Comments: I have two seasons on the GLX 7'1" 852 JWR. It's so light in weight, sensitive, and great to fish with. The soft-ish extra fast tip transfers in to the backbone pretty fast. The tip makes it a very versatile rod. I love it for shaky heads, 1/4oz jigs (bitsy flip), small t rigs, wacky worms, flukes. It's always been used with 20lb braid to a 12lb leader. What a great rod!

Comments: GLX 843c MBR is my favorite 1/4-3/8oz jig, T rig, fluke rod. However it can do pretty much everything else too, except for baits in the extreme light and heavy side of the spectrum. I love it for bottom baits, it's so light, sensitive, balanced, and comfortable to fish with.

Comments: beautiful blank...light, sensitive, very responsive. love the rod (including the reel seat!! probably the way I cradle my bait casters). I have to say though....the cork is extremely disappointing, a ton of filler..black spots... I've seen better cork on a 200.00 rod...I can get past it but, I wasn't expecting that from Loomis, especially for a nearly 500.00 rod.

Comments: These are the rods that come out every trip because they are the most useful, lightest, most sensitive, and have the best actions there is. 842 - 1/4oz mini max chatterbait, 1 and 1.5 square bills and flat sides, 3/16-1/4oz ball head jigs, poppers, small spinnerbaits, and shaky heads. 844 - 3/8-5/8 jigs, t rigs, swim jigs, belly weighted swimbaits, ploppers, buzz baits, spinnerbaits., 852 - best 1/4-5/16 jig rod, 1/8-1/4oz t rigs, small swimbaits, minimax chatterbait, shaky heads, 1/4oz top water of any kind, flukes, weightless stick worms. Maybe my favorite rod of all time. I use an old Aldebaran mg7, and a new Metanium on them since I have two. These rods float in your hand, like no other rod I have ever used. To the guy saying that kilster helium's are better rods. I used to have 3 of the NFC rods, and there is no way they come anywhere near these GLX rods in any way, not in function, taper, components, build, or power. I fished them all side by side, and the helium's were all sold.

Comments: Purchased the 7'5" Extra Hvy 895C JWR. Very nice build quality and very sensitive. My Kistler Helium 3 built on an North Fork Composite blank (which they no longer use) blows this rod out of the water on sensitivity though. For the hype on GLX and the 500 hundred dollar price tag I though it would be more sensitive. Is it worth 500? no way, more like 300. If you really want this rod I would wait till black friday sale but don't pay full retail. If your looking for sensitivity I would go with Edge rods by Gary Loomis built on NFC blanks which are the best I have ever tried.

Comments: Used to be a dobyns champion rod fan till I snapped the second rod. Both bass weighing less than 4lbs. I decided to give the g loomis glx rods a try and OMG!, these rods are amazing. I picked up the 843c mbr and 854c. These rods are so strong, light and stupid sensitive. I fish a resivoir, which holds big smallies, over 5lbs and these rods bring them to the boat no problem. I also picked up a GCX844mbr which I am anxious to try. G loomis and Shimano rods are hands down some awesome rods

Comments: I have the 7'5 H. Sick rod. So fun to use. Incredibly sensitive, incredibly light, wouldn't trade it for anything. I go 30 lb braid to 20 lb fluoro leader. It's my designated jig rod. That extra length really helps when you pin one good. Serious backbone easy to flip 4 lbers. Flipping, pitching, football jig. Paired with a Daiwa Tatula SV TWS nuts combo you'll freak out if you try it. Throw a 5/8th stealth feider jig and your set. You won't regret this purchase.

Comments: Just fished my first new rod in about 13 years, got a glx 843c MBR, I've had St Croix Avids for more than 20 years and they are good, but I'm older now and I like nice things, I have GL2's & GL3's and an older imx as well...... Simply put. It feels like a bomb goes off in your hand when you get that tick on a jig..... They are that good!

Comments: I have the 6' 8 med-heavy ex-fast with a Diawa Steez 103HA reel. I always use 2 fingers in front of the trigger and it is perfect. For a medium heavy power rod the extra fast action makes this rod very versatile allowing me to even throw a small crankbait a very long way with accuracy. Although I own a considerable number of excellent rods (including 4 NRXs) I find myself picking up this rod a great deal of the time. It is one very useful rod!

Comments: I have had my g-Loomis glx for about 15 years. I accidentally closed it in my rod cabinet in my boat, but all I can say about these rods is WOW. I have a buddy who has a brand new Saint Croix Avid-x and my 15 year old loomis was more sensitive. You will not be disappointed in a g-Loomis glx.

Comments: I own two GLX rods, the 803 JWR and the all purpose 842 MBR. Both are phenomenal rods, light, comfortable to palm and very sensitive. I'm planing on buying the 844 MBR to cover a bigger baits gap in my arsenal.

Comments: I've had my 7' 1 heavy for about a year now - I primarily use it for deep worm fishing. Not what I had intended originally but wow does it let me feel the bottom at 20/30 feet w/ the back bone to stick em. I only buy high end rods for sensitive situations and the GLX does an Amazing job. Highly recommended

Comments: These rods are unbelievable. The sensitivity is insane and the build quality is unmatched.

Comments: Now having a whole season on my GLX 843 I can confidently say they are absolutely phenomenal rods. I used it all season as my weightless 5 inch Senko rod and also did some Neko rigs with it with good success. Only gripe(but it's a big one) is the reel seat. Loomis, get with the program and use a standard Fuji ECS reel seat or at least adopt the one from the NRX. The trigger on the GLX is too close to the reel so palming the way I do cramps my hand and the only remedy for this has been using a Curado 70 with this rod. I love this rod but the reel seat is a deal breaker for buying anymore of them.

Comments: I bought an 894 GLX and paired it with a metanium to throw jigs primarily and it is the best jig rod I have ever touched. I even tried smaller swimbaits and larger topwaters with it and this rod handled them all extremely well. Sensitivity is incredible and casting is very accurate and smooth. Very powerful rod when reeling in larger fish. Fantastic quality rod from Loomis. I will be buying more.

Comments: Three weeks ago I bought an 854 & 894. These were my first g-loomis rods. The components are top notch and the sensitivity seems to live up to the hype, BUT the reel seat/grip ruins the rod. Two days ago I was out fishing and spent a considerable amount of time attempting to find a way to grip the rod that was comfortable. If I held it like I hold all of my other rods, my hand would hurt as the trigger dug into my finger. If I moved my hand to position the trigger between my next two fingers, it makes me feel like I've lost all leverage and will drop the rod. Over multiple trips out with these rods, I've come to the conclusion that they've got to go. I really wanted to love them for the money I invested in them, but I cannot fish with them.

Comments: I bought a GLX 844c MBR in September of this year as a pitching/skipping rod for 1/2 oz. jigs. My main pitching rod is a NRX 854c for 1/2 oz., but I wanted the MBR action because it skips so nice. Since they no longer make the MBR action in the NRX series I thought I would try the GLX. I read what many have said about the short grip, and its true. My normal grip is three fingers in front of the trigger, with the GLX it has to be two. It really screws up my hand play when pitching. I broke my old spinner-bait rod leveraging a pike out of coontail, so this is now my spinnerbait rod. I'm in the habit of casting two handed so my left hand is already gripping the reel, it kind of works. I've larger hands and I won't buy another GLX with this grip.

Comments: Just recently received the GLX 7"1 Medium heavy casting rod and the 6"10 drop shot rod. I have not used the drop shot rod yet, but I can speak for the casting rods.
Pros
1. Sensitivity (you can literally feel every thing will
Be good offshore)
2. Backbone (loads nicely and is not stiff so fish are fun to fight)
3. Application (many baits are comfortable on the 7"1)
Cons
1. Real seat (would be uncomfortable for medium to large hands to to split grip being close to the reel I think)
2. Slightly tip heavy
3. Price ( this rod should have no cons for its class)
I would reccoment these rods only for offshore fishing where back bone and sensitivity are needed. In my experience you can get away with a better rod for topwaters and shallow water fishing.

Comments: I purchased the 7'1" med-heavy about 3 months ago, last week the tip broke just past the 2nd guide, while throwing a baby brush hog and a 5/16th tungsten weight and a 4 ought hook. This being my first loomis rod I was very shocked and mad because I've never broke a rod before and this being my most expensive rod purchase, freaked me out. Usually I spend 150-200$ for a rod. Anyway the customer service is quick and had me a new rod without any questions. I did however spend $30 shipping and insurance to get it replaced. Hopefully this is the first and only time, I wouldn't continue to use these rods if I'm paying a fortune to send them back all the time. The rod is very sensitive, and the lightest I own, I've it paired with a shimano mentanium and it balances fairly well.

Comments: First time trying the new GLX's (853 & 854), and my overall impressions are good. They're definitely everything I've come to expect from the GLX series. Incredibly sensitive, very light weight, balanced (at least for the 7'1, I can't comment on the longer models) and also confidence in strength. I had no trouble pulling bass out cover with the 3 and 4 powers. I found the 3 power was suited well for 1/4oz range and the 4 did well with 1/2oz range. Only thing that keeps it from being perfect is the reel seat. I don't know why it's different for the GLX's compared to literally all the other Loomis rods. It sits too far forward or something and I just couldn't get used it to. The Fuji style reel seats are definitely better.

Comments: I've been a Dobyns guy, but wanted to try out the new line of GLXs. I called the company to let them know what I was looking for--a rod that could pitch heavier T-rigs and jigs as well as do some football jig casting. They were helpful and helped me narrow it down to the 895. That's where the positive reviews stops though. This rod is so incredibly tip heavy, that when paired with a 6.5 oz reel, it does not balance until about 6-7 inches in front of the reel seat. I wouldn't want to use an 8 oz reel to pitch, but I put it on just to see, and it still doesn't balance until 4 inches in front of the reel seat. I can tell, without even using it, that this would wear my hands out over a day of pitchin', so back it's going. Oh well...

Comments: Loomis finally brought back the MBR 842 and it is more inspiring than ever! I love the new taper, seems to have a slightly lighter tip and same backbone, making it more sensitive. It also balances better. The sensitivity is as close to NRX as I've seen (I wasn't as wowed by the 893). The lighter tip also makes it better for dropshots and shakey heads, but this rod was born to throw jerkbaits. If you could only have one finesse rod in your boat this is the one.
From: Unknown 2/20/17
Comments: Pair this with a shimano aldebaran and you e got yourself the lightest, most sensitive setup on earth without sacrificing any power or backbone. Really sweet rod

Comments: Loved everything about this rod except the new real seat. Didn't feel comfortable at all to me so I had to send it back. It seemed too short or something...
From: Unknown: 1/10/17
Comments: I might be alone here but I did not find the new real seat to be super comfortable in my hand. I am not sure if it was the diameter or reel proximity to the handle, but something just didn't feel right to me. It almost seemed like the reel sat a bit further towards the handle than what I am accustomed to. The rod looks awesome and is super sensitive! They are just slightly heavier than the NRX, but very close in many aspects.

Comments: Had the pleasure of fishing with some reps who had the new GLX & I really enjoyed the new lineup. The new reel seat is very comfortable, the new look is awesome & they're very well balanced. I'm going to get a 894 as soon as I can.

Comments: I have fished the 6'8" med for close to 10 years. It's my favorite rod for fishing senko and Texas rigs. I have it paired with a curado 7.1 and can't put it down!
