The Mustad Ultra Point represents the culmination of over a century of hook making experience by one of the world's oldest hook manufacturers. The Ultra Point incorporates the three-stage Opti-Angle sharpening technology which creates a true needle point that is stronger and resists bending better than conventional points while still providing a sticky-sharp hook. Mustad uses premium high-carbon steel that has been specially Nor-Tempered to increase strength as much as 30% over conventional tempering methods while still avoiding brittleness. The red finish resists corrosion and helps keep your hook needle sharp, fish after fish and that extra flash of red will often trigger a strike from aggressive bass.
Mustad Light Wire EWG hooks are perfect for use with small, skinny plastic worms and other soft plastics when you want the extra hooking power of the Extra Wide Gap hook. The Mustad Light Wire Hook will not add an excessive amount of weight to your rig, especially if you're using a splitshot rig or you want to fish weightless. If you're looking for an EWG finesse hook, here it is.

Comments: Used these hooks heavily over past few years and was hugely disappointed with Mustad discontinued them. Don't be fooled by the 'light wire' description...the 5/0 hooks are a bit heavier guage (although not as heavy as the megabite series)...where these hooks shine is with soft plastics that can 'ball up' (tubes, flukes, palm trees/ikas). Plus, it's possibly one of the shorter EWG hooks out there even with the very wide gap. This hook is/was an incredibly versatile, functional hook that I am still incredibly sad over the decision by Mustad to discontinue. Other brands of EWG hooks get a lot of press. These just flat out work and fish stay pinned.

Comments: These hooks are fantastic for drop shotting in sizes 1, 1/0, and 2/0 especially with fatter worms or zoom flukes/super flukes. These hooks got me onto the NH State team with a full limit with only using them on the final day. I just ordered enough for a few years but I think they are being fazed out (why, I don't understand), so get them while you can.
