Daiwa Tatula Spinning Rods

Delivering lightweight, sensitivity and power, the Daiwa Tatula Spinning Rods are monsters when it comes to performance and price point. Featuring Daiwa’s revolutionary Zero G Design blanks for a feather-light feel that defies gravity, the rods deliver precisely tuned actions and tapers for a range of bass fishing actions. Incredibly sensitive and strong as well, the Zero G Design features Daiwa’s exclusive X45 SVF (Super High Volume Fiber) Graphite Technology.  The X45 Bias Construction of Zero G resists twisting for greater strength and hook-setting power, and the Super Volume Fiber technology packs unidirectional graphite fiber into a denser form with exact resin control for greater strength, lighter weight and incredible sensitivity. Also equipped with durable Fuji Alconite Ring Guides for improved casting, lightweight Daiwa Custom Reel Seats and EVA foam split-grips round out each rod and provide a comfortable, balanced feel.  A whole new species of rods, the Daiwa Tatula Spinning Rods deliver the advanced performance that has made Daiwa a legend in the fishing world.

Comments: the first one i got was the 6'11" dropshot model. daiwa makes absolutely no mention of the fact that it has a solid graphite tip unlike the steez and looks almost impossibly thin. the rod, as it turns out, is wonderfully light, balances well with a 7 to 8 ounces reel, and sensitive. the tip is soft, very flexible, and unusual to say the least. started catching bass on it immediately and have had no issues at all. i also got the 7'2" medium-heavy/extra fast model. it only weighs 4.4 ounces but feels like a broomstick and should have no problems hauling the big ones out of the weeds and slop. my only gripes with my two tatula spin rods so far are: 1) the metallic trim around the foam is orange and does not match the thread on the rod which is a lighter, greenish gold color. 2) even when i tighten the reel seat down as far as i dare, there's a small gap between the two handle sections. 3) the daiwa logo on the split portion of the handle is just awkwardly big.

Comments: I got the 6'11" Med Lt for Christmas and the tip broke on the first trip out with it.  The top 6 or 7 inch portion is very thin which allows you to cast light lures.  Daiwa claims that the rod will cast down to 1/64oz but I have to disagree.  I tried throwing 1/32oz trout jigs and had a very hard time even with 4lb Izorline XXX. Even at first glance the thin tip caught my attention and after landing a few 2lbs bass the tip broke WHILE I WAS CASTING the drop shot.  I will send it back and look for something else.
