Answering the call for increasingly lighter, more advanced, low-profile baitcasting reels, Pflueger introduces the Patriarch XT Casting Reel. Building upon their popular, top-of-the-line Patriarch Casting Reel design, Pflueger took several measures to reduce the weight of the Patriarch XT without compromising any of its strength or durability. The frame is constructed from rigid aluminum and the sideplates are fabricated from titanium-coated aluminum as opposed to the softer graphite commonly used to reduce weight in reels. Additionally, a new carbon fiber handle with lightweight EVA knobs and a machined, double anodized alumimum spool were also added to further reduce the weight of the reel, while enhancing the reel's performance.

The precision cut aluminum gears provide the Patriarch XT with its solid winding power and respectable 6.4:1 gear ratio. Keeping the reel smooth are 9 double shielded stainless steel ball bearings and a one-way clutch instant anti-reverse bearing. The main gear applied star drag system, complete with carbon fiber washers, delivers absolute lockdown capabilities and fluid transitions with a hefty 20 lbs of max drag. Providing a limitless range of cast control, Pflueger's exclusive Ultimate Brake System combines centrifugal and magnetic brakes into one seamless system. Comments: Great reel.  I don't believe you will be disappointed.  It casts great, the retrieve is smooth, and the drag is on the money.  I landed a 30lb plus carp on it and it performed beautifully.  The reel is a little on the small side for large hands, but is packed with great features.  Enjoy.

Comments: I now own three of these reels - I've been fishing with them as of the first of this year and have been quite impressed.  They are very light, have great drag, and cast a good distance.  It's also one of the smoothest reels I have felt.  I have brought in an 8 lb, 8 1/2 lb, and an 11lb 7oz. bass on these reels this year and it handled all them well!  I am happy with the product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a high-end reel.
