Comments: I've fished this for about a year. At first, had to order a new tension knob from Quantum because the original kept loosening up after a few casts, resulting in a backlash. Once the new knob is on, it cast fine. But no comparison to the discontinued Tour S3, which is by far my favorite non-Shimano or non-Daiwa baitcaster and can be found on auction sites for around $120. If you do want to try the Vapor, look for sales: At the $50 I paid for it, it's a really good budget reel. But insanely overpriced at $150.

Comments: This one is a work horse.. I have abused this guy for 2 plus years, never cleaned it no service and it keeps gettin -em in for me. I like the bigger cork nobs and handle... a bit expensive on TW but a great reel no doubt... Fish - On !!

From: MG: Rifa 7/1/23

Comments: Decent performing reel at this price point. Aluminum frame and casts smoothly. I'm not sure when in comparison to other reels with the same features, it may be a bit overpriced. I do enjoy this reel and its on one of my main setups. The one advantage it does have is its warranty. I abused this reel and had some issues and when I contacted them they honored the warranty.

From: Chuck: Upstate, NY 12/10/21

Comments: Just picked this reel up on the weekend and had a chance to use it. Had it paired up with my TFO tactical bass 7' MH rod. I'm somewhat confused with some of the reviews claiming it doesn't cast well or has a "light" hesitation or grinding when retrieving. I experienced the complete opposite. I was throwing a Texas rigged flat worm with 3/16 oz weight on 20# braid, and had zero issues. Castability was excellent imo, and I happened to land my season PB @ better than 6#. Drag was stout and retrieve smooth. For a reel at this price I'm pleased with its performance. For comparisons sake, I also throw the SLX XT and happen to like the Quantum a smidge better due to the thumb bar being a bit lower than the XT. Prior to using I lubed spool and worm gear FYI. Anyway, take this review for what it's worth. Reel retrieves smoothly, adjusts easily to lure weight and casts extremely well. It's a solid purchase at its current price point.

Comments: Terrible reel breaks don't work you either get 10ft or 25ft with a birds nest I use jigs with it in the 7:0:1 gear and i tourney fish so when I have to blow up this reel barely casting it waste time I sold this reel isn't smooth and feels very heavy for some reason it grinds as well I belive it's over lubed but it only had about 150 cast on it

From: Rudy: Unknown 10/6/21

Comments: I really wanted to love this reel but 3 trip started having trouble, worst being the cast bar would not completely disengage after every cast...finally just trashed it and lost 150.00...sadly not worth the $$$$. have the smoke s3 and the tour s3...save a few more dollars and get one of those, the difference is dramatic

From: Bob: Pennsylvania 7/17/21

Comments: Just took this thing out for the first time. Overall, very smooth casting and reeling. The braking system is a little noisy, hoping that a little extra lube with fix that. For my money, spend the extra $20 to get the Smoke; there is a noticeable difference in quality and performance.

From: Triston: Iowa 7/10/21

Comments: Great reel. This reel is not quite as smooth as the Smoke S3 or the Tour, but I can cast a little further with it. I also like the fact it holds a little less line because I mainly use Sunline Sniper FC and even buying the big spool it's about eight cents per foot. Overall I do like it and the only reason I bought it was because of a sale price. If you can spend the extra twenty bucks and get the Smoke S3 it is noticeable smother and solid feeling.

From: Gary: Natchez, MS 1/21/21

Comments: This is a very nice reel. I had never bought a Quantum product before but took a chance because this is one of the only reels on the market with cork handles, which I prefer. I have been extremely pleased with it. Casts are smooth and go nice and far. Handle is very comfortable in the hand and the finish is nice and fairly durable. Being rated for saltwater and freshwater is a great bonus too, I can bass fish with this on the lake and then drive down and fish the marsh for reds with the same gear.

From: Nate: Texas 1/7/21

Comments: I purchased the Vapor based on the majority of positive reviews. After opening the box, I noticed a subtle grinding at the very end of making a full rotation of the reel handle. Approximately 350 degrees of the rotation were buttery smooth, but the last 10 degrees had the grinding. I took off the side plate and removed the spool to see what was going on. The grinding didn't occur with the spool removed, so I assume that there must be something going on within the side plate. I don't think it is the spool, because the spool would rotate completely multiple times before the grinding. I figured that this may be something that will go away after the reel breaks in. I took it out on the water and fished with a 1/2 ounce chatter bait. The grinding wasn't noticeable while fishing, and the vibrations of the bait transmitted very well through the reel. After using it for about 30 minutes I checked to see if the grinding had gone away. It is still there. It is only noticeable when reeling the handle very slowly. I will continue using this reel in hopes that it just needs more time to break in. If it were not for the subtle grinding, I would say that the Vapor is a solid reel that feels great in my hand and fishes very well. However, due to said problem, I can not give this reel a five star rating. I have purchased many bait casters in the past for less than half the price of the Vapor, and none ever had this issue.

From: Kenneth: McDonough, GA 2/18/20

Comments: Hate admitting it but this out performs all the $300-400 reels I have, I begrudgingly pick this reel up and use it almost all day leaving the high dollar reels strapped down. If ur just starting out, get this reel.

From: Jon: Philadelphia, PA 2/9/20

Comments: Smooth casting just have to spend a little time adjusted it.

From: Duane: Turlock 9/11/19

Comments: Concur with most, this is a great reel..went with two MG pt tours ($300) and a smoke, I was casting it and flipping with it and all the while assumed it was my MG, looked down and was shocked when I saw it was the vapor I randomly tossed on my exo rod. Cast great/light and was pulling big fish from the pads

From: Jon: PA 7/9/19

Comments: One word... Amazing. This real is by far the best in my arsenal. It's super light, strong and can cast forever. Quantum is fast becoming my go to brand for baitcasters. I also own the Icon PT from Quantum and it's awesome as well. And for sure there are plenty of great baitcasters out there from multiple brands. Just really like Quantum. Doing a great job guys. Keep it up.

From: DJ: Carrollton 4/13/19

Comments: I now own a Vapor spinning and bait casting rod/reel combo. Both are top notch, but the baitcasting reel is especially impressive. It casts smoothly and accurately. Once you have the reel dialed in, you can make long casts effortlessly. Comfortable and smooth, this coupled with a 7â•ÂË™ Vapor rod has become my go-to combo for topwaters, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, and swim jigs.

From: Joseph: Arlington, VA

Comments: This reel is phenomenal. Very smooth on the cast and can be adjusted very easily. It feels great in the palm and is quality made. It looks awesome and I love the cork nobs. I will be getting more of these.

From: Eric: Arlington, VA 1/20/19

Comments: I own two of these reels and they are outstanding, especially for this price point. The retrieve is smooth as silk and they cast a mile. I use one to throw topwater and it is amazing how far I can throw a popper in to a group of schoolers. I plan on eventually replacing all of my oldwr Abu Garcias with these as they age and wear out. I fish a couple times a week year round and these reels have stood up to the heavy use with no issues. Highly recommend!

From: Ol Jim: KY 12/7/18

Comments: Everything about this real says they worked very hard at making an amazing reel for the price point. Super smooth drag cast a mile , effortlessly. Don't try to wing it to hard its not necessary. The crank and esspecially the grips are top notch , I absolutely love the grips they form to your finggers just enough to make slipping a thing of the past. This reel put quantum back on the radar for me.

From: Eric: Alpine 6/23/18

Comments: I have had this reel for under 5 months and it already has started to sqeek. I have oiled it every 2 months and thought it was just the oil sqeeking. But it has been doing this for the past 2 trips.

From: Matt - Dallas, TX 4/26/18

Comments: I never write reviews but have had this reel for over a year and it's been phenomenal i fish multiple times per week  and always bring this one with me blows my mind that it dose not have more reviews or videos on youtube looks awesome on my duckket rod as well

From: Unknown 3/11/18

Comments: Best reel for its price,I cant stop telling people to get this reel. The reel is very smooth and can cast like a dream. The only things I would say is the reel need better pain on it, it rubs off very easy and upgrade the drag and thats it over all hands down my favorite reel i have.

From: Unknown - 12/13/17

Comments: reminds me of the older e100hpt energy platform. enjoy it so far, super smooth and easy to set up. Always a quantum fan, and continue to be a satisfied customer!

From: John: Lyndeborough 10/26/17

Comments: These reels are excellent for the price.  Smooth and cast really far.

From: Unknown 8/7/17

Comments: Such a bad a$$ reel! I use it for jigs with 20lb sunline fluro, also have it on a Denali kovert 7'2" mdhvy. Amazing set up. This reel is sooo smooth! Definitely under priced for the quality you get.

From: Brian: Wautoma 6/1/17

Comments: I have used a lot of different reels over the last 25 years, some reels I thought could never be matched, but I was wrong, take a look at the Quantum Vapor !!!!  this really is a smooth and affordable reel, I will be buying a lot more !!!!
