Okuma Serrano Casting Reel - $174.99
Okuma has made some major strides in the baitcaster arena with the Serrano Casting Reel. Featuring a bold new look and new design concept, the Serrano is much lighter and more compact than previous Okuma models. Designed as an inshore reel, it has the utmost in corrosion protection. Okuma's CRC (Corrosion Resistant Coating) is applied to all internal and external parts and the CRC process actually penetrates and bonds to the metal, which significantly increases long-term protection. The A6061-T6 machined aluminum, anodized spool is also supremely corrosion resistant and available in two different sizes. The SR-200 features the deeper traditional spool for applications requiring more capacity, while the SR-200W features a ported spool design.
The rigid diecast aluminum frame of the Okuma Serrano ensures a solid base and the aluminum sideplate holds the gears in perfect alignment. The master gearing is machine cut from brass and provides smooth consistent winding energy. The 10-bearing drive system and precision Japanese ABEC-5 spool bearings also provide enhanced smoothness. Precise drag adjustments are simple with the micro-click star drag and the robust multi-disc carbonite drag system that delivers up to 11 lbs of drag pressure. The Okuma Serrano is a versatile reel that can perform consistently in brackish or freshwater environments. It has all of the features an angler could desire in a quality casting reel and matches up perfectly with the Okuma C3 Casting Rods.

Comments: I have been fishing with 2 Serranos for about 2yrs with jigs and plastics, and they are my go to casting reels. Once adjusted, you hardly have to worry about backlash and they are super smooth. So far, the durability has been great too. They are very compact and palm great. If considering Lews Tournament Pro(which I have), dont leave the Serrano(Helios and Komodo too) out of your choices as it is very nice reel

Comments: I received the Serrano and Okuma Komodo on demo yesterday. The Serrano is a nice reel and it is pretty smooth but for $20 more I would choose the Komodo. The Komodo is smoother and casts farther with little effort. The braking system on the Serrano looks and feels chintzy to me. I set the komodos braking system to 2 and the Serrano was set to 0. Casting the same lure the Komodo went further every time with less effort. All in all its a nice reel but i would spend the extra $20 to get the Komodo or Helios.

Comments: I've used the Okuma fly reels for years, never had an issue. Ive been watching them bring out ne bait casting for the past several years. It was a hard desision to dump all of My shimano's, by by Chronark's, by by Curado's, by by St. Croix Rods. Glad I made the switch. The Serrano is sweet, will out cast andy shimano I had, with ease. Smooth as butter and tuff as nails. I pop off the side plate, set it at #2 and adjust the brake under the crank from there, Done. I have several of the Serrano's alomg with 4 other models. Paired with the C3 rod and you have the perfect set up.

Comments: I got the SR-200W and liked it well enough to purchase a second. Unfortunately, less than a year in, they are both becoming harder to cast. I've never had a reel (much less 2) that have given the feeling of degrading this quickly. I haven't gotten them dirty and use them just like my Shimanos so I'm stumped as to what could be the problem. I'm sure I'll get around to opening them up but for now their on the shelf. When they work well, 2 thumbs up. Other constructive criticism - 1)I wish the side plate was hinged so it doesn't separate completely when you adjust the Velocity Control System. I'm always fearful I'll drop it in the lake 2)Getting to the guts of the reel is not as easy as other brands. That's why their on the shelf!

Comments: I just recently purchased the SR-200W because i wanted to try something new and because of the 30 dollar mail in rebate, first time in use, it was amazing, really smooth, cast really far, light, and loved it! Possibly better than my revo sx! I am looking forward to casting and fishing more with this reel. I was seriously impressed with this reel and will definitely buy more very soon!

Comments: Just got the Serrano 200W and paired it with a Powell Max rod. I can honestly say this is one of the best reels I have used to date. It is BETTER then any curado, or revo, trust me I used to own them. Very very tiny reel which makes it much easier to cast and hold in your hand. Its also nice and lightweight. This thing will cast a small crank further then my curado 50e, thanks to the ABEC 5 bearings. I would compare it to my Daiwa Zillion Coastal...as far as casting performance and retrieve performance...at half the price of a Zillion, you cannot beat this deal. The $30 rebate, 3 year warranty, and extra corrosion resistance makes this reel the best deal available today. I will be buying more.

Comments: I had won a SR-200 in a give-away on Bloodydecks.com and wanted to give it a workout. Put 30# Braid and fished it on a Abu Garcia Vendetta rod, caught Ling Cod up to 25#'s in 70-100 feet of water and it worked flawlessly. Great little reel with big reel abilities and the corrosion control on it makes it a great saltwater reel for inshore fishing.

Comments: Got the Serrano 200W and paired it with the Okuma C3 Swimbait rod. Love it. Super compact design fits in the hand nicely. Perfect for smaller hands. Hope they make a high speed model eventually. Take advantage of the $30 rebate and it makes the reel even sweeter.

Comments:Tried the Serrano 200w with an Okuma rod. "loved it"... Always used Shimanos. I really want a Serrano, I'm right handed but reel left handed. Still want to try one for pitch" n & flip"n. This reel will sweep the market in California, I'm seriously impressed.
