Customer Reviews

Comments: Picked up a 6'6" Medium from TW a couple of weeks back for short range spinner baiting. The rod is beautifully made, with excellent finish and wraps. Unfortunately, the weight range for this "medium" action rod is a bit off. There's no way it's going to live up to the 1/4 to 3/4 ounce range...it's more of a medium lite at 1/8 to 3/8 ounces, and even that's pushing it some. With a 1/2 ounce spinner bait the rod fully loads on the retrieve, and it's overtaxed. I've been tossing 1/4 ounce baits and have caught several bass up in the 2lb range. Throwing 1/4 ounce baits the rod handles nicely, loading just right for the cast with plenty of power in the lower section to stay in control when a fish is hooked. Bottom line: sweet rod, but try before you buy to be certain you're getting the proper action you want.

Comments: This rod essentially replaces the Team Daiwa S rods as Daiwas budget rod. I have the 7'4" "frog rod" and I must say it is lighter than my 7'3" 13 envy. This is mostly due to reel seat and lack of recoil guides. The blank on this rod is thick and is fairly thick on the other models I have personally held. It is pretty sensitive for a budget rod. The actions and weight ratings are accurate. The guides are a little large, but 5 years ago nobody would have noticed.
