Comments: I own several, some newer some older, the newer ones are terrible some of the problems I have experienced is, older ones are meh . 1. Half of them at some point in time have the drag click and pawl system break, I mostly fish light 2-4lb line and it pays out alot, but it should still not fail on every other reel. 2. They use tractor grease out of the factory that siezes up in cold water to hide the fact that the gears are made by a blind baboon with a hammer and chisel. If you service this reel and put a lower viscosity grease the reel with become geary instantly, they pack the thing with tractor grease the consistency of a wax candle to create an illusion of artificial smoothness 3. Line lay is an absolute joke, on lighter braids it literally looks like oil siphon, sent images to customer service and they told me to send 20$ for the service and pay two way shipping for servicing, I said they are all like that out of the box and I need washers i will buy the part, they said they don't sell them to the consumers and I have to let their "pROfEssiaNAlz" fix the problem. I told them I'll just put the money toward a Shimano or diawa reel and won't be buying pure fishing anytime soon. 4. Customer service it sucks period... in fact all of pure fishing sucks and haven't bought anything from the incompetent sense 2018. I have had better customer service from the mandarin language barrier aliexpress shops than these apes... its pretty criminal that they get away with this. P.S, all reels where thrown in a bonfire, every time I saw them they made me want to stab my eye with a fork, they had to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the fishing law for touching nice diawa and shimano rods, they deserved justice.....

Comments: I have several old Presidents that I love and work great, so I got a new one to add to the bunch. More or less instant regret. The new one does not lay down line evenly. It bunches toward the base even on a straight line retrieve. If you are working a lure, forget about it. All the line will end up at the bottom of the spool, and your next cast will be a huge birds nest. What a disappointment. Going with Daiwas for any new spinning reels after this experience. Should have just returned it but didn't get around to testing it in time. I guess its a junker the kids can use, don't care if they destroy it.

Comments: A year ago I would have agreed that for the money the President series of reels was the best buy. I finally wore out one of my three President series reels after several years of hard fishing. Purchased another of the same. A second or third trip on the water and the bail blew apart sending some of the parts overboard. I thought getting replacement parts would be simple since I still had recent proof of purchase. Buyer beware. They do not have poor customer service, they have no customer service. Multiple emails and emails without any assistance. Will be switching to a more reputable manufacturer.

From: Tim: Collinsville, VA 12/29/22

Comments: Have been fishing these reels for years. Finally wore one of them out. For the price point, not a big deal or so I thought. Bought a new Pflueger President last spring. Third time out river fishing and the bail literally blew apart due to a failure of a simple screw. Some of the parts went overboard from my kayak. Made numerous attempts to contact Pflueger via email and phone calls with messages left. Crickets..... Buyer beware. Pflueger does not stand behind their product. Not bad customer service....no customer service. I own four of these reels but will be replacing them with another brand.

From: Tim: Collinsville. VA 12/26/22

Comments: Easily the smoothest and most reliable spinning reel ever made for the money. I have a president that I have used and used hard for almost 10 years and have had not one issue with it. Absolutely unreal performance at the price point. Legitimately competes with my $200+ spinning reels, truly

From: Garrett: Joplin, MO 12/16/22

Comments: This is a tried and true reel. Have it in the 2000 size paired with a St Croix Triumph and it's a fantastic combo, especially for the price. The President is a workhorse of a spinning reel and I'd recommend it to anyone looking to put together a good cost-effective combo!

From:  Clayton: Pittsburg 8/30/21

Comments: This is the best spinning real for the money it casts so smooth for a 60 dollar reel. I Have three of t hese and have never had a problem

From:  Unknown 12/3/20

Comments: I've had this reel for the past 6 years, still going strong. Amazing reel for the price.

From: Adam: Long Island 4/1/20

Comments: I had a similar situation with the binding on the reel, something was definitely wrong, I'll stick to Daiwa reels from now on.

From: Elliott: St Paul, MN 9/16/19

Comments: I returned my first one due to binding so bad after a few weeks of use that the reel was no longer usable, and I got a replacement of the exact same reel. Long story short, the new replacement had the exact same issue a few weeks later, and im not hard on my gear. I'm very disappointed with this reel. I will be returning the second one and going with a different brand.

From: Dan 5/28/19

Comments: I fish this reel in tournaments and have fished it in the salt and have never had any issues with corrosion, binding or castability. The reel has a very smooth retrieve and smooth gears. The only complaint I have is how the handle screws out of the body of the reel as opposed to having a screw on the other side.

From: Nolan - Rochester, NY 11/10/18

Comments: I've had this reel for a year and it continues to perform excellently. If you want a sure-fire spinning reel for a decent price, this is the reel for you.

From: David: Texas 6/21/18

Comments: I got this reel for my birthday on an ultra-light rod and without a doubt this is my new favorite reel, I rigged it up with 4 lb test and made it a bluegill killing machine, catching dozens of slab bluegills. I plan on switching between  the ultra-light and a small drop shot setup. 100% recommended!

From: Unknown: Iowa 5/16/18

Comments: Have owned these in the past and they would be constantly amazing me trip after trip. Casts great, effortless function and when you book a nice fish, the drag works better than any other reel period. I am starting to finnese fish for bass more as well as use plastics in new ways, so a spinning outfit is being used enough to warrant needing one that not only performs great but doesn't break the bank after buying a new boat the end of last year. Ended up spending days and days researching different features on many brands of reels. Diawa and Abu Garcia always are top contenders but the features you get with the President were $40+ more.  Seeing the new sealed drag and look, I bought a new size30 pronto! I usually never write reviews on gear but this brand of reels are top notch for any price and support a company so it continues to make money and great reels.

From: r.o.n. Lake Havasu City, AZ 2/9/18

Comments: Have owned a pair of 25 series reels and used them extensively for the past three seasons.  At least one of them is nearly always on my front deck with a Ned Rig or a very small underspin tied on either 4 or 6lb Flouroclear or Yo-Zuri Hybrid.  Zero problems functionally, and smoothness on par with other reels costing 2-3X.  Fished Daiwa Capricorn and Emblem reels about 20 yrs ago, and Shimano Stradic's for almost 10 years before that, and with current pricing levels, I don't see myself going back to either of these brands.  I have established the habit of taking ALL of my heavily used reels, no matter what the make and type, apart at least to the level of being able to properly lubricate and clean them twice a season.  If done correctly at the beginning of the year, the mid-year service is more of a cleaning and touch up.  You will find your investment in this time spent to yield performance and peace-of-mind, not to mention being able to hold onto a bit more of your money(after all there are always new baits and lines to try).  It should go without saying, but for those who are having casting/line management issues:  1.) Learn to properly load your spools.  2.) Develop a habit to the point of it being second nature to CLOSE YOUR BAIL BY HAND AFTER CASTING.  I know some of the best reels out there, and these Presidents are no exception, easily close the bails with very little forward handle rotation, but you cannot be efficient on the water having to look all over your spool for "tension loops" every time you start a retrieve.  Your fingers will learn to tell you in a couple of seconds whether you are having tension winding differences that will cause you grief on the next cast or so.

From: Chris: Clinton, MO 1/27/18

Comments: I am not affiliated with Pflueger in any way. I have fished with these reels for over 10 years. Along with bass tournaments, I fish Canada yearly and make literally thousands of casts throughout the season with these reels. I have NEVER had any problems with them. Take care of them, make sure you clean them after the season is over and they will last a long time. For the money, you can't beat them.
Sometimes reviews are a sounding board for some who like to complain. Get out and fish!

From: Unknown 1/23/18

Comments: I love this reel. Very smooth, and no wabbling when retrieving a lure. Only thing I don't like is I use this for drop shotting. With 8 pound flourocarbon, the drag isn't strong enough to break the line. Kinda annoying, but good for the price. 8/10

From: Taylor: Auburn, CA 1/17/18

Comments: I use this reel for saltwater and it is pretty good. I'd say it is as good as my shimanos but way cheaper. I have 30 pound braid on it and it casts perfectly. I use mine for fluke and porgy fishing. I recommend it for anyone with a small budget.

From: John: Connecticut 9/25/17

Comments: Junk! These NEW presidents are a huge disappointment. I bought two of them to replace two older presidents that were worn out. After two trips both reels started binding jus like the shimano spinning reels used to do. No more pflueger for me. The daiwa bg and shimano stradic are really the only two spinning reels worth buying anymore.

From: Nick: Illinois 9/22/17

Comments: I was a Shimano loyalist for many years (before I had a family to support), amassing 5 Stradic models between the mid 90s and 2010.  I picked up a Pflueger President in a pinch a few years ago, and was so impressed with the performance that I have gone back a few more times, including 2 Supreme models.  I can't justify spending the extra coin on other brands when I can get the same ride from Pflueger.  I find that they do require one extra lube maintenance a year, but I'm down with that.

From: Woody - Doylestown, PA 9/19/17

Comments: Absolutely the finest spinning reel for the price and rivals competitive reels selling for 3-4 times more!  Absolutely smooth and "tight" (no gear play or backwinding play).  2+ years of heavy fishing on mine without incident.  Primarily use flourocarbon on this reel, 8-12 lbs for my freshwater bass finesse fishing.

From: Pat - Hartland, MI 9/19/17

Comments: Whoever "unknown" is should probably give up fishing if he can't cast 10ft with any reel, never mind with what most would agree is the best spinning reel on the market, dollar for dollar. I have 3 of these, as well as many other Pflueger reels, and they all perform great everytime I hit the water, year after year, cast after cast. You will hear a lot of people say Shimano is better, and I have used some really great Shimano reels, but dollar for dollar, even the Shimano's aren't better than the Pflueger's...I would challenge anyone to find a better reel for under $80.

From: Slayer - RI 9/18/17

Comments: I have this reel and have had NO  problems with it.  I put on 12 lb braid and casts great!! Wasn't bad with mono either.  Decent reel for the price.

From: Michael Swedesboro 9/14/17

Comments: Don't know what the guy's problem is with his setup where he can't cast more than 10ft.....However, I've had my president(s) for three years now.  Absolutely zero issues whether running mono or braid.  I find them to be very smooth and of good quality for the price.  When I barely tap the handle and it rotates more than a full turn, i'd say its smooth enough.

From: Ryan H: Ohio 8/22/17

Comments: Umm, this review knocking the Pfluger President reel, stating a 22-year old reel is better should be 100% ignored. In fact, just visit Cabelas or Bass Pro and read the reviews there of this reel. I've been fishing for 30+ years now, with a mixed bag of value/entry level gear to tournament-ready gear, and everything in between. I recently upgraded my spinning kits (6 total reels so far), all to Presidents, and I've had ZERO issues at all. In fact, I've yet to feel that these $60 reels perform LESS than my $200 reels, and THAT is why I bought them. I can easily get $150-$200 performance out of these reels. Now that the new model has a sealed drag, they are only making them better without raising the price. I also have a Summit XT and Purist model, which I love those as well. The Summit XT has a 6.2:1 ratio, which I enjoy having in the line up. Anyway, I could keep going about how awesome the President line from Pfluger really is, but don't just take this review and run with it. Watch YouTube videos, read reviews on other sites or just go hold one for yourself. DO NOT let the price fool you, this reel is probably one of, if not THE, best deals in a spinning reel from anyone.

From: LGBassMaster: Tennessee 8/10/17

Comments: This is the absolute worst reel I have ever owned! It doesn't cast more than 10 ft maybe and tangles up like crazy. I have spent tons of money on line trying to find some that works and my conclusion is that it is the crapy reel. My 22 year old Abu Garcia performs better than this POS!
