Comments: Unfortunely the replacement Penn Battle 2000 has done the same thing the first one did. The bail has broke and will not lock in a closed position. Only used this one a few times, had been less than 6 weeks since it was replaced. Hope they will replace this one.....

Comments: got these for baitfishing on our bait boat in miami, the reel did nothing but lock up after just two months of normal use and the bails were super sensitive after a while, this is TRASH,chinese junk, Penn is not the quality american company they used to be, if these reels were what they are supposed to be then we would have a hell of a product.
Comments: Bought 2 Battle 2000's for speckled trout and paired them with a 6'6" med-fast rod. Spooled with 8 and 10 lb braid. They cast a mile, reel smooth and have an excellent drag. However I have had a bail to fail on one of them. I took it back to East Coast Sports in Surf City and they replaced it with no questions. It's a wait and see thing now but I sure do like the way they feel and cast, especially for the price.

Comments: I had the 5000 size of this reel for throwing plugs for Striped Bass. It's junk! Handle comes loose after a few dozen or so casts and bail closes mid cast. Stay away from this series. They are no longer the Penn product they used to be.

Comments: I got the 500 version for saltwater, and man this thing is made for braid. It is built strong, smooth drag, and when I'm reeling it in it's unbelievable. I have to say this reel beats some of the 400-500 dollar reels.

Comments: Very smooth!!! Although a little heavy at 11 ounces this reel is a pleasure to fish with and is as smooth as many reels twice its price. The drag on these are exceptional as well. Pick one up and you wont be disappointed. Its a 9.8 out of 10!!
