Customer Reviews

Comments: Hands down the best crank rod I have. I bought the 805 for an El Salto trip & was not disappointed. I spent 5 days throwing nothing but deep divers and never got tired. The rod held up for 500+ bass without missing a beat. There is NO better rod out there for deep diving cranks.

From: Erick: San Diego, CA 5/2/16

Comments: I've got the 805cbrmrod, and it is the best crankbait rod I've ever owned. For an 8 ft. rod, it is light & won't wear you out from throwing cranks all day like some rods do. Another thing is you don't have to throw it hard to launch a 6xd,or whatever crankbait you prefer, a country mile!

From: Banks: Kimberly, AL 2/25/16

Comments: 805 w/ braid. Cranks, Swimbaits, SwimJigs, Chatters, Wakes, Traps, an absolute hammer. Launch baits farther than ever before. Power to sink hooks, tip to keep them pinned. Excellent S-Waver 168 rod. Tip works baits to full potential. I love this rod.

Comments: Dobyns Champion 764CBRM is an outstanding medium crankbait rod. Loads up nicely and the added length allows for great casting distance. Use it mainly for my 7-12 foot crankbaits and seems perfect for that depth.

From: Rich: Leesville, LA 4/9/15

Comments: I have the 805 there is not a better deep cranking rod made period try one you will love it.

From: Lance: Livingston, TX

Comments: The 805CBRM is simply awesome for deep diving crankbaits! DD22's to DT16's, this rod just out shines anything else I have ever used for deep cranking and I've yet to loose a fish on it. Loads up well and the 8ft length makes casting those divers a mile a piece of cake.

From: Chris: Austin, TX

Comments: Great rod for crankin and carolina rig.

From: Jeff: Upstate, SC

Comments: I do a lot of research before purchasing rods and looked at the 805 for awhile before purchasing. I bought it because I was in need of a deep diving crank bait rod. My previous DD crank rod was killer on my arms and I always felt as though I was fighting the pull of the diving baits. All smiles once I started throwing with this rod. The soft tip allows for effortless long casts while the backbone crushes on sweeping hook sets. As a DD crank bait rod it is an A+. The 805 also shines when fishing a  flutter spoon and excels when using a 5" money minnow rigged with a quarter oz. SB hook. I see another one of these in my future.

From: Aaron: Arkadelphia, AR

Comments: Got the 764...just as i expected... all the great reviews people give these McAbee rods are spot on. They are truly cranking rods in a class of their own. Buy one, use it, and if you're forced to throw a different cranking rod... you'll find yourself really missing  this one.

From: Vance: NC

Comments: 764 is outstanding. Great response with cranks of all sizes. It is a must have for any crank bait fisherman. Put the junk G. Loomis and St. Croix rods away and upgrade to a DOBYNS. You wont regret it.

From: Damon: Milford, IN
