Offering the same advanced Lowrance HDS technologies and features as the top-of-the-line HDS-10, the Lowrance HDS-8 Fishfinder/GPS Chartplotter delivers it all in a more compact and convenient, space-saving design. Viewing performance is exceptional thanks to the award-winning 8”/20.3cm 16-bit color Super VGA SolarMAX PLUS daylight display with adjustable screen and key backlighting. The HDS-8 display also provides anglers with Split-Screen Presentation, as well as, Sonar and GPS Overlay for quick readings at a glance and improved functionality. A new menu configuration also makes accessing features even easier.

The built-in Broadband Sounder serves as the vital link between the transducer and your HDS display, using a highly-sensitive digital filtering process that captures targets often missed by less powerful sounders. The Broadband Sounder-1 is capable of finding fish with greater sensitivity, higher definition and more display clarity. It also offers superior target separation in all cover and water conditions. Even in shallow water, it cuts through clutter in the water column and presents a strikingly clear picture of fish and other objects together with the surrounding marine terrain. The technology at the heart of the system is the Lowrance 50/200 kHz dual frequency Skimmer transducer. The Lowrance Skimmer transducer provides 120-degeree coverage so that targets remain within the scanning area longer, resulting in more detailed readings and therefore enhanced fish arcs. The Skimmer transducer also delivers a maximum 250-Watt Peak-to-Peak (31W RMS; 30,000W Peak-to-Peak analog equivalent) in sonar power down to depths of 5,000-feet.

The GPS/Chartplotter portion of the Lowrance HDS-8 features an internal 16-channel GPS+WAAS Antenna, providing precise positioning with superior time-to-location lock. The Lowrance HDS-8 also includes built-in Lowrance Insight cartography, delivering a new dimension in effective, reliable marine navigation. Built-in background maps and cartography choices include the Insight USA (Americas). Various custom mapping options and updates are also available and the unit is NMEA 2000 networkable. Additionally with the GPS/Navigation unit, anglers can also store up to 5,000 waypoints with a maximum of 200 routes and 10 plot trails, including up to 12,000 points/trail. Many upgrades are available and each Lowrance HDS-8 Fishfinder/GPS Chartplotter includes many additional performance features:

FishTrack – when using in conjunction with Advanced Fish I.D. (also included), the digital depth is displayed directly above each fish symbol. It is especially helpful for making quick and precise lure presentations to the correct depths.

FlashGraf – combines a scrolling sonar target graph with a digital LCD flasher. This allows the angler to view two of the most popular ways of finding fish all one screen.

FasTrack – a selectable on/off feature. It displays flasher-style sonar returns in a narrow vertical column at the far right of the sonar screen.

Fish Symbol I.D. – interprets sonar echos and displays them as fish symbols in up to four different sizes. Ideal for shallow water.

Ping Speed HyperScroll – locates and displays fish targets at higher boat speeds with increased soundings per second.

Advanced Signal Processing (ASP) – automatically fine-tunes your sonar settings for the clearest underwater viewing. It also filters out “clutter” that interferes with sonar signals.

FishReveal – when viewing actual sonar returns, it exposes fish targets hiding in underwater cover, like surface clutter, thermoclines, and weed beds. It also features 10 levels of gray tones that are adjustable for the most revealing look in virtually any underwater environment

Comments: This is a awesome unit pretty easy to use when you locate where all of the features are can see what is really around the boat my favorite is the down imagining the only downside to it is that it has way to many features for a weekend guy. But over all great product with the structure scan.
