Customer Reviews

Comments: I have the 765CB Glass, 805CB RM, the 806CB & I just ordered the 804CB. Dobyns cranking rods have no equals in the retail market in my opinion & I own/use almost every major brand of cranking rod out there - including the Loomis GLX series. Dobyns rods are built like tanks, are of impeccable quality & are built using great components. It's the components & attention to details that really make a quality rod successful. I love the full cork handles, sensitivity & balance. Their glass cranking rods are awesome as well. Crankbait fishing is my favorite technique & I'll rarely even carry soft plastics on my boat during the summer months. I highly recommend these rods for anglers who demand quality and durability and for a price that won't break the bank.

Comments: If you like to throw Magnum crank baits, smaller glide baits, and umbrella rigs, the 806CB is for you!! Killer rod!

From: Ryan: Gilroy, CA 4/6/15

Comments: The 705 CB Glass is my favorite Crankin Rod for Square Bills and medium running crankbaits. The feel and cast-ability is unreal. The tip really prevents the fish from throwing the bait.

From: Z. McNeel: Allen, TX 3/2/15

Comments: The Champion 765CB is an awesome lipless crankbait rod. Great for making those long casts and covering lots of water. Works awesome with ripping those traps through the grass. Loads up nicely when a fish bites to prevent ripping the bait out their mouths.

From: Richard: Leesville, LA 2/18/15

Comments: I recently got the 704cb. I truly feel this rod was built for the vision 110's and jr. I can't quite explain it, but for some reason I get better action when jerking with some slack in the line. Great rod, truly an advantage.

From: Dustin: USA 12/6/14

Comments: The Dobyns 704CB has compelled me to finally write a review.  This rod's sensitivity + action + overall feel delivers fish to the live well.  In short, this rod continually impresses me with its sensitivity plus enough power to pull a fish away from cover while at the same time having the ability to keep fish buttoned on those close to boat surges and jumps that come with hard baits.  A Great rod for small to mid size cranks most jerk baits and many top water baits. Buy one and see how many times you find yourself tying your high confidence hard baits to it. God Bless our Troops

Comments: Just got the 684 .Was worried it may b alittle whippy .was i wrong this rod is a saber.A complete xtention of my arm.Great 4 all ur jerkbait needs rouges /pointers/ slash baits/visions this bad boy is as lite as a feather & as strong as a ox ! definitly helps improve ur jerkbait fishing

Comments: I started out with the 705 for throwing cranks like the the DT 10 , DD 22s, SPRO DD 70, LC Flat CB 20 and so on. The 705 is great for the DT 10s not for the heavy cranks, so I got the 805 and it's amazing for really big cranks like 1oz or better (e.g. Strike King 10 XD or Manns 30+ or Randy MacAbee 1 oz crank) but just a little too much rod for DD 22s, and then I got the 765 and found the right fit for those DD 22s. Overall the whole cranking series is amazing but you will find certain rods are a better fit for certain cranks.

From: JF: NYC,NY

Comments: Great rod.  I just got the 705 for throwing square bills and it's perfect not to soft not to stiff, super light and sensitive and the cork is amazing.  Great rod for a great price.  Will be getting the 684 for jerkbaits come winter time

From: B: MO

Comments: There's nothing bad to say about this The 805CB fit and finish is amazing, it casts a mile, you can feel everything the lure is doing, and even cranking down to 15 feet with a 3/4 oz. the rod does the work for you and after a day on the water your arms don't feel like noodles. Dobyns customer service is top notch too!

From: Brandon: Troy, OH

Comments: Great rods, love the 704cb for Vision 110's and other jerkbaits. The 705cb is a great rod for Vixen's or Shorty Shower Blows/ Square Bills, very versatile crankin/ topwater rod.

Comments: I want to start of by saying the only rods I will buy from know on are dobyons,I never had any of there cb rods, Wow I was missing out I purchased the 804 and 705glass and I cant believe how balanced and lite these rod are and they can cast your crankbait a country mile ,Buy them you will not regret it.

Comments: Just got the 705 cranking rod and absolutley love it, its super light and sensitive great for throwing DD 22, DT 16 and Dt 20s. Just an amazing rod.

From: JF: NY, NY

Comments: these rods are insane! they should come with a warning though, you will be so spoiled by these rods nothing else will ever come close, i own powell's, st. crox's, shimano's and would trade them all for more dobyns

From: Steve-0: a-town, CA

Comments: SUPER ROD FOR CRANKS!!! Very good rod. You can use it for squarebills, shallow runners, mid depth, and deep divers. Also this sucker will launch a crank a very, very, long way!! Don't pass this one up if your looking for a new crankbait rod!!

From: Mrbond007: East Lansing, MI

Comments: Have the 704CB and cannot get over how awesome this rod is.... Can throw pointers and cranks a COUNTRY MILE. The action is light enough to really pitch the lure but not so soft that you can't get a good hookset. Overall quality rod. Every Dobyns I own I absolutely love. This one is no exception. A+++

From: Jeremy: Phx, AZ

Comments: Bought the 804. Was the only rod I had to use on vacation. When the fish went off the crankbait bite I started throwing weightless senkos. The rod casts light-weight lures a mile and is hyper-sensitive on the longest cast, so you know it'll be good on cranks. Flatout awesome crankbait rod and versatile as well. Time to sell all my Shimanos and (massively) upgrade the rest of the arsenal.

Comments: I am always looking for the best cranking rod I can find.  I am an avid crankbait fisherman and the Dobyns Champion 704 glass is my choice.  Look no more
