Overview

P Line started out on the West Coast and was quickly adopted as the best co-polymer line on the market by anglers of every type out there. Bass anglers liked the natural green color for stained water or the crystal clear for the clear water lakes and the abrasion resistance when fishing around structure is incredible. Saltwater anglers soon learned about the great knot strength and low stretch of P Line and fell in love with the immense strength of all the line classes. Trout anglers noted the strength per line diameter and realized they could step down in line diameters and still have incredibly strong line and when a big trout got them around a stick or a rock they knew the line would hold and the fish would be landed. This is the co-polymer line that can do it all from dropshotting and finesse fishing to flipping heavy jigs in thick cover to dragging spider jigs on deep structure. Try a small spool to fill a couple of reels if you haven't tried it already or buy the economical 600 or 3000 yard spools if you already know how good P Line really is.

Great for topwater bait fishing. We use the 8 and 10 lb. and had excellent performance when throwing topwater baits like spooks, Gunfish, Evergreen SB 125's, jointed wakebaits, and poppers. Landed everything from Largemouth up to 7-8 lbs. and Stripers over 25 on both the 8 and 10 on Lake Ouachita. I still use $10-#15 Clear Big Game Trilene for certain techniques at times on moving baits, and even throw some topwaters on braid- but most of my work on top is done with P-Line CXX Crystal Clear. This mono is as good as it gets & at a great price!

Comments: I like to try new lines...always looking for a better mousetrap so to speak. Always come back to CXX. High strength...low stretch...medium memory. Just make sure you shop by diameter. The 6lb is average diameter at .009", but 8lb is really more like a 10/12lb line. 10lb is like 14lb line, and the 12lb=15lb. This line gives you the low stretch and sensitivity that fluoro promised, yet failed to provide

Comments: I've used this line for past 7 years had no problems until this last year. I use 20 pound for big swim baits and the last 3 hook sets on fish the line just snapped. Everytime I snapped off I replaced the line thinking it was just a bad batch. But after 3 times it was time to get rid of it. It has also been happening to my 15 pound line as well it has been snapping on hook set more this year than the last 6yrs put together.

Comments: I've fished all the lines in the "Best Sellers" lineup from the floro to the braid and all I can say is with those "Best Sellers" you're wasting money. I feel the 10lb CXX is JUST as durable, JUST as powerful, JUST as sensitive as those others. 10lb CXX on a Med/Heavy Fast bait caster I can do EVERYTHING well.

From: Jamie: IN 8/4/22

Comments: P-Line CXX is good line, I have used it in the past year quite a bit. I'm a die hard Trilene fan, but I really do like the lower stretch of this line in certain situations. I would recommend this line.

From: Brian: Denver, NC 7/22/21

Comments: I tried this line in 6lb test on a spinning reel as part of a finesse setup, and it works pretty well... until it doesn't. I found its abrasion resistance, breaking strength, and memory to all be somewhat lacking when compared to the other reviews I read here on TW. In my experience, it seemed to be breaking off constantly even with very little force being applied(simply cinching down a Uni or Palomar knot when retying would cause it to snap occasionally). I wouldn't recommend using this line anywhere there's a chance of it getting wrapped or tangled around any kind of rocks, wood, or even grass, because it'll most likely break before you can work it free. If you can get it free, your line will almost certainly be frayed badly. If you hook a decent fish near any sort of cover, you'd better hope it doesn't manage to dive down into it, or you'll probably lose both the fish and your bait due to a break off, as I unfortunately experienced way more often than I'm willing to accept.
The amount of memory on this line was ridiculous as well, which caused it to get tangled around the reel and rod guides constantly. I was always forced to check my line for tiny knots due to tangles and wind between every cast because of this. It felt like using some low quality fluorocarbon in the memory department, only with added amounts of unwanted stretch.
All in all, while I caught plenty of fish while using this line as both a main line and as a leader on finesse setups for bass and crappie, in my opinion it's more trouble than it's worth. I personally found myself wishing I was just using some dirt cheap mono or something instead of this line pretty much the entire time I was using it. It was only a good line when it was still extremely fresh, but the "freshness" didn't last long at all, unfortunately. I would like to think I just had a bad spool sent to me, and that it's normally better than what I had, but I don't think I'd be willing to get any more to give it another try because of how bad it was for me. I can't in good conscience recommend this line to anyone, sadly.

Comments: Use 8lb clear in crystal clear spring fed fla ponds for ripping crankbaits through hydrilla.Wind caught my crankbait and it landed in a willow tree.Better bring some scissors....I cannot believe how strong this line is and I got my crankbait back which was buried in top of willow tree after 5 minutes of trying to break the line. Its also very limp/manageable especially if you use line conditioner.10 stars just like tackle warehouse's service.Buy it.

From: Michael: Ormond Beach 3/12/21

Comments: This line puts fish in the boat, period. If you are fishing for double digit fish, use this line, trust me. It has a little memory but, nothing reel snot or kvd line conditioner can't take care of. Spray it down the night before you go fishing. To be honest you can probably get away with the next size down than what you normally fish, it's that strong. Made in Japan, so you know it's good stuff. Thanks P-Line for a great product.

From: John: Lake Wales, FL 1/9/20

Comments: Use this in 6lb on your finnesse rods, it wont let you down.  HINT HINT HINT, i put it on 2 spinning rods 3 months ago the night before a tournament, i soaked the line in very warm water for 15 min, left it in the bucket and filled the reel, making sure it spun in the bucket of water, and it STILL behaves perfectly, lays flat on the water and have no issues. I feel taps on slack line JUST like the expensive line users claim.   This stuff wont break, you have to cut it if you hang up on something. On a Med/xfast or MedLight this is the BEST line.

From: Jamie - 8/15/19

Comments: This line is  ultra strong, got hung up using 8 LB test the other day and could't  break it  i had to cut it. i use the 8, 10, 12, 14 on all of my rods with the exception  one of my spinning rods has 15 LB Power Pro with 10 LB flouro leader. Best mono i've used in 40 years of fishing.

From: Menifee, CA 10/5/18

Comments: This is the strongest line i've ever used, it just won't break if you tie knot properly. i've used 17, 15, 12, 10 and 8 LB test, All are extremely strong. No use buying anything else. if you use 12 lb test you can downsize to 8 or 10 as it is  a very thick line .

From: Tony: Menifee, CA  9/20/18

Comments: I've been using this line for a year now and I've been so impressed with it that I've spooled up all my reels with it. A couple reviews state that it breaks easy but that's not the case. Tie a palomar knot on it and if you get hung up you'll be cutting your line. It also is good about not having memory.

From: Tim R: Missouri  7/24/18

Comments: Another crappy line . I tested it and tied on a spoon without a hook for a pull test. Every different knot I tried broke at the knot. I will not buy P-line again. And there flouro clear isn't much better.

From: Ed.R: Mooresville , NC 7/15/17

Comments: This is THE best line that there is. You can use it for flipping or any other technique. I have snapped rods before the line has snapped and that's saying alot

From: Unknown - 6/26/17

Comments: this is some stout line. has good abrasion resistance, very low stretch, overall im pleased with this line, i have been using the 17 and 20 for pitching spinnerbaits an topwater. my only complaint is the line digs in the spool terribly bad

From: Jack: Cape Girardeau, MO 9/26/15

Comments: Changed lines to the new style of P-Line I dont know what they did to it but its nowhere near as good as it has been in the past years in 5 hook sets I broke my line 5 times, not a happy camper.

From: Jake: Athens, AL 4/9/14

Comments: Best line I have ever used, and I have used a lot of them. Crystal Clear X-tra Strong 15lb and 17lb is my preferred choice.

From: Hector: Del Rio, Texas United States

Comments: Strongest line ever made. I am going to spool my weed eater one day. Just to prove how strong it is. If I am pitching heavy cover, I am pitching this line.

From: Nick: Prosperity, SC

Comments: During my early years of fishing, I started out using a highly popular main stream fishing line. I used this line due to the fact that it was readily available at any convenience store. However, once I bought my first boat, my fishing partners would laugh at me for using this "Rookie" fishing line. Grudgingly, I asked them what type of line they used. They told me that they used P-line. At that time, I hadn't heard of P-line, so I was hesitant to use it. However, after fishing out of my new boat several times, I had multiple large spotted bass break my traditional line. Afterwards, I went and put 12 pound test P-line on all of my reels. I made the switch about 11 years ago. Since that time, I have yet to lose a fish due to a line break. To date, P-line has never failed me. I put all of my fishing faith in P-line. It's absolutely the strongest line on the market.

Comments: Man i love this line my first year with it and its strong as cable and cast like mono. 2011 it will be on all my rods ,besides 2 that i night fish with . cant get this in florescent or it be on them 2 also . man i just cant say enough about this line trust me its the best i have used in 30 years of hard fishing. its a little bigger then most lines in its size so if you use like 15 its safe to use this in 12 and if ya get hung be ready to cut it cause it is extremely hard to break. (15 and 10) is my main lines .
