Comments: I had the 5000 size of this reel for throwing plugs for Striped Bass. It's junk! Handle comes loose after a few dozen or so casts and bail closes mid cast. Stay away from this series. They are no longer the Penn product they used to be.

Comments: bought this reel felt good at first then bail wire assy got loose so replaced it and after 2 weeks same thing. After about a month gears started feeling rough. You get what you pay for whrn you buy a product made in china.

Comments: I got the 500 version for saltwater, and man this thing is made for braid. It is built strong, smooth drag, and when I'm reeling it in it's unbelievable. I have to say this reel beats some of the 400-500 dollar reels.
