4 year update4 years in of ponding bass and pike with this reel and it's as smooth as new, and looks great too. I fish 120 Whopper Ploppers, Chatterbaits, wake baits, and 6"Magdrafts/6.8" Keitechs, and 168 S-Wavers. Solid as a rock.

Previous Feedback

Comments: I purchased one over a year ago at this point and I've had no issues with it at all. It's super smooth, casts a mile, and the components all feel quality made. I fish braid to leader and with an FG knot I've had no issues with the TWS. All that being said, the reel is a bit bulky. It's not quite as low profile as my Curado but other than that 10/10.

From: Juan: California 8/18/23

Comments: Tough and functional, Tatulas have taken over my fishing boat! I am finding that even though I first preferred them for flipping and Texas rigging, they are well suited to cranking and other techniques. I am slowly replacing a lot of old favorites with the Tatula series.

From: B: Kentucky 8/18/23

Comments: Not completely backlash proof like all the youtubers say, but once it's dialed you can almost spool yourself on a cast and not have to thumb it. I was also throwing 1/8th oz stuff on it easily, knowing it's not technically designed for it, just to see if I could do it. The only real issue I have is I regret not buying two of them.

From: Unknown: 4/22/23

Comments: This is truly a sleeper of a reel....at least it was too me. I use left-handed. I am right-handed. Right hand dexterity is preferred for palming the reel and seat/rod. Not debating. Everyone has their preference. I used right-handed reels from 1990-2010. Daiwa. I know you understand there is a market for slower and faster reels for left-handers. Make it happen, please. I bought this for a 1-3 oz glide baits. Use 20# copoly. Have used this reel on a Dobyns Kaden 735 and the 7'3" Tatula swimbait rod. Have used this for 110-130 ploppers. 1-1.5 oz wake baits. Can't wait to get another one for braid flipping applications, test out a 7:3:1 for certain bladed jig situations, and working out weedlines in moderate grass with 20# flouro with various jigs and stroking big free rig baits such as bull flats/bellows gills. Time will tell, but I'm hoping this can replace higher-end reels such as Zillions and Curado/Antares DC for many applications aside from lighter-casting plastics and DC bomb casting. Oh. If you like Steez A's, but need a heavier reel to balance better on your preferred rod, this Tatula 150 casts 3/4-1 oz baits almost as well as the Steez A. Now, you go plus 1 oz, IMO, the Tatula 150 casts better. I play with all high-end reels. Overall, this thing is steel that can be a replacement for a lot of high-end reel applications.

From: Dan: Illinois 10/25/22

Comments: A work horse of a reel. Casts like a dream fits well in my hand. I use primarily as a frogging reel, but it'll cast anything I tie on. I bought this after a similarly priced reel malfunctioned and was an absolute nightmare. This being my first Daiwa reel, I'm wishing I had bought two.

From: Vern: Upstate, NY 7/26/22

Comments: Best reel in this price range. I have a Curado reel, but I prefer these Tatula over the Curado. Great braking system and the t-wing makes a big difference. When I'm just flipping out a lure, I can really tell the difference between this reel and a reel that doesn't have the t-wing. The line just comes right off the reel much easier. It is easy to dial in and I can cast this into the wind all day without issue. I have some that are over 4 years old and work like new. One thing you should know is that the line guide has a much tighter tolerance than a typical reel with a round guide, so if you cut out a tangle and tie your line back together or use a leader, that knot may not fit through the guide depending on the line diameter. If you like to tie a braid to fluro leader, you'll want the knot to stop short of the reel. I use 30# braid to a 17# fluro leader with an FG knot and it doesn't go through the guide. Not a deal breaker for me considering the cost and how great this reel is but definitely something to consider .

From: Doug: Iowa 6/14/22

Comments: Best value in the Tatula line of products. This reel will introduce you to the "T" wing system at an affordable price. Then, you can explore some of their other offerings to fit your taste and budget. The "T"wing system is a design that delivers the results. Stop reading this and buy one, now!

From: M. : Alachua, Fl. 4/2/22

Comments: From the first time ive used a daiwa reel ive been obsessed! Super smooth, the casting ability is next level i have countless people that fish with me ask what reel im using and durable! I fished abu garcia reels before and they would hurt my hand after a long day on the water ive recently sold all my other reels and own strictly daiwa now!

From: Josh: Belleville, ON Canada 3/22/22

Comments: So for the past 25 + years I've been a Shimano fan of baitcasting reels.Ive been a long time fan of daiwa spinning reels since the early 80's and I've always enjoyed the quality that they have brought to the Industry. About five years ago I decided to switch my cream colored chronarchs out for new reels and I said self I think we need a change.Along comes the tatula CT,not a single complaint. As far as the Tatula 150 goes, its heavy lifting will be chatterchickens and larger sized top waters. The reel is perfect for the palm, line capacities are great for those bigger pound tests.I am not much of a reviews type guy,but its hard to not praise such a great company and innovation.

From: Stephen: Kalamazoo, MI 2/27/22

Comments: Great Reel. Casts a long ways! Farther than Revo SX. Big spool in case you want to spool larger or more line. No problem fitting in my hand and I ware medium to large size gloves.

From: Unknown: 2/21/22

Comments: Awesome reel, smooth as butter and cast like a dream. Will be purchasing more!!

From: Richard: Birmingham, AL 1/26/22

Comments: This reel is absolutely phenomenal. It is smooth like butter and cast extremely far. The only issue with this reel Is that the braking system is on the outside and sometimes can move if your hand hits it wrong. Overall 10/10

From: Ruiz: Riverview, FL 12/12/21

Comments: I was an Lews reel man for years but I had some trouble lately so I decided to give the Tatula a try from all the good things I had heard about this reel and I was not disappointed at all and the 100mm reel handle is an advantage, wont wear you out and is smooth.

From: Mark: Columbus, MS 10/29/21

Comments: Great reel, use it for swimbaits. Have not had to make any adjustments on this reel. Cast great right out of the box. With swimbaits the longer the cast the better. I can just about cast out the whole spool with 16lb seagar invisix on it.

From: Dustin: Newnan, GA 10/3/21

Comments: Absolutely flawless. I have two Tatula elites and bought this for my froggin setup. Casts just as well as the elite, smooth as silk and performs wonderfully. I am definitely a Daiwa fan now.

From: Glenn: Unknown 10/2/21

Comments: I have been very happy with this reel so far. I filled it with 50lb braid for frog fishing snakeheads in South Florida canals. These fish require long casts with small frogs like a ribbit or horny toad. Once you make the cast you pretty much instantly engage and then buzz the frog back along the surface. These fish are aggressive, pull hard and make a beeline right back to cover. I fish a locked down drag the reel has handled it well and is a steal at the price. The spider decal is a little corny but functionally it works great and I've already landed my PB snakehead on it on my second trip using it.

From: Robert: Broward County, FL 10/1/21

Comments: This may be one of the most solid gear choices I've made for angling. The action is super smooth, and makes casting enjoyable, whether it's heavy braid or mid weight flouro, the brakes get you dialed regardless of lure weight. Very aesthetically pleasing on my 7'13 Fishing Omen Black 2.

From: Matt: Denver, CO 9/29/21

Comments:  Wanted to give this reel a chance based on how well the Tatula ct performed. Overall it's a good reel, and i'll keep it in rotation but prefer the curado.

From: Unknown: 8/23/21

Comments: Have only used it a half dozen times. Have it spooled with .015 copolymer and use it for deep cranking. Casts distance is great no backlashes. with the 5 gear ratio it winds the deep baits right in.

From: Unknown: 8/23/21

Comments: I have only used the reel a 1/2 doz. times. But I'm very impress with it so far. casting distance meets my slightly more expensive reels. Once dialed in I have not had a backlash which is not the case with my other reels. Even in the wind it performs. I am using it for cranking.

From: Unknown: 8/9/21

Comments: I put this thing on a Mojo 7'6" MH/mod-fast rod, and it belts baits farther than anything else I own. Very smooth operation, and the t wing feed is super satisfying to see in action. The fit and finish are excellent and it feels very solid. It's actually somewhat larger than my Curado K 200, so if you're looking for a little palmer reel I would recommend something else.

From: Andrew: Virginia Beach, VA 7/25/21

Comments: Not brand specific...excellent reel makes me feel like I know what I'm doing with a casting reel....like a pro. I have the high end stuff too, but just buy the reel you'll love it!

From: Michael: Ormond Beach, FL 5/18/21

Comments: Without a doubt the BEST fishing reel i've ever owned.  I have had shimano curado's including the K and the DC.  I've had multiple reels from Lew's, and finallly Johnny Morris Carbolite 2.0's.  Hands down this reel is honestly way way way better than any of those.  I made the mistake of turning the Spool tension knob before reading i shouldn't do that.  But I simply set it to the point where I just removed the side to side play and left it there.  I set the brakes on 1/2 and made an easy overhand cast.  Holy Schnike Batman this thing was amazing.  I think my Curado'are good reels, as well as my lews collection, but this reel cast quietly and smoothly farther than any other reel I own.  It went a mile and I didn't even push it.  As the day went on and the line got used to the reel it continued to be amazing.  Smoother, longer and fast to retrieve.  It's amazing and after a week of use I can foresee getting rid of all of my Shimano and Lews Reels.  I am officially a Daiwa team player now. No questions I have never been so impressed from a simple change in gear.  Please buy this reel, you will not be unhappy.  Outperforms by a Long shot. Happy fisherman from North Carolina, home of the Heavy Hitters Tournament on the MLF.

From: Brian: Hillsborough, NC 4/19/21

Comments: The Daiwa Tatula casting reel 150H is super smooth and casts great!  I spooled up with 15-pound fluorocarbon. Once I adjusted the spool settings, I can cast 1/4 to 1/2 oz baits without any backlash tangles.  Great reel!

From: John: Pasco, WA 4/3/21

Comments: The best frogging reel on the market, BAR NONE. I own 7, they cast a mile, and have gotten every fish I've hooked up in the thick stuff back to the boat, without hesitation. These are also an amazing flipping reel, as that larger handle really gives you the power to winch them out! Beautiful reels from Daiwa, and after 2 years, they're still buttery smooth!

From: Lincoln: Minnesota 1/3/21

Comments: Great 150 size reel. Super strong frame, and the drag is really strong. When needed that drag is super smooth too. Casting is smooth, and really easy to get great distance. It has that magical Daiwa smooth gearing, and has the power for heavy baits and strong fish.

From: Unknown: Long Island, NY 1/2/21

Comments: I bought the Tatula for my son. He has 4 of them now and really likes them. I've used them a couple of times and find them to be extremely smooth and effortless to use.

From: Unknown: 1/1/21

Comments: Decent reel for the price, however the drag loosens on it's own during use and when a fish hits, it is so loose, that there is no traction to reel in the fish. This has happened repeatedly and gets to the point that I can't trust the reel. I am constantly reminding myself to double check the drag tension, but still I lose fish to this. Very frustrating and reel is just outside it's one year warranty, so there is a cost for service, which is frustrating since this problem has existed since I bought it, but it took awhile to confirm it wasn't user error. Still love Daiwa, but if this problem is widespread, I would stay away from this one.

From: Unknown: 11/16/20

Comments: Great casting reel. This reel is so smooth, after three seasons of being fished hard it's as smooth as day one. I used to use it as my chatterbait reel, but have since switched it over to my swimbait/glidebait reel. I have it on a Dobyns 735, which makes a great set-up for R2S 168, and big Keitch with a beast hook. Great reel for lots of applications.

From: Unknown: 10/29/20

Comments: Exceptionaly smooth reel. Casts farther than my Curado but for some reason I still prefer Shimano. You can't go wrong with this reel though. One thing about this reel is that if my lleader knot hangs up on the t- wing. I can eliminate thisProblem by shorting up the leader. I do highly recommend this reel

From: Unknown: 10/17/20

Comments:I love this reel. It casts a mile and the was smooth even on hard pulling Stripers. I all ready ordered more.

From: John: California 9/30/20

Comments: If you fish daily, this is what you want in your reel! It operates highly year round, and has great internal parts that will keep on going unlike other cheaper reels. I fish the nasty stuff in Florida andthis is becoming one of my favorite set ups. Only downfall is the T-Wing system won't pass leader knots very well, so if your using leaders buy something different! Overall I give it a 9 out of 10 rating!

From: Tony: Central Florida 9/25/20

Comments:I bought two of the 6.3:1 Tatulas for my deep cranking set ups. I've been out three times with them now and so far they are incredible. Very smooth and cast a mile. The big brass gear makes them seem solid even when I'm throwing a DD22 all day.

From: Brandon: Bulverde, TX 6/6/20

Comments:Don't waste your time with this reel no casting distance at all better off buying a shimano curado for the same price

From:Eric: 5/31/20

Comments: Note: Casts "above average" distance for a new reel at this price, but did not cast what I would consider a "country mile".This reel is so smooth-- I love it, unfortunately I have to return (exchange) this for another. The design and location of the brake system knob is horrible-- almost every time I palm the reel following a cast (use for squarebills), it adjusts the brake system a click tighter. If I am not paying attention, it gets tightened all the way before I know it. Some might call it user error, but I have been palming reels (with the external dials) for 20 years, and never had this problem. If you don't palm your reel, this is a great reel.

From: Scott: Kentucky Lake 5/3/20

Comments: The Daiwa tatula 150 is one of the best reels out there! Have had this reel for about a year now and it's worked for a great flipping and pitching reel. Although one thing you need to take into consideration is tying flourocarbon leaders, the t-wing system doesn't allow the knot to pass through the guide on the way in. But if you don't tie leaders it won't be a problem and I highly recommend this reel!

From: Jack 3/23/20

Comments: I fish in South Florida off of high bridges and use this reel for bumping a 1/2 ounce jighead with a rubber shrimp tail most of the time but also use this reel for flairhawks and lured ranging from 1-3 ounces. I target snook but have caught all sorts of other species including bonefish, tarpon, snappers, and even a 22 inch red grouper.

I absolutely love this reel. For the type of fishing that I do, it's critical for the reel that I use to be loose enough on the drop to enable my 1/2 oz jighead/shrimp tail to swim/sink freely while also being sensitive to the point where I am able to feel when it hits bottom and jig it back to the top of the water column to let it sink again. I have not used a reel that is more sensitive than this one or that never backlashes when you adjust the settings correctly for the bait that you are using.

I have caught about a hundred snook in the last year (biggest was 42.5 inches) but also just about everything that's on the bottom of the very high bridge that I fish regularly including a handful of bone fish, mangrove snapper, red grouper, and a LOT of tarpon.

The drag is as smooth as I have experienced and has performed close to perfect with 40-80 lb spiderwire invisibraid and power pro super slick 8 that I've used on the reel.

My only issue with the reel is that I wish it held more line than the150. This past week I ordered the 200 bc I like 150 so much but wish that they made it in a 300 version.

From: Hunter - Martin County, FL 8/24/19

Comments:I just bought this reel and was very impressed.I use it on a 7' 11" St. Croix Legend Glass rod to throw deep diving cranks like the SK 6XD, 8XD and 10XD and it works as delivered. A very good reel for deep cranking and fits in well with my other Tatula SV TW reels.

From:Unknown: 6/21/19

Comments:I can honestly say I was BLOWN away by the performance of this reel. I've used Quantum, 13, and Lews all my life. After seeing all of the commercials while watching MLF I thought I would give it a try. The Tatula is the smoothest casting reel I have ever felt. It handles big baits very well and small baits even better. From casting small crank baits to casting a C Rig it can do it all! I loved it so much I already bought another and will be adding the 100 next!

From: Michael :Greeneville, Tennessee4/24/19

Comments:These are fantastic reels. They cast amazingly well and are easy to set up. Solid as a rock and very comfortable. I really enjoy how smooth these reels feel under the pressure of reeling in a lure or a fish, they stay smooth and strong. I'm used to the 6.3oz reels, so it feels a little heavy in my hand, but not so much when I am actually fishing. The long handle and grips feel amazing too.

From: Monty12/20/18

Comments:I'm always torn between who makes a better reel Daiwa or shimano . After having used this reel for a few months now - I'll say daiwa now owns the $150 grade reels . This Tatula is amazing - not one flaw . Could easily be sold as a $225 reel . Highly recommend/ you won't regret this reel - I mainly use this one for square bills & jerkbaits

From: Dean:Las Vegas 11/14/18

Comments:First off this is my first Tatula, I got it for cranking, jerkbaits. First impression, nice palmable reel and looks stunning. It reels so smooth, much smoother than my Casitas or Fuego ct. The T-Wing guide is so nice and allows me to cast a Spro crankbait a country mile with little effort. The Spool took almost a entire 200 yd spool of 12lb red label which is what I wanted for cranking. After a day on the water, I have to own more tatulas this the best reel under 200 and I highly recommend it. Shell out the extra money to get the reel and you will not be disappointed. I will be changing all me reels to tatulas.

From: Evan:WAYNESVILLE, NC8/29/18

Comments:Overall, reel is complete money! Works great in all areas. Drag is smooth and strong. Reel feels good and sturdy in hand. No slop at all and butter smooth.Spool is deep and wide enough to hold whatever line you choose from braid to flouro. I owned a few other reels from Abu and Shimano and this by far has outcast and outperformed them so far. TWS is such a nice feature, I wish I could add it to all my reels. If you are thinking about buying this reel, DO IT!!! Worth every single penny. Daiwa has got it at this price range.

From:Bounthavy: Fresno, CA 8/27/18

Comments:Bought one of these reels and I will have to say, this reel casts a mile and a half. Love the larger spool along with the larger handle to have the leverage to pull these big bass out of cover as well. Daiwa keeps kn impressing me. I used to be a Abu Garcia fan but now, I'm changing to Daiwa.

From:Hunter: Oxford, AL 7/21/18

Comments:One of my favorite reels, hands down.....T-Wing system casts a mile and the drag is smooth as butter. My older Tatula 100 has been fished very hard for one year and even in saltwater for bluefish and striper without a single hiccup and I can only expect the same for this reel. For the price, I'd argue there's no better baitcaster in this price range. Just grab one, you wont regret it

From: Blake:CT 5/2/18

Comments:Ive always been a Shimano guy but always wanted a Daiwa Reel so I pulled the trigger on this one!! So glad I did!! Casts a mile and is so smooth I can't believe it.Going to buy another!!!
