Dobyns Savvy Micro Guide Spinning Rods - $159.99 to $169.99
The Dobyns Savvy Micro Guide Spinning Rods still deliver the high-caliber features and more affordable pricepoint that made the originals such as success - now with the enhanced performance of new Kigan Micro Guides. Gary Dobyns, owner and one of the West’s all-time leading money winners, used his vast experience and expertise to refine and upgrade the blank material, as well as, ensure that the rods were perfectly balanced. The new micro guides only add to the series’ performance capabilities, offering reduced weight, as well as, increased casting distance and accuracy.
In order to keep the pricepoint down, Dobyns scaled back on the cosmetics and also made adjustments in other non-performance essential areas. Still equipped with comfortable, proprietary reel seats, each rod also features a no-foregrip design for enhanced sensitivity, as well as a split grip handle system to further reduce weight. Now equipped with micro guides, the Dobyns Savvy Micro Guide Spinning Rods aren’t just built for a particular technique, they’re designed to improve and maximize your effectiveness with that technique.
All Dobyns Savvy Rods covered by a $60 "no hassles replacement plan."
Comments: Have the 693 for all my finesse needs and it works beautifully for everything I do; drop shot shakey head wacky rig. I run braid to a leader, and have no problems with the micro's. great balance too

Comments: I recently purchased a 7' ML rod for drop shot. It is light, sensitive, well made and beautiful. Only concern for you is that even though it rates ML, it's actually more likely Medium.
Comments: Have the ML for drop shot. Having a lot of issues with knot getting caught in the micro guides and has caused many headaches. I'd buy this same rod again, but I would do the standard guides. Or, learn to tie a micro friendly knot.

Comments: Excellent rod for drop shots. I've pretty much had this rod glued to my hand for my last 2 club tourneys. It's SUPER light, very sensitive and the tip if perfect for keeping the fish hooked when it counts. Also, it looks awesome. If you use a sandwich bag tie around the hook keeper, you'll find a quick solution for your weight.

Comments: Well, in lieu of the amazing spring weather we've been having, I got a chance to go out and try this rod on March 16th. Just as my previous review stated, this rod is awsome. I landed 2 largemouths, one of them pushing about 3 lbs, and a Northern that was right around 22 inches or so. This rod has good sensitivity, great backbone to it, and phenominal balance, even with a 9.9 ounce old Shimano Saros reel on it. I have already fallen in love with this rod and as I said before, I can't imagine finding a better rod for $150. I can't wait until I have the money to pair this baby with a Shimano Stradic CI4 for an awesome super lightweight combo! Dobyns has made a believer out of me.

Comments: Just got a Dobyns Savvy Microguide Medium power delivered today from Tackle Warehouse. Haven't used it yet, but WOW, the balance and just overall quality of this rod right out of the package is amazing! This rod was meant to replace my St Croix Premiere that has a broken guide insert, and comparing the balance of the two, there really is no comparison. I have a hard time believing that there is a rod out there that is anywhere near the quality of this rod for $150. Not even the new Shimano Crucials. According to their website, the St Croix Premiere weighs 4.0 ounces, This Dobyns rod weighs 4.18 ounces. WHen you hold this rod at the reel seat, it feels like it weighs at least an ounce to and ounce and a half less than the St Croix. I'm just amazed and can't wait to try this baby out. Btw, Dobyns has an awesome warranty on all of their rods. I highly highly recommend trying one out. Can't go wrong with this one for $150. I guarantee you will be impressed.
