G. Loomis GL2 Casting Flippin and Pitchin Rods - $200.00
Winner of Best of Show in the Freshwater Rod Category at the 2011 ICAST Show
Flipping is a technical form of heavy-duty “finesse” fishing. Heavy-duty in that you're using heavy line, a powerful rod, and virtually yanking fish out of heavy cover. Finesse in that you have to be stealthy and maintain total control of the bait, the boat, and the presentation. It demands a soft, quiet entry, limited boat noise and the ability to put a lure into a small space with every intent of jerking that fish right out of that same spot. You need a rod that can move a fish quickly, with authority, before it has a chance to wrap you up in the cover. The G.Loomis GL2 Flipping Stick has that kind of power in spades, and also offers uncanny balance and line control thanks to its well thought out handle configuration. The premium Fuji ACS Reel Seat also features a blank-thru construction, with a trigger grip, and durable Fuji Aluminum Oxide Guides won’t let you down either. Completely updated and improved, the G.Loomis GL2 Flipping & Pitching Rod - industrial bass fishing at it's finest.
Comments: This rod is an awesome rod, great action. You can feel even the smallest bites, but yet it is strong enough to crank in a huge bass. I love the sensitivity!

Comments: First off i have been lyal to G Loomis for 20 years so i may be a little bias. Prior to purchasing the rod i was interested in a Dobyns Champion 766 due to the fact that the dobyns is extremely well balance compared to my FSR 904SX IMX and when punchin with a 1.5 oz all day i dont want a tip heavy rod. So i took a gamble and stuck with the company that has brought me so many fond memories of fishing (and is still AMERICAN MADE) and bought the new GL2 FPR 894.
My first impressions: i noticed that the first guide in front of the reel seat is set way far down the blank enabling maximum hand control of the line preventing guide and tip wraps. The first guid is set about 3' away from the reel seat. Second: The rod is just as well balanced as the champion with a 200E7 when palming the reel. Third: the rod has the ability to hadle 1.5 oz all day.
Finally, i own a FSR 904X IMX and this rod is more balanced and comfotable to fish with. However the powers are identical. G Loomis you still have me as a loyal customer!
