Daiwa T3 Ballistic Casting Reels - $249.95 to $269.95
Daiwa went ballistic with the features and performance they loaded into the T3 Ballistic Casting Reel. Featuring Daiwa's proprietary Zaion Carbon construction, the Zaion material delivers the lightweight strength and rigidity of magnesium, while also retaining excellent corrosion resistance. This allows the T3 Ballistic to weigh in at only 7.8oz, and also excel in brackish or saltwater conditions.
The T3 Ballistic also features Daiwa's revolutionary T-Wing SiC Casting System. During casting or free-spool mode, the cover (at the front of the reel) lifts up and the upper portion of T-shaped levelwind creates additional space for line to more freely come off the spool. This ensures significantly less friction than a standard levelwind which forces line to funnel through a narrow opening. The result is much longer, more accurate casting, as well as a more natural fall from your lures. When the reel is re-engaged the cover closes down and guides the line through the narrow portion of the "T" levelwind, winding line like a traditional levelwind and providing the best of both worlds.
Daiwa also included their new Magforce 3D Cast Control System, which offers 20 fine tuning increments in 3 modes (Max Brake, All Around & Long Cast), yielding 60 stages of complete cast control. Available in blazing fast 7.1:1 or 6.3:1 gear ratios - the Daiwa T3 Ballistic Casting reel continues to push the levels of baitcasting performance and technology.
Additional Features:
-Ultimate Tournament Drag System
-Aluminum Swept Handle Arm
-Free Floating Spool
-One-Touch Open Side Plate
-Low-Profile Quick Clutch
-Rugged, Six Point Drive Train Support
Featuring Daiwa's revolutionary T-Wing SiC Casting System for greater casting distance and accuracy, the Daiwa T3 Ballistic Casting Reels offer lightweight performance and the latest in casting reel performance.
Comments: Tony, I know what you're saying about the handle. I thought the same. Then I got a lexa 100 and noticed that the handle would fit on the t3 and it turns out to be the same handle that comes on the 8:1 ratio and limited editions...such a better fit and transforms the reel. Its bigger and badder. Call daiwa... $18 plus $4 for shipping. I know, it shoulda just come that way, but you are right... you paid for the t-wing and the Zion.

Comments: Pretty disappointed at this reel. In my opinion the reel itself didn't feel cheap, the handle did. For a $250 reel i expected more from this reel but the only thing you're paying for is the t-wing system which makes hardly a difference on casting distance. However, the T-Wing system did work, but didn't make much of a difference. l think Daiwa focused too much on the T-Wing system on this reel therefore taking away from what matters the most. Out of the box it was noisy, didn't feel solid and was not as smooth as other Daiwa Products.

Comments: Excellent reel. I have had quite a few baitcasters and three really stand out as far as casting distance is concerned. These 3 being this reel, Quantum Smoke and Shimano Core. I tend to lean more towards the Core as a benchmark reel as far as sheer casting distance is concerned. This reel is on par. You don't have to wail into a cast to achieve the same distance and also "mini" backlashes are minimal. It really sucks to pull out line each time you cast to remove "small" backlashes. This is what I look for specifically when trying friends reels or my own. The longevity of the cast, ease of cast and minimal backlash when the reel is running on the utmost minimal braking this reel is a Stallion. It may not look good for some then again you may not look that good either, might even have "women" tell you that you look and feel cheap since 250.00 has devastated you. This is a dam good reel. Don't listen to the kids posting here.

Comments: I got a heck of deal on this reel. The reel is slick in design, and comfortable to hold. Very sleek profile. Casts like a dream, definitely more smooth when casting and I get great water coverage. the T-wing system is definitely a smart innovation. If I had the money, I would get another.

Comments: this reel really does cast like a boss! Zaion is essentially carbon fiber...its not metal, and doesn't feel like it. Its light and feels more like plastic, but its not cheap feeling... I have other reels that are newer, and in the same price range. I just like having multiple choices, but every time I pick this one up... I say "wow!" Now, I haven't cast everything out there, but I can tell you this is an awesome reel! Everyone that says its junk, or feels cheap...sounds ignorant to me.

Comments: Been using these reels heavily for a year in south FL on tough inshore fish like reds, snook, jacks and smaill tarpon. No problems. They have held up well to saltwater and mean fish. Still cast great, good drag.
Comments: This reel sucks. If you wanna spend money on a good reel. Look at the Steez and Z200.
From: Joey: Cali
Comments: I don't agree with the comments about this reel feeling "cheap". The Zaion material is certainly different, but not low quality. I'm pretty psyched about it! If you're worried, don't be. If your still worried, go pick one up at your local shop and hold it yourself.

Comments: I just received 2 of the 100HS Ballistics...wow! I had to put it on the highest settings for the most braking because the line just flies off the spool! I used it for flipping and it will just skip under docks and trees like crazy. I think the aboves reviews above of the cheap feel are a misunderstanding of the Zaion material it is made of. It's a lot stronger than plastic but lighter. That may feel "cheap" to some, but to me it's more technology and quality from Daiwa.
From: Derek: Spring, TX
Comments: Horrible reel. Feels like a dinky cheap plastic reel. Went to pull it off a rod to sell it and the rear reel foot was broken off still stuck in the reel seat of my rod.
From: CA
Comments: Bought 2 of the T3's, garbage. The reel feels cheap and the top of the reel will close with a slight touch, causing the main gear to strip. Will be selling both and buying Zillions from now on.
From: Andy: NE
Comments: Bought this reel thinking that the new levelwind technology had to be a can't miss. This reel casts a mile but the whole reel really has a cheap feel to it. It's awesome to cast and a cheap POS once you start to reel. If you're going to spend the money go with a Zillion. I've had a Zillion for 5 years now and it still is the smoothest reel I've ever used. The T3 is a great concept packaged in a cheap reel. Wait for the more refined future models.

Comments: The T3B is quite honestly the best reel in its price range. Id take it any day over any of the competitor's offerings, hands down. I was skeptical of the t-wing at first, but it makes a HUGE different. The 3D breaking is very convenient and easy to use. It casts light lures no problem, on par if not better then the Sol. If you upgrade the spool bearings you will be amazing at what this little thing can do. You can pretty much spool yourself when using larger lures.
From: Daniel: NC
Comments: The T3B is my favorite new reel. I have given it hard use on inshore species in Georgia and Florida and found it to be a tough and stylish performer. I believe that it will become the new darling of reel hotrodders over it's service life. A great new real by Daiwa and the sweet spot it the 2012 plug caster's battery.
From: Forrest: GA
Comments: I bought this reel about 2 monthes ago, at first I was a little skecthed out, once I got used to this epic reel, I could not put it down, it will cast the smallest lures my rod can handle incredible distances, some times 2 far but I cant complain about that.
From: Steven: Deep South Florida
Comments: I got this reel for christmas and I am expremely happy with it. It casts a mile with 50lb braid and is very smooth. You can throw just about any bait with it with the huge amount of cast control settings and the Mag cast 3d one makes everything cast a country mile. You will not be disappointed with this reel and I highly recommend it over other reels in its price range. The Revo STX, Premier and the curado e7 are not as good as this one so pick one up and it will amaze you.
From: Trevor: Orlando, FL
Comments: Just got my T3 Ballistic today, and I have to say, I am very impressed. It is very compact, handles well, and is extremely comfortable. I look forward to fishing with it
From: Joe: International
Comments: I used this reel today and all i can say is amazing. The casting distance on this reel is great and with all the different settings you can say this is an all around reel!!!
