By putting ball bearings only in the most critical points, Quantum was able to create an affordable reel with the smooth functioning and features today's anglers demand. Housed inside the reel's sturdy frame, seven (7) Performance Tuned Polymer-Stainless Steel Hybrid Ball Bearings are specially designed for Quantum reels, not the stock bearings (made for other applications) that most reel manufacturers use. This helps further minimize vibration and friction for consistently smooth retrieves and handling. Quantum also only uses high-strength grades of aluminum to ensure that the reel's solid one-piece Aluminum Frame and Side Plates hold all critical components in perfect alignment and won't flex even during heavy cranking.
Extremely versatile as well, the Quantum Kinetic PT works great for throwing anything from spinnerbaits and topwaters to pitching soft plastics. The Kinetic's Micro ACS Cast Control System with its external dial, allows the angler to easily fine-tune the amount of centrifugal braking necessary to perfectly match any fishing situation. The PT Ceramic Drag System also supplies some key innovations. Comments: I have owned 3 Quantum reels and this one will be my last. Both my baitcast reels had the drag burn up on them, and the spinning reel drag was very choppy. Big problem for me considering the drag is the most important function of a reel. The drag pressure on this reel is weak and the ratings can't be correct. Plastic drag star, however the reel is very nice to palm. If you are going to go with Quantum look at the Energy line or above and I think you will be okay.
