Nine (9) double-shielded stainless steel ball bearings and a one-way clutch instant anti-reverse bearing contribute to the reel's smooth functioning and worry-free performance. The rugged one-piece solid aluminum frame along with the aluminum handle side plate are precision engineered to ensure all moving parts are in line and functioning smoothly. This causes less wear and tear on the internal components and is one of the reasons for Pflueger's reputation of durability and longevity.
In addition, the main gear applied star drag system with carbon fiber washers provides hefty stopping power and easy adjustments. Mirroring the drags strength, the President Casting Reel is equipped with a Titanium line guide up to the task of handling today's braided super lines. The machined, anodized aluminum spool is ported for weight reduction and Pflueger added a lightweight aluminum handle with soft-touch knobs for additional weight curtailment. The Pflueger President Casting Reel also employs a patented six-pin adjustable centrifugal brake system for precision cast control, as well as, a soft-touch thumb bar spool release for added comfort and convenience. Comments: to me pflueger is under rated,they make great reels and they are smooth as peaches n cream.i just wish they would bring back the summit,thats my favorite reel from pflueger and one of my go to reels today...so pflueger if your listening please bring back the summit!!!! but anyone who buys a higher end pflueger wont be disappointed.

Comments: Nice small profile for easy palming. IMO the previous President cast 2x better and smoother. Also, maybe its just me, but this new President and also the Patriarch (incl. XT) makes this funny grinding noise when slow cranking... still a nice solid reel for the price.
