Comments: This reel is very light, compact and nice looking, but it is not as durable as other casting reels comparable in price. This reel performs more like a reel you would pay $45 - $60 dollars for. Before fishing with this reel, make sure the manufacturers recommendation is followed for lubrication and it will work alright. If you want a small, compact reel that performs okay, the code will fit the bill, if you want a smooth reel that will perform flawlessly, pay a few more bucks and get an Accurist or 5500.

Comments:I would like to say that my wife bought me a code combo from a unnamed sporting goods store for fathers day this year. After fishing, I was so pleased that I went to the store and bought one myself and have absolutely enjoyed both of them. I fish for bass at home and speckle trout and reds at the coast. As far as matching code rods that came with the reels, I traded those in for rods with cork grips instead of the foam grips. Cork is just my personal preference

Comments:I just purchased the Quantum Code Casting Reel 861CX and I'm totally impressed, from the time I put the line on to when I started fishing. After using lower gear ratio reels for many years, I have learned how to fish it. I admit I bird-nest three times but once I got the lure dial-in and realized I did not have to cast so hard compared to my old bait-caster. I am sold on this reel. Oh yeah, I compared prices on many other web sites (e.g., Basspro), Tackle Warehouse had the best price, plus free shipping. Next buy - spinning reel.
