Inspired by the Orochi, the ancient Japanese dragon god of water, the Megabass Orochi XX Casting Rod Series captures the raw power and control of its namesake through Megabass’ cutting-edge blank manufacturing process and an uncompromising eye for quality and performance.

Guided by the unparalleled expertise of Aaron Martens and Luke Clausen, two of the premier professional bass anglers in the world, Megabass set out to design a line of rods that would earn a place on the front deck of their boats, and put the power of the legendary Orochi into their hands. Purpose-built for tournaments where a single cast can make all the difference, each Orochi blank is custom designed to match the rod’s intended application.

Crafted from premium super low-resin 40-ton carbon, each blank features a vertical-axis carbon core wrapped with a 2-axis XX-Micro Carbon layer, followed by an additional vertical-axis carbon layer. Each blank is then finished off with a 4-axis carbon wrap that goes from the butt section to the mid-section, for a total of 6-axis. Since carbon material is strongest along its axis, this unique manufacturing process adds significant strength to combat blank twist and improve overall structural integrity - all without adding unnecessary weight.

Each Orochi XX Rod also has a carefully selected range of tangle-free Fuji KWSG, KR-H, and Fuji small caliber Alconite guides for smooth casting and increased sensitivity, and premium Fuji ECS Reel Seats deliver direct contact with the rod blank and lightweight base for your reel. Delivering the quality and performance you can only expect from Megabass, the Megabass Orochi XX Casting Rods are built with unparalleled precision and craftsmanship.

Comments: Craftmenship a+ balance a+ looks a+ sensityvity b but good for the price..great rod for the price..pick one up you wont be disappointed...

From: M.S.B: Canada 8/1/14

Comments: Someone mention on here comparison to the NRX. The XX rods hands down better craftsmanship and quality over nrx. My EMTF balance 10x better than my 893c.  Tangle free guides on the XX makes it even better.  Sensitivity par with the Nrx. The blank on the XX is crazy looking and long term durability is going to last long with the unsanded blank. The PP is one crazy light punching stick off my kayak. There is no way why I see the NRX at 500 dollars compare to XX. It should be the other way around, The quality of these megabass rods are way better then the NRX.

From: MY: USA 6/27/14

Comments: Bought the Extreme Mission to use as a dedicated 5" Senko rod and it did not disappoint.  Paired with a Steez 100HLA it is money for 5" weightless senkos T-rigged or wacky.  Feels more sensitive than my Dobyns Champion rods.  Construction is gorgeous.  Handles fish very well in and out of cover, could double as a light flipping rod with ease.  The extra length is awesome for getting weightless senkos way out there when bank fishing.  Planned on adding more Dobyns Champs to the lineup until these came out, now it's almost not even a question as to which to buy.  I see the Perfect Pitch in my future as well.

From: Ryan: East Wenatchee, WA 5/12/14

Comments: Most sensitive, best built rod under 450 bucks made. Period! Actions are perfect!

From: Coosa Spot: AL

Comments: Good looking rid....looks to be built with quality componants for the most part...but I have to be honest. My St Croix Legend extreme is by far and even better built rod...and without question a more sensitive piece of equipment.

From: Dave: NC

Comments: JUST GOT THE XH 7 FOOT. I HAVE BEEN A ST.CROIX FAN FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS AND LOVE THE TOURNEY LINE. SINCE ST.CROIX CHANGED THEIR HANDLES I VENTURED OUT AND MUST SAY THAT I AM VERY IMPRESSED BY THIS ROD EXTREMELY SENSITIVE AND LIGHT. HAVE NOT CAUGHT ANYTHING OF SIZE BUT WILL STATE PAIRED WITH A CRONARCH THIS ROD IS AWSOME.

From: Tim: VA

Comments: I checked these rods out at the local Basspro shop, and found that the 7'2 Perfect Pitch has incredible balance and feel.  Definitely the one to try in this line up.

From: Mike: Nashville, TN

Comments: I picked up the 7'9XXH, I was hesitant because I thought the rod would be a little heavy but matched with a shimano core 50 I can fish this thing all day!  I was at the James River BASSMASTER open a week ago and I had a Bownfin that was between 10-12 lbs in some of the thickest pads the river had to offer.  If I was fishing one of my other heavy rods there's no way in hell I was getting that beast out of there.  Good to know if I tangle with a monster bass when im flipping I'll have what it takes to land the fish.

From: Sebastian: Massapequa, NY

Comments: I picked up the F6.5-70XX Jig & Worm when the were first released a few weeks ago.  After fishing it yesterday for an hour or so with finesse and 1/2oz football head jigs, I'm left feeling underwhelmed.  Compared to my other Daiwa Steez and Megabass Japan rods, this rod feels a little lifeless.  Understanding that the price point is almost $200 less than those rods, I still feel that this rod is a little too tip heavy and lacks the hyper-sensitivity of the Daiwa rods.  I'm going to give it another try tonight to see if it can change my mind. I really want to love this rod, but haven't been feeling it yet.

From: J: Nashville, TN, USA

Comments: I had been wanting to try Megabass Rods, but not exactly at $700+ a piece. I bought the Tour Versatile, Spinnerbait Special and Jerkbait Special and just used them all today for the first time, and at under $300 a piece, they are an absolute steal. I had originally planned on using the Spinnerbait Special for finesse jigs, but ended up trying the finesse jigs out on the Tour Versatile, and LOVED it. I could feel every little bump I went over or nibble from a bass. It has good backbone, so I plan on just making it my all around jig rod. The other two were outstanding as well, and have multiple uses for them other than just what the name says they are. I plan on eventually replacing all of my Loomis rods with these, without a doubt. I would compare this rod to the GLX series as far as sensitivity goes, but they seem to have more backbone for their weight than the GLX rods do. I haven't tried an NRX rod, so I don't know how they compare, but I would think the NRX's would be a step above these, considering they are $200 more.

F8-79XX Aaron Martens Flipping Special - This rod is perfectly suited for medium to heavy duty flipping and pitching. It is designed to flip and pitch 1/4oz to 1oz lures into the thickest cover you can find. The rod has a perfect blend of lightness and power, which is crucial to the versatility needed to perform a traditional 10ft flip on one cast, then a 30ft pitch on the next. It has the power to muscle the fish out of the thickest mats or wooded cover. Ideal for not only pitching Texas-rigged soft plastics and jigs, it can also pull double-duty as an excellent swimbait rod.

"The Flipping Special is the nicest flipping stick I've ever used. It's excellent for flippin' heavy line even with a light weight.  What separates this rod is you can flip weights as small as 1/8oz to 1/4oz and it's still very sensitive and lightweight. It's perfect for 1/2oz to 1-1/2oz flippin' rigs. Its sweet spot is at 1oz, where it is ridiculous. It's great for punching as well with weights from 1/2oz to 1-1/4oz. This rod is light and sensitive, yet it has got some serious beef to it." - Aaron Martens
