Overview

Tackle Warehouse Exclusive Color: Ghost SX Shad

Built to with two smooth-running props, the Duo Realis Spinbait Spybait Series offers all the right attributes for light line finesse techniques, including the Japanese technique of "spybaiting." The technique of "spybaiting" requires light line, a long-distance cast, and a sinking style bait that can be crawled back to the boat. It takes patience and refinement but is incredibly effective, especially in pressured fisheries. Sculpted with flat sides and a tall profile, the Duo Realis Spinbaits deliver more flash than ever before, while still maintaining the signature rolling action that makes them so effective for spybaiting.

Although finesse in nature, the Duo Realis Spinbaits are designed with reinforced internal framing that makes them capable of withstanding crushing blows from large predators. As with any spybait, long-distance casts are imperative, which is why the Duo Realis Spinbaits are made with a precise internal weighting that delivers the furthest and most accurate trajectory possible. Available in a number of highly developed finishes, the Duo Realis Spinbait Spinbait Spybait Series allows anglers to cash-in on the incredibly productive spybaiting technique.

Duo Realis Length Weight Class Depth

Previous Feedback

Comments: I've caught LM, spotted bass, catfish and gar on the 80 size. A great bait to fish when the bass gets locked jaw and suspend. Put the time in along with your forward-facing sonar and you can catch them.

From: G-man: Georgia 8/21/23

Comments: I bought a DR 90 and tried it awhile. It sank very quickly, nose down, very unlike the description. I contacted a/the US DR Prostaff guy in Oregon. He sent me three more, I think, and I tested them all, but they all did the same nose-dive. I sent those three back, and my original one still sits on my desk, back in the original packaging. I thought it would be useful here on Lk. Washington, but the nose dive is too quick, even in 20' > 30' of water. It sounds like the 3/8 oz '80' might be a better bet.

From: Unknown: 6/23/23

Comments: Everything that swims in lake michigan in Chicago knocks the crap out of this thing.  Great chuck and wind bait fished just off bottom.

From: Lucas: Chicago 4/4/21

Comments: I've been reading the reviews with guys having problems with the back screw eye coming out. I have quite a few Spybaits in all of the models. When I get a new lure, this goes for any lure with screw eyes, I take all of the screw eyes out and put a thin film of 2 ton epoxy on them and screw them back in. I have to be careful to make sure that nothing gets anywhere near the spinner. I made muskie lures and used screw eyes in all of the crank baits and I put 2 ton epoxy on all of the screw eyes and never had one break loose. It's not hard to do, and if it saves me one fish it's worth the trouble.

From: James: Ferryville 2/14/21

Comments:I'm a huge DUO Realis fan and when the spybaiting craze hit the bass market I felt a little disappointed because I couldn't catch a single fish on it. I attempted to fish slower and ended up getting snagged and never bought another until very recently. I think I got the technique down now and it produces big fish on those hard to get bit days. I see some comments about the 90 going nose down on the fall - you need to do a controlled fall like when you yoyo a lipless crank only this is much slower and requires patience and getting a feel for the timing of the fall. I like to keep one my thumb on the line on a disengaged spool and slowly peel off line with my left hand while maintaining contact with the lure. The retrieve is always tricky too, too slow a retrieve makes the bait run nose up, too fast and you kill the action, point your rod right at the bait and reel just enough so you feel the props moving. I'm finding that your retrieve will vary day by day depending on wind, temps, current. DONT GIVE UP learning how to spybait, the technique has a huge learning curve but you will catch fish that many other will not.

Comments:
I used the Duo Realis for the first time yesterday in a big clear water impoundment. I had 2 sizes, a 1/6 oz and a 1/4 oz. We caught several good spotted bass with this bait. It was very good but the hooks were really poor. They are #14 trebles and on every single bait we used one prong on each treble almost immediately broke off; very fragile hooks. So now to find some better replacement hooks for these baits. Surprising since Duo Realis usually has very good hooks I think Gamakatsu on their spinbaits which I think are the best hooks on the market.

From: Unknown: 9/1/20

Comments:My confidence bait on LSC, it takes a little patience to fish but you can be confident that if you drag it past a fish they will bite it 99% of the time. I throw the 90 with 7' MH Falcon Jason Christie cranking and a super slow 5.5:1 Curado on 12lb PLine co-polymer and it's a perfect setup. Has been out fishing drop shot, great lures, only issue has been Musky stealing them.

From: Vince - Michigan 8/10/20

Comments: I'm impressed with this little bait from the first day I used it. Post spawn condition, overcast until high noon temps around 70 degrees. Water was cold but shorts where possible in my tube. From the first cast I landed a small bass and continued to use it around key spots in a local pond. Think I landed 3 bass and two large bluegill. Even saw short strikes at my feet. Very impressed with this little bait. I ordered two more colors in the 90 & another 80. Looking forward to using it in July during the hotter clear water days.

From: Unknown - 5/12/20

Comments:My Spinbait 90 also fell nose steeply down (about 80 degrees) and very fast. It wasn't what I expected, based on what I'd seen on YouTube vids of the 80. After emailing Duo Realis USA, I was surprised to find a package in the mail from Japan with some more, I think for a total of 4 including my original. I took them all down to the park and tried dropping them in clear water, watching the fall. All were identical. For the record, I was tying them direct to 6 lb Tatsu FC line, so no snap, no swivel, nothing. I'm kinda relieved that I'm not the only one that didn't like the way the 90 works. In retrospect, I think maybe 10 or 12 lb FC or even Co-Polymer line wouldmake the fall more horizontal. I'll be trying that this Spring.

Comments:I have to retract my earlier e mail on Duo Realis spybait 90 . David contacted me and completely made my situation with my 4 90 series rear hooks pulling out. He also stated they are replacing my baits and they have corrected the problem with them. I had purchased 4 more and haven't had any problem with the baits what so ever. I have had some ask me why I purchased more since I had the problem with them, that one is easy THEY CATCH FISH !! Thanks team Duo!

From: Unknown - 9/25/18

Comments:I purchased 4 90 series duo realisspybaits . Thebait will catch fish no doubt however I had a problem with rearhook pulling out . All 4 90 series baits the rear hook pulled out. TW gave me the webb sight however after fourattempts trying to contact Duo Realis I haven't had any response from them. Love the bait however I am out $60.00. This was the first time out of the box to use each bait. Still waiting for a reply.

From: Unknown 9/7/18

Comments:BAD NEWS/GOOD NEWS:.I bought the 90 spybait (from TW) and it CATCHES fish when nothing else will work. The third fish, the tail hook pulled/fell out (BAD).I called TW and they gave me the DUO website info.I sent e-mail and got an immediate reply the U.S. manager. on 25 June. That same day the home office in Japan sent me a package replacing my SPYbait. They also asked for the "broken" 90 back so they can figure out what the problem is.FYI I used the 90 without the tailhook and it still caught fish - they commonly hit the middle hook. With customer support like this, I will be getting MORE DUO Realis lures

Comments:This bait will really catch them!!!I had one problem....the back eyelet came out of the bait.I don't know if I just got a bad one or what but......

Comments:Just got back from Vilas County WI. The smallies were done spawning and the walleyes were are the prowl for food. Clouds of baitfish were in the shallow warm water of the inside weed lines. Early in the trip I caught lots of fish and some big ones on twitch baits, but when the wind shifted to NW and bright sunshine after cool nights, that bite slowed. My first cast with a Spy Bait put a 3# smallie in the boat, followed by several walleyes in the 7-8# range coming out of 4' of water and more smallies including a PB 22 1/4". Fish feeding up that shallow, especially walleyes, can be very lure shy. But they weren't shy about eating the Spy Bait.

Comments:I just opened my 90 in American Shad and funny how it looks just like a LC Staycee or Pointer.Color and shape looks great and I'll be throwing it in a week.Stay tuned...also add an extra split ring to the rear hook and it will swivel almost 360 degrees.Makes it tougher for the bass to throw the hook.

Comments:So I decided to try 90 and man oh man is this spybait awesome I use it basically like a spinnerbait only flaw is I upsized front treble & any time I kill it it tangles the line but other than that I love it it's like a grub on roids for those deep fish

Comments:I have been spybaiting for a couple of months and I have one thing to say about these lures. Impressive. They say this technique is best for clear water suspended fish, but you would be suprised how we'll these thing catch schooling fish and shallow water cruisers. I will definitely get more and soon.

Comments:The guy whose bait sank nose down and didn't shimmy on the retrieve must've had it tied to a heavy crane swivel or got a rare defective one, because this thing is pretty much identical to its little brother. There's only a minimal difference in size and it's the same shape. Mine works fine. Also, it has excellent hooks. They are very sharp and the eye is in line with one of the points like an owner stinger.

Comments:I love rigging the spinbait 90 on my jerkbait rod with 10-12lb test line & target suspended fish around docks. The added weight and size of the 90 enable it to be fished at a faster pace while maintaining that rolling action. It gives those highly pressured dock fish a different look since they've seen every spinnerbait ever made run over their heads.

Comments:The Spinbait 90 is a great bait for covering water, quickly looking for active bass & heavier than the original spinbait 80 and gfix 80. This bait can be fished faster and on baitcasting gear and heavier line. This is a great alternative to the other spybaits in the line up. I have caught multiple species on the bait and is killer for smallmouth bass.

Comments:If you've been hesitant to throw the Spinbait 80 because it requires spinning tackle then start with the 90. It weighs a 1/2oz and with its compact size you can launch it on a med or med-hvy action casting rod with 10 or 12lb fluoro. You can't go wrong with Ghost Pearl color. I've found it works excellent in many different water clarities. This is a great bait for schooling/busting fish and suspended fish.

Comments:The snow is flying and smallies are chewing. I have been using the 90 here in Ontario. It falls a little faster but it gets down to the hungry smallmouth faster also little trick wind a little faster then the 80 and let it fall those curious smallies will hammer it. Color of choice: Morning Dawn and Ghost Pearl!

From: Brian: Ontario, Canada 11/6/14

Comments:The 90 falls head first with no rolling action, unlike the 80 or g-fix versions. It does not fish like the originals, seems to dive downwards on the retrieve rather than horizontally. Tossed it for a few minutes and switched back to the g-fix version and caught fish instantly.

Comments:Purchased The Spinbait 90 and really like. I am new to Spybaiting and this is a bait that is easy to use. Have caught some nice SM and even a 34" Pike. It is a good purchase. I'll buy some more.
