Comments: I have the 7'1" ML. It is super light and sensitive. Looks real nice. However, the build quality could be better for the price. The wood finish started coming off from the reel seat. I had to use super glue to glue it back on. But other than that this rod is super nice to fish with. I bought it to pair with my scorpion bfs reel to be my bfs setup due to the lure rating of 1/16 but it is a little bit too powerful for a true bfs rod. I'd say the sweet spot for this rod is lures in the 1/4 to 3/8 range with 1/4 being the best. Right now I mainly throw small crankbaits, small jerk baits, and small swim baits on it.

Comments: Reviewing the 7'6 Heavy. These rods are really really light and sensitive. I have many high end Japanese made rods and this blank is on par with those. The build quality isn't quite the same compared to those Japanese rods... but I did not expect it to be. What sold it for me is the US Warranty from Phenix. Well worth getting this stick. Sensitivity is insane and the rod is NOT tip heavy. Rod only weighs only 130 grams on my scale.. which is a little lighter than my Megabass Western Flip MH 7'6. The heavy model is more like a MH... so if you need a MH rod this is the one. For bottom contact you cannot go wrong with these blanks.

Comments: I have the 714 and I think the closest thing I can compare to would be the NRX 853 but a little lighter action (think 852.5). I have really enjoyed fishing the K2 over the past 2 years as it is crazy light and equal if not more sensitive than the NRX. The build quality for a production rod is second to none. One thing I notice is the rod fees lighter because the grip seems to be shaved down and significantly smaller than average. For a rod based on being light, this is a great feature and makes the rod balance well with an Aldebaran. For light (1/4 or so) bottom contact baits, I think you would be hard pressed to find a better stick. Insanely light and top level sensitivity! Drawbacks... I worry about durability (no experience to base this on, just because it is so light) and the action is a little softer than the NRX line (some may argue this makes it more versatile, but I focus on using this for bottom contact/feel baits). Bottom line: I would and will get another.

Comments: I purchased the 7'6" heavy K2 rod about six months ago and placed an Aldebaran reel on it.  One of my passions is high end fishing rods. I own Loomis GLX and NRX as well as St Croix Legend elite and Legend Extreme. The K2 action has been overstated compared to similar rods; I would call the action medium. After attempts to fish 1/2 oz weedless jigs with this rod in deep water, I was disappointed in the lack of power in hook sets. Then I started using the rod for 1/4 and 3/8 oz open hook jigs with success. The sensitivity and light weight of this rod can't be beat by any rod I have used. It is perfect for finesse casting rod applications. I'm trying to justify a second K2.

Comments: Finish building my Phenix k2 casting rod 7'3 blank.  Super light for a 7'3, it took a while to put this rod together but it was well worth it.
