GLX 853S JWR. A relatively powerful and extremely sensitive deep-water, worm and jig spinning rod - especially in situations where brush and trees are involved. It has a medium-heavy tip that will handle lure weights of up to 3/4-ounce. The extra length also extends your casting range. It's a great alternative for big pike, but where it really shines is for deep-water largemouths. The quick taper gives you better control in the wind and also provides positive hook-sets. Customer Reviews

Comments: Not a fan of the new GLX's. I love my older black blank ones but the new ones have lost a bit of sensitivity & the handles on the spinning rods are too thick for me. I think they want to make sure there is a gap in sensitivity between the NRX & the GLX so that they can get more bucks for the NRX. Just my two cents.

Comments: I've had GLoomis rods for 20 yrs now. I've had 2 rods replaced w no questions asked of me. Brand new rods!! By far the best rods on the market. I have 12 of them, 8 Glx's so let's NOT judge a "dollar value" just look at other rods mb more affordable if that's the beef you choose to apply. Otherwise best rods you can buy! That's why I bought them one after another after another.

From: Steve: MI 11/24/15

Comments: GLX's and NRX's are well worth the money. They are both incredibly sensitive and have a certain feel to them when you use them that is almost indescribable. The warranties are still stellar so dont listen to the first review. Both glx's and nrx's have a wild card warranty that you apply for for free. Its basically a playing card that says gloomis on it with nrx or glx.  If you break your rod in any way (your fault or not) you can present this card along with your rod to any gloomis retailer and it is a no hassel over the counter replacement. If you want the ultimate rod with one of the best warranties you can get in the business get one of the two.  Btw shimano has owned gloomis for quite a long time, so this should not detur any one.
