Comments: I have the 742 Split and  744 full handle. Unbelievable balance and comfortable. Plenty sensitive. I'll focus on the 744 Full under this series review. Mainly use for t-rigs, dragging jigs, swim jigs, flipping moderately heavy cover, weedless 4.3 & greater Keitechs. I was surprised how well it loads and keeps fished pinned with a lipless. If a lipless is on the agenda and I'm not using it for anything else, I actually prefer it to my Dobyns 745 CB for lipless fishing. These Champion extremes are amazing. I own 1 Dobyns Extasy. It is lighter and more sensitive, but the balance of these Extremes and the sensitivity are enough to keep me excited every time I pick up the Extremes. You've got your Shimano/Loomis, Daiwa, St. Croix fanatics. I guess Iâm a Dobyns fanatic. I just simply prefer the comfort/balance and the way Dobyns loads during casting and hookups.

Comments: The 7'8" Heavy is a fantastic jig rod and has quicky became my favorite rod to fish. I often find myself fishing this rod with a jig or texas rig even when the fish arent bitting one as well as other baits, just because I love catching fish on this rod. Its light, extremely sensitive, looks great, and has the best tip for jig fishing but it has an immense amount of power in the lower portion of the rod. The cork on this rod is perfect and so it every other detail on this rod. I have many other dobyns rods and I will continue to only buy Dobyns because they continue to make superior products.

From: Brandon: Ohio 1/3/21

Comments: This rod is is so balanced it is a pleasure to fish with I have a couple of them 745 jig fishing and 744 T Rig. I have quit a few Dobyns rods mostly crank-bait rods and some spinning they are all quality if you purchase a Dobyns rod you will not be disappointed.

From: Terry: Monroe 10/5/20

Comments: For what it is its an ok rod. I liked the action on for throwing swim jigs and Texas Rigs but for the price it should be a lot more sensitive. Im a G Loomis man and the rod doesnt touch the sensitivity of an NRX.

From: Hunt - Georgia 8/16/20

Comments: Oh this rod is truly something special- I've the 7'4 mag heavy and it's become my "all time" favorite jig rod - everything about it is perfection . I've also the Dobyns Xtasy also a great rod but being totally honest I love and reach for this extreme more often . Ever grab a rod and it just feels like it's custom made for you ? That's what the extreme is . For jigs it's the perfect soft tip for feeling the bite - then the proper back bone for setting the hook . High quality rod that's price point is more then fair . Highly recommend the 7'4 Mag heavy

Comments: Thank you Tackle Warehouse for the fast delivery and well packaged 746C rod. It was well protected in a brand new plastic sleeve, padding in a hard rod tube. It came in perfect condition and a real joy to fish with. I paired it with a Chronarch MGL 150XG and it's super light for the power. I've been casting a 1/2oz Dirty Jigs No-Jack Swim Jig with a 5.8" keitech trailer and bombs it with ease. Great sensitivity and power and look forward to flipping and pitching this rod with Spring around the corner. I'll definitely be ordering more rods from Tackle Warehouse after this first experience!

Comments: I just got my 745 on Friday and what does not get mentioned is how great it is with a 6" ribbon tail worm with basically zero bulk on a 3/16 weight.  Throws a mile, is tough as nails in cover and I could not be happier with my purchase.  Very light weight, yet it will  make that fish see stars.   Great tip to launch baits, and all around I would say you get what you pay for.

From: Shaun: Aubrey, Texas 6/4/19

Comments: UPDATE to my 745 review. I feel like I didn't give this rod nearly enough credit in my initial review. I've come to love it. Soft tip with a 4-5 power backbone. It's a SWEET rod. Fairly light on the scale and feels even lighter  in hand because it's well-balanced. Great for 3/8 or 1/2 oz jigs, chatterbaits, and t-rigs, and I'd defintiely throw stouter trebles on it, such as a Plopper 110. Original Review: 1/18/19 Review of the 745. Bottom line: High-quality rod, but I'd probably get something else for the price--maybe a 7'6" Heavy Expride (at least $50 less). I got this rod for throwing 1/2 ounce t-rigs and 1/2 ounce jigs with bigger trailers in deeper water and also in shallower water in moderate cover/structure. For these purposes, I love how well the rod casts (it seems to launch lures). However, for my tastes, the tip is soft. Now, this may aid in what is supposed to be this rod's incredible sensitivity (it does seem very sensitive) and it may help keep fish pinned, but it's not my preference. I throw soft plastic swimbaits A LOT (Gambler big EZ, etc.) and is good for this purpose, but not in the super heavy pads and other stuff I like to throw them in. Two other high points: (1) this rod looks fantastic (2) the rear handle is shorter than some other rods in the same category (10.25in), which helps keep the rod butt out of your shirt, etc. (but gives you less to brace with during a fight).  One other thing to note: lure weights. For me, this tops out at a 1/2 jig plus big trailer. YMMV.

Comments: The 745HP is my bread and butter. It spends 90% of its time with a 1/2oz-3/4oz jig on the business end. It can fish a 1oz jig in open water, but it will not be ideal for that size of jig in heavy cover. This is a great jig rod! As an extra fast, it has a softer tip that transitions into some serious butt. It's not an Loomis IMX style action with a little bit of tip and a fairly straight power curve. The 745 is a very unique rod for a long 5 power jig stick...it has a great blend of power and soft tip. This rod lacks nothing when it comes to handling big fish. I have countless fish over 5 and multiple fish over 7 that have been subdued by my 745. This is your rod for open water, pitching lighter cover, and open water grass fishing. Besides a jig, its excellent for bigger plastics and blades. If you mostly pitch or flip into heavy grass mats or dense wood, the 746 is going to be the better call for you.

From: Chris: Lancaster, CA 5/6/19

Comments: Had a 7'8" Mike Long jig rod.  Used it for 8 months with good performance.  Then, it broke on a hookset about 2/3 of the way up from the handle right above one of the eyes.  A rod, at this price, shouldn't break in this situation.  I don't abuse my equipment.  I'm probably not going to replace it.  Gonna go in another direction.

From: Coach: Shell Knob 4/23/19

Comments: I have two DX795 flippin sticks and they are my favorite heavy cover flippin rods that I've used.  IMO Dobyns got the action on this rod perfect.  It has a nice soft tip section that loads into a powerful backbone.  I love setting the hook with this rod.  You can give a nice strong hookset without fear of tearing holes or ripping the bait out of the fishes mouth.  The balance is superb and the sensitivity is good.  This is personally the highest price point of rod that I'm willing to buy and I'm perfectly content with these rods.

From: Jon: Tallahassee 3/31/19

Comments: I bought the 784 and put a Curado K to throw Alabama rigs with and it is amazing! Super sensitive when fish swim by the A rig without biting so i know when to pump the rod to get them to come back and hit it.

From: Robert: CA 4/23/18

Comments: I fish in a kayak 90% of the time so im limited on gear i bought the extreme 805 and i can do everything with it flipping jigs texas rigs arigs i even throw lipless cranks in grass and hook up ratio is amazing

From: Mike: Iowa 2/7/18

Comments: Picked up this rod to test it out. It's so light I got busted for shoplifting cause I forgot it was in my hand when I walked out of the Tackle shop. Lol that didn't happen, but seriously, it should be a crime to use a rod that's so much better than all the competitors. Don't waste your money buying multiple cheap rods when you can just save up for the Champions Extreme HP. The components are top of the line, from the reel seat, to the blank. You can FEEL the quality. Home run by Dobyns with this one.

From: Gary - California 11/11/17

Comments: Bought the 703 and absolutely love it! Just the right amount of tip and backbone. The cork is amazing and casting with this rod is spot on. You will love this rod, well worth the money.

From: Victor: NJ 9/5/17

Comments: By far the BEST looking and balanced rod you'll ever fish with but just not as sensitive as I thought it'd be at this price point. I actually can feel better with the Champion line of rods with bottom baits  like jigs and Texas rig baits. Just not as sensitive as I'd hope for.

From: Chuck: SC 8/27/17

Comments: I bought a 743 as my first extreme. Didnt have an extreme before now so i can only compare it to champions. First off its a super good looking rod. Not as colorful as the older extremes but it has a nice clean styling that l like. The cork is VERY nice. The 743, like all Dobyns rods, is very well balanced. The tip is slightly faster than in the comparable Champions without being stiff. They really nailed the action for contact baits vs the champs. Loads and casts very well within the specified weight range. More sensitive than Champions, but not on the same level as some other high end rods. That being said with braid or fluoro and tungsten you won't be disappointed with the sensitivity. In my opinion the action and balance of the rod more than make up for any lost sensitivity compared to a more sensitive rod.  If you're looking for a higher end, workhorse rod that looks and feels like a more expensive stick, look no further.  I've got a 745 in the mail as I write this.

From: Scott: Texas 3/6/17

Comments: This has to be one of the most comfortable and balanced rods out on the market.  I went with the 745 as a jig rod and am very pleased.  Cork is top notch, guides and aesthetics are great.  The one nock I would say is that although this rod is pretty good in the sensitivity department, it doesn't have that extreme crisp feel as some other rods out there near this price range.  How much that is really needed though is a pretty subjective.  Great job Dobyns!

From: Tim:MN 12/21/16

Comments: I have a collection of the Champion Series, but when I was in the market for a pitching & flipping stick, a friend directed me to the high-end Extreme HP line. Sensitivity & strength are excellent, but it is the balance that sticks out for me. I got a Scorpion 71 HG (JDM version of the Curado 71 HG) as my reel and initially I got the split-handle version of the 745C, but the balance was not "quite" there, so I opted to return it for the full-handle version. Yes, the overall weight of the full-handle is more than the split-handle, but in my opinion the additional cork provided by the full-handle provides more noticeable balance, especially since I wanted it for close-quarters, vertical presentations. This combats the issue of longer rods typically being "tip heavy." I have not caught any bass of substantial size with the 745C, but the backbone is definitely there but with the responsive tip for accurate pitches and even sidearm skipping under limbs. In addition, Dobyns offers the best rod replacement program out there today in case I want to upgrade in the distant future.

From: Richard: Dublin, CA 8/1/16

Comments: Happy I went ahead & bought the DX746 Flip. It's listed Flip but I skip jigs under docks with this rod with no problems. Great tip & light and balanced. This is the perfect jig rod. It should be labeled JIG/T-rig special! I'll have to have another one. Also a DX765 Flip is next. I don't see it on Tackle Warehouse but I know there's a DX765. I can't wait to get one or two of those also.

From: Jordan: NC 1/25/16

Comments: I have the new 743, I also have the previous version. I can't believe he improved on that lol, I really like the new look as well.  Awesome rod that is all!

From: Mike: USA 1/12/16

Comments: I got the DX 745 HP. Out of the shipping tube it's stunning & very well balanced. I'm very happy they went with the Fuji guides! Luckily the fish are still biting here so I got a handful of fish on it. Sensitivity is insane. The fish were not active at all but I felt the lethargic bites from a mile away. It was more like they softly picked it up. The tip is so perfect for skipping and pitching jigs. The hookset power is awesome! Those hooks were buried. I put a 2oz Mattlures ultimate gill on to see how well it would handle & suprisingly it didn't max out the rod. I wouldn't recogment the rod for swimbaits, just saying it can handle some weight. I also tossed some frogs on it. Now I need to get another. Best jig/frog rod I've ever fished.

From: Ryan: Richmond, VA 12/16/15

Comments: I have the new 745 and it is just as great as the previous version. I actually find it to be a bit more sensitive.
