Exclusively available at Tackle Warehouse, the Powell Max Punch Rod was designed with the help of Bassmaster Elite Series veteran and Powell pro staffer, Jared Lintner. Punching mats in the Summer is one of Jared's specialties, and a great way to catch big bass. With punching, it is really important to have the proper equipment. Your normal flipping stick or heavy action rod just won't due a lot of the time. While you need a rod that can handle the bigger weights - up to 2-ounces - to help you penetrate the thick stuff and pry big fish out of dense vegetation, the rod can't be all backbone either. It needs a soft tip that won't tear the bait out of the fish's mouth on hooksets, and also allows you to really snap the bait under the mats and generate reaction strikes. Extremely lightweight and well balanced, the Powell Max Punch Rod has all the attributes you need for punching. It measures in at a full 8 feet in length, has a nice, soft tip with plenty of backbone, and it comes equipped with premium Fuji components.
Comments: So far so good! Rod feels good, though can get a little worn down flipping the heavier weights all day... kind of have to expect that with an 8ft rod and 1 ounce + punch weights. Probably going to go with a lighter reel and that should help a lot. Doubles up as a nice "top-hook" swimbait rod, I even throw an umbrella rig on this rod no problem (picasso rig with one 3/8oz weight, two 1/16oz weights and two dummy baits). Would certainly recommend this rod to anyone looking for a nice punch rod they could multi-purpose with.

Comments: Rod feels great. Just have to wait a few months until it can be use.
Comments: This rod is great!! for an 8 footer it is light weight, and handles the big punch weights with ease. I'd like to thank Jared Lintner and Powell on a job well done....

Comments: feels lighter than my previous punch rod must be the balance, punching is now much easier, very sensitive, enough to feel the dinks inhaling 1.5 oz punch setup plenty stong to yank cal delta monters from the abyss

Comments: Rod is legit. Great tip and action, but this rod is not a 2x4, felt the bites while having the power to drag fish outta the mats, or keeping them pinned while diggin the fish out. Paired with 65 & 80 power pro, curado, 1.5 oz and 3/4 oz flippin weights, both worked well. Love this rod.

Comments: I have been eyeing this rod for some time.. Somebody please give more feed back, esp using braid and fluro/ light to heavy weights.
Comments: This rod is exactly as TW and Mr. Litner have described it. Perfect tip, great backbone without being a broomhandle. Handles like a rod a lot smaller. I paired mine with a smoke 150hpt and 80lb braid and it is one awesome combo.
