Comments: I have 2 off the tournament mgs and I love them. The bent handle and the larger capacity is really nice. I use one for football head jigs and punching and the other one for have to but some backing on if ur using braid because it will slip. another perk is the look the matte black looks really sharp with any rod combo I have one on a veritas and another on a carrots stix wild wild orange. so Buy this reel u won't regret it. lews Feel the difference

Comments: I have the Lews $100.00 Speed Spools on all my rods. Decided to purchase a couple of these MG's so I could swap a couple of SS's to my wife's rods. These reels are super smooth and cast light and heavy baits with practically no backlash. I can even cast the tiny Strike King crankbait accurately and far with ease. I hope to have this reel on all my rods in the future.

From: Donald: Trout, LA 11/16/14

Comments: I own the 7.1:1 model and it's a pretty good reel for frogging and pitching. The paint chips pretty easy and the Lews sticker falls off. It's just the little things that you would think you would care about. I am not buying this reel again I'll go with a Revo next reel but I would have expected more out of a 130$ reel. It's happens tho it's all my own opinion tho.

From: CJ: Stow, OH 9/30/14

Comments: I own the Lew's Mg 7.1.1 and I am a distance caster, This reel cast's as far as my Abu Garcia Revo sx gen 3 and as far as my Quantum exo. Great reel. I use a 10 lb. co polymer line and get a squeaky noise which turned out to be the line going through the guides. In my opinion the reel is top notch.

From: Jim: Mercier, QC  Canada 9/23/14

Comments: I know how to set up a baitcast reel, been doing this for years. I own a curado e and multiple BPS PQs, and they all outcast this reel by a long ways. This reel just doesn't seem to cast baits under 1/2 ounce very well at all. Maybe I got a dud though. I flushed the bearings and cleaned it even and no improvement.

From: Tyler: Grand Junction, CO 8/27/14

Comments: I have heard great things about this reel so I bought one two years ago and loved it! I bought two more and now they are making loud noises so I tried emailing Lews customer service two times and never got a single reply to even give me advice on how to fix it or how to order parts! VERY DISSAPOINTED! Not sure what company il try next but lews customer service isn't going to get anymore of my money!

From: Adam: NE 8/23/14

Comments: For those of you who say this reel doesnt cast far, I am sorry but you just dont know how to set up a baitcaster. I have fished my Lews heavily for the last two seasons including trips to Canada and it is still as smooth as the day I bought it. Taking just a few seconds to set the spool tension and break correctly, this reel casts a freakin mile.

From: Mark: WI 8/22/14

Comments: I'm honestly disappointed. I have heard so many great things about Lew's reels that I bought this one as a deep cranking special. Well, it's casting distance with 10 pound fluorocarbon is disappointing, and it seems the spool tension doesn't have a wide range of settings. Yeah it will throw a 1/2 ounce crank reasonably well with a 7'11" MH cranking rod, but I was expecting it to bomb the lure further. It is smooth and light, but I think I will sell this and upgrade to a chronarch. Three out of five stars, mostly due to disappointing casting distance.

Comments: I've been fishing this reel for almost two years now and its still as smooth and cast like it did when I took it out of the box I have several high end reels but the mg is still my my favorite reel can't beat this reel for the price and performance

From: Sal: Odessa, TX 8/6/14

Comments: i got this reel about a year and a half ago from the moment i casted it i knew it was gonna be a good reel. It rarely gets backlashes it casts a mile and is super smooth when you reel it. Great quality reel at a good price

From: Nino: OH 7/15/14

Comments: The reel is very smooth and is good for the price. The only complaint I have is the drag is pretty weak at 14 lbs. I have the drag slip on most hook sets cranked all the way down. Other than that, I like it almost as much as my revo sx (Gen 2) other than the revo's drag is far superior. I am looking forward to trying the higher end lews although they all only have 14 lbs. of drag as well, even the super duty which is designed for a-rig, frog, and heavy football jig fishing.

From: Aron: Chicago, IL 7/1/14

Comments: Don't know why people complain the magnetic break system doesn't allow you to cast far under 5/8oz, I tied on a 1/8oz set my breaks to 3 and adjusted the spool tension accordingly and it flowed off the spool with ease! Hands down the best reel I've ever casted, if you want to really break the bearings in tie on a 1/2 oz rattletap make about 100 casts clean and re oil and it bombs anything from 1/8oz and up! Don't hesitate to purchase, smooth as butter and super fast, love how small it is with the big grips! can't wait to try the team pro next but don't see how it could be any smoother...

From: Kris: Ontario, Canada 6/26/14

Comments: Tue, the problem you are describing is 100 percent due to not putting a mono backing on your braid. Any bait caster will do what you are describing when tying braid straight to the spool. I have 8 of these reels and have had no problem with drag.

From: Patrick: San Diego, CA 6/25/14

Comments: I used this reel a couple times and it worked fine but now that i put braided line on the reel the drag system gives out but when i took out the braided line the drag works again so i dot really know whats going on but I'm not getting lew's ever again

From: Tue: Sacramento, CA 6/20/14

Comments: I got this reel for finesse fishing and I loved my Lews speed spool, so tried these out. After a few months, like Bronson said, it made a nasty grinding sound and now it sounds really cheap when I reel, which really surprised me because my other Lews was perfect. I took care of it, but it took a beating. I caught 100+ of fish on it before it began making noises. Still going to stick with Lews though... hope it doesn't happen again.

From: Logan: LA 6/4/14

Comments: I bought this reel for frogging. I loved this reel the first few months of having it but then it started to grind and make loud noises on casts. A few days after that, my line guide kept getting stuck on the left side. Has this happened to anyone before? Maybe I shouldn't have taken it salmon fishing and caught all those giants on it.

From: Bronson: USA 6/3/14

Comments: Amazing Reel! I purchased this Reel earlier this year when it was on sale for $99 and it is ridiculously smooth. I already own the 6:4:1 speed spool and now this MG with a 5:4:1 ratio for shallow cranks. It is a wonderful reel. I paired it up with a 7' St. Croix MH Mojo cranking rod and that combo is deadly. Love the audible click on the tension knob and the low profile design. I have big hands and this reel is still a gem. I also have a BPS Pro-Qualifier which is also a good reel for the money but the MG is the way to go.

From: Ryan: Ashland, KY 5/18/14

Comments: Love it.  Learned the baitcasting basics on an old Silvermax and purchased this one in 7:1 (left retrieve) as my first true upgrade and I'm thrilled.  Smooth as silk, casts beautifully, and fits very comfortably in my hand with its great low profile.  Paired it up with a St Croix Premier 7' MH, spooled it with 12lb Suffix mono and I feel like I just bought a Ferrari.   All NJ bass beware...

From: Brad: Medford, NJ 5/17/14

Comments: I own multiple different reels and I must say that this one right here exceeded my expectations. I will probally never buy another brand of reels again. Great reel!

From: Chris: Inverness, FL 4/29/14

Comments: I'm amazed by the tournament mg. I have never used a baitcaster before. This reel was easy to set up,and after a couple cast I was making 40yard cast without backlashing. It seem too easy. Wow. Great reel for a newcomer to baitcasters. I couldn't be happier!

From: Mike: TN 4/24/14

Comments: I now have 24 reels that I own. I own every brand known to man. This the first Lew's reel that I have bought. I can't believe that I have waited this long to buy one. This reel casts further than any reel that I own. The main thing to me is how comfortable the reel feels in your hand. To me no matter how much a reel costs if it is not comfortable and fun to use it is worthless. Lew's reels will cast a mile and perform as well or better than any other reel on the market. I love it and I will get me some more.

From: William: Hohenwald, TN 4/18/14

Comments: I've had several different reels from Abu Garcia and Shimano and this one blows them out of the water. You can feel how solid the build is and there's no play at all in the important bits. Casting is very easy and serious backlashes are few and far between and guaranteed to be user error. The drag is buttery smooth as well. One note on the ergonomics: The frame is REALLY small, it's barely more than a cover for the spool. I have big hands and it took a little bit to get used to it. Also, the crank is much longer than other reels. It's not a bad thing but it does feel different from other reels.

From: James: CO 4/9/14

Comments: I bought this reel after having two store brand reels that I paid $100 for.  This reel blew me away it casts so smooth and easy and has earned another lews customer for life as long as they continue to produce quality products like this. In fact I bought 3 speed spools from TW that i should receive in the next few days!!

From: John: USA 3/21/14

Comments: Every once in a while when I cast theres a weird clicking in my rell but other than that this reel is amazing. Cant beat it for the price.

From: Brandon: Oviedo, FL 3/17/14

Comments: I have 3 of the tournament Mg's, 2 tournament pros, and 1 BB1. Lews outperforms ALL of my revos and quantum's hands down. It's not even close! When Abu Garcia released the revo and shimonoseki released the chyron arc, they took the fishing world by storms. Now, all reel manufactures can bow to Lews!

From: Stone: Charlotte, NC

Comments: I have had this reel 7 months and have caught a tone of fish with it. I recently caught a 10.5 using this reel as well. All I have to say is WOW. Not only does this reel cast far it has power to match. I own several revo sx and curados as well. This reel matches up to both. I would even say its better than the curado as far as the casting goes.Great reel for the money for any angler level.

From: Ray: Converse, TX

Comments: I have 3 of these reels (2 in the 7.1 and one in the 6.4) and they work flawlessly. Best reels I've ever used and they are completely worth $130. Lew's for life!

From: Adam: Hartselle, AL

Comments: I have 2 of them and they get the job done better then my smoke and my revo SX. Great price and long casts and have a great feel in your hand. I'm a Lew's customer for life.

From: Jared: Tipp City, USA

Comments: This reel is very impressive to say the least, ive caught some big river smallies on this baby and those fish fight HARD. I have the $80 model also and use it for flippin and piching and I caught a 45 pound snapping turtle with it. performed flawlessly. Getchya one. youll be glad you did!

From: Adam: WI

Comments: Awesome Reel, Great drag, very smooth and doesn't backlash

From: Roger: SC

Comments: This reel is the absolute best! It even outperforms my $200+ reels... strong, smooth as silk, out casts the others, line capacity, and has all the attributes you could want or need in a reel... but at only $129! love this reel!!!

From: Greg: Butler, PA

Comments: I have 6 Lews reels and This is the best bang for the buck. Don't get me wrong I like them all they are flawless But this one is a step above with the duel cast adjustment. It is so smooth and cast like a champ every throw no mater what bait you change to, I never have to re-adjust for different baits. The BB1 is not even as good as this one to me. I will be getting 6 more of these later for the 2014 tournaments.

From: Kevin: KY

Comments: I got this reel for Christmas last year and at first I was very impressed with the performance. After a month or so of use the bearings started to go out and some other problems showed up in the reel. After I replaced the bearings with boca bearings and did some internal fixing, this reel is as good as new and I'm overall still happy woth lews reel.
