Customer Reviews

Comments: Amazing reel for the price. Smooth reeling and a silky smooth drag. Love the 20 for throwing dropshots, shakeyhead etc. It can flat out handle fish as well. Caught my person best (10.3lbs) on it tossing a dropshot. Would highly recommend this reel.

Comments: I've got 2 of the Trion 40s & I gotta say they last a long time & hold up for a good price.

Comments: Got the original version with the wooden reel knob when I was 6 (10 years ago) & it still works good as new! Didn't clean it until I got big on large mouth (about 2 years ago) but before I used it in salt water for reds & specks. Never greased or oiled not once. Even dropped in salt & still worked. I don't know about this newer version but I'd say it's a bang for the buck!

Comments: Very good reel I use mine for trout fishing the drag is good.and casts a 1/16 ounce jig about 17 yards with 4 pound test. I've caught four.2 pound rainbow trout with this reel. i also crappie fish with it also. don't think twice about getting this buy it now!

Comments: This is a nice reel. Ive had mine for about a year now and its still going strong. Handles any line you put on it. The only problem ive had using it was when it was very difficult to reel but it went away shortly. Biggest bass I caught on it was a 24" smallie, about 7 pounds, ive caught 100s of bass on this reel including my first muskie. Its a great beginner reel with a great price.

Comments: Great reel. It's very smooth and holds up well. The most trouble I've had is the light oil makes the drag not work in the cold weather. Replacing the oil with some WD40 fixes it. For 40 dollars don't think twice about it; it's a sound purchase.

Comments: I've had it for 2 years, and zero issues. I've used it with fc, braid, and mono. Throws well, and can handle just about anything you set the hook on. Super value at this price point.

Comments: GREAT REEL! I chose this over the pflueger president because this holds up better in saltwater. Use this for light inshore and bass.

From: Alex: MD 8/7/14

Comments: This is a great and smooth reel. I am happy with it and have used it for 2 years now. I have only encountered two problems with it both are easily fixed. The first and primary is that sometimes my braid line catches on the lip by the drag; if you cast out far again it will correct itself. Second is they use a lightweight oil for the drag which causes the drag not to work if it's a bit nippy out.

From: Walter: MN 6/10/14

Comments: Reel is smooth but braid loops over the top of the spool all the time.  Next time you cast, you have a mess.  Happens four or five times in a full day of fishing.

From: George: Marinette wi

Comments: Just a cosmetic update of the GX7, a great and affordable reel anyway. But for the same price than the GX7 you don't have any spare spool which was great to have braid on one and mono onthe other one to match the conditions on the water.
