Winner of Best of Show in the Freshwater Rod Category at the 2011 ICAST Show

Big baits mean big bass and it takes a special rod to handle the two together. That’s why G. Loomis teamed up with some of the leading swimbait experts to dial in every little nuance and feature of the new GL2 Swimbait Casting Rods to create good, reliable swimbait rods.  Designed to fish both soft and hard plastic swimbaits, they have the power to make long casts with a swimbaits and fight big fish, as well as, the sensitivity to detect subtle bites.

The new ergonomic handle design features a magnum split grip to help reduce weight and improve the rod's balance. The fighting-butt is big enough for an average-sized angler to grasp it firmly and the whole butt-section is extra long so you can tuck the rod butt under your arm rather than having it jab you in the ribs. The extra length also provides leverage to improve casting distance and control, not to mention handling the big bass you’ll be catching. Equipped with premium Fuji ACS Reel Seats and durable Fuji Aluminum Oxide Guides, the G. Loomis GL2 Swimbait Casting Rods offer everything you’d ever need in a swimbait rod. An excellent blend of performance and value.

Comments: This is the stick you need for throwing those big rubber swimbaits. Loads up really nice with the hudds and conversely can throw lighter wood plugs with ease. It is not shockingly light, but light when you consider the power it has. Can move a lot of water fast if you have a swimbait take coming your direction.  Very strong rod, great for the price like all G loomis products.

Comments: Rod is amazing for throwing alabama rigs all day! Paired it with a Shimano Calcuta 100b (I prefer the slower gear ratio for the A Rigs and Swimbaits). Initially picked the rod up for Calicos/swimbaits/light-medium duty ocean fishing, but decided to see how it would do for alabama rigs and it really shined. The rod has a soft enough tip to really bomb the heavy rigs, and the obvious power you'd expect from a big swimbait rod.

Comments: I've had the 956 for a while now.  mostly for 8" hudds and 10" triple touts.  doubled up on the triple trout with a 3lb and 6lb bass at the same time.  Not a problem with this rod.  Plus I love the rod seat since I use low profile revo winch reels it lets me palm the reel for better feel.  Lovin' it so much I just ordered a 957.

Comments: I must say, had no problem chucking a 10 inch bait all day in 36 degree rain. Definitely worth sticking a 8lber.

Comments: The G. Loomis 957C is a great rod. I use it to throw my swimbaits in the 5oz-8oz range. The rod is on the stiffer side, but by no means is it a broomstick. The action is nice and launches baits with ease. When a fish is on they don't stand a chance.
