazing reel. if u r willing to spend the bucks, do it and if not then that's just another one for my arsenal

Comments: I've read many reviews on the pixy reels and to be honost didn't believe the great things I read. Finally got one and boy was I surprised! I could cast a 1/16oz wacky jighead with a 3" senko farther than my spinning gear! Even when the senko fell off I could still cast the 1/16oz jighead a decent distance on 8lb fluro!

Comments: I'm a lightweight reel fan with a number of Steez & Core 50MG set ups. Upon arrival I spooled the PX Type R with 8# InvisX Flourocarbon, put it on a Kistler Z-Bone LE 1 M rod and tossed it with baits ranging from slightly less than 1/16 oz. up to 3/16 oz.! This set-up performed superbly. I had a Steez 103SHA on this rod and was happy with its performance as a light lure setup, but now it seems the PX Type R will take over this duty. Many use a spinning set-up for 1/8 oz. or less lures & I have a couple of nice spinning rigs but I always prefer a casting combo. If I were choosing between a Steez & a PX Type-R, I would choose the Steez for all around work, but the PX Type-R for lightweight lure duty. This seems to be exactly what Daiwa had in mind when designing these reels, go figure.

Comments: I have imported 7 PX68's from japan thats how much I love them I will be ordering 4 of these today they are that good and this one isnt a stripped down version its the same as the jdm model oThanks Daiwa) I have 5 pixys all made to pixzillas as this line of reels are simply amazing and then some! This reel and some ABEC9 bearings on the spool and you can go as low on lure weight as your rod will cast.. The reel is not the limiting factor on lure weight with this reel the rod is!
