Exclusively available at Tackle Warehouse, the Powell Max Football Jig Rod was designed by Bassmaster Elite Series pro and Tackle Warehouse pro staffer, Jared Lintner. Designed for fishing football jigs, it also excels with casting jigs and other jig types. Jared and Powell spent a significant amount of time designing and field testing, going through several different prototypes before they got all the features just right.
Most jig rods have a sweet spot of 3/8-5/8oz, so when you go to throw a 3/4-1oz jig, the rod is overpowered, and you have to change rods. The Powell Football Jig Rod has a soft extra fast tip for throwing jigs down to 3/8oz, but it can still handle the heavier weights with the sensitivity and power you need to detect bites and make solid hooksets - even in 30-60 ft of water. Lintner also designed it with a little bit longer handle than the other Powell Max rods, because when you are dragging jigs, especially in the winter-time, you can tuck the rod butt next to your side and down along your arm, giving you a really good feel for the bait, and allowing you to make a sweeping hookset if necessary. But it's not designed just for dragging jigs either, it also works great for stroking them 4-6ft off the bottom and generating reaction bites, which is especially effective in the South and other parts of the Country. Equipped with premium Fuji components, including Fuji Alconite Guides and a Fuji blank-thru reel seat, the Powell Max Football Jig Casting Rod delivers the goods for fishing football jigs.
Comments: love this rod. Use it for everything but sadly to say, it gave up on me yesterday. Snapped in half. Gonna send it in and get me a new one but it's gonna take 3 months cause its out of stock. I highly suggest this rod.
Comments: Love this rod. Great for chatters but also BBZ1 swimbaits. Took this rod to Lake Powell and threw topwater, big jerks, and small swimbaits and it worked like a charm and handled the big stripers better than expected.

Comments: Not just good for football jigs I have been using this rod for pitching jigs and feel the tip and backbone compliment to really get a clean hook set and pull a bass out of cover.

Comments: Received the Powell Max Football Casting Rod last week and paired it up with a Shimano E7. Fished with the rod Thursday on Kentucky Lake. Caught fish all day, several 3 lb, without missing a fish. This rod is so light and well balanced, never seen a rod perform like this Powell Rod.

Comments: April 13, 2011. I knew this rod was coming out so I called TW and they let me order it before it got on the website. I thought it was a 754 but ended up being a 753, which I am glad because I wanted MH. I used it this past weekend and I am very happy with it. ItÕs cold up here and I had 4 soft bites, my fault but I only capitalized on one 3 pound smallmouth, because I took my sweet time setting the hook and swung water. It handled the fish flawlessly and had no problem swinging the fish in the boat. I felt every nibble, rock, stone, mud, grass; you name it with this rod. It is light, casts like a dream and balances nicely with my Zillion. I would definitely recommend this rod. Also I would definitely recommend Tackle Warehouse and Powell, their customer service is excellent!
