Overview

Precisely engineered to dive fast to a preset depth and stay in the “strike zone” longer than any crankbait on the market, the Rapala DT Series Crankbaits DT10 has been proven effective at the highest levels of tournament fishing. Made from the top 7% of balsa wood, the Rapala DT Series Crankbaits DT10 utilizes carefully placed internal weights, tapered fuselage and thing tail design creates the ultimate crankbait action. The ultra-thin polycarbonate lip digs the bait down quickly to the desired depth.

Swimming with a side-to-side action only balsa crankbaits can achieve, the Rapala DT10 Series Crankbaits dive down to 10ft, yet pulls with ease. Perfectly weighted to provide a “quick-dive” nose down position, allowing for immediate descent to desired depth, the DT series be easily cast 150ft. Simply put, the longer the cast, the longer the bait stays in the strike zone. It’s the most effective way to cover water and catch more fish.

Fitted with an internal baritone rattle for the best possible sound performance, the Rapala DT10 Series Crankbaits takes attraction to new heights with premium finishes and 3D holographic or painted eyes. Finished with VMC black nickel hooks and tank tuned to swim perfectly straight out of the box, the Rapala DT Series Crankbait DT10 delivers a proven attraction that no crankbait collection would be complete without.

Comments: I made my mistake of showing introducing my best friend to crankbaits a couple years ago.......now he out-fishes me CONSTANTLY with the DT4/Red Craw color. The fish you catch on this in the rivers is SICK SICK SICK. I use the Shiman Sellus/Med spinning and 10 CX premium; on rivers its an incredible bait.

From: Jamie: IN 8/13/22

Comments: These are my go to crankbaits. I have the DT 6,8,10,14,16, and 20. And every single one of them catches fish. I love that these crankbaits aren't crazy heavy like a lot of other deep cranks, yet these still cast a mile. I mean the DT20 is 7/8 oz which is awesome. They have so many awesome colors. My favorites have got to be big shad and Ike's Penguin. I have not had any durability issues with these crankbaits. I don't slap my bait against the water to get the weeds off. I have never had a bait break. I do replace the hooks with triple grips. The hooks that come on the baits are ok, I just like triple grips better. They don't thump quite as hard as like the XD series from strike king. But I can always get bit on one of these and the more subtle thump I think helps with that. If you are looking for some good crankbaits, these are it.

From: Dylan: Minnesota 2/23/22

Comments: The DT16 in Penguin is the best big bass crankbait I have ever owned. I've been fishing crankbaits for 50 years. I have never had a bill break on this bait. I have had DT6's break banging them in the rocks. But, I have broken many brands of crankbaits this way. I'll also reiterate what others have said, do not slap your bait on the water to clear the hooks!!

From: Mark: St. Louis, MO 1/21/22

Comments: Unsure about them, these baits get water logged after time and sink for the price it should happen

From: John: Madison, WI 12/3/21

Comments: This is the bait I throw the most, simply becasue it works. DT6,10,14 is usually what I have on deck. Try to experiment what colors work better in the places you usually fish. The most successful for me is hot mustard. I wish Rapala brings the crawdad color back to the DT line up not only for DT20. I like that the color was brought back with the OTT Slim06.

From: Rafamar: Mexico 11/5/21

Comments: I have used Rapala DT series a lot. They have always caught fish. I smack them on the water to clear weeds off them as well, butI have never had the bill break off on me. I don't know if a lot of the commenters stored theirs in hot conditions because that can cause them to swell and become brittle. There's also the possibility Rapala may have had a bad batch.

From: Unknown 7/5/21

Comments: Great crankbaits for smallies on the Susquehanna river. During the summer months when the water is low, it's hard to beat the 4' and 6' DT cranks. One of my go to lures and they flat out catch fish. I throw them on 12 lb. Mono line.

From: Nate: Pennsylvania, 6/20/21

Comments: The Rapala DT-6 is a good crankbait that has really good action and floats to the top really fast. However, due to its balsa wood construction, it is very weak. I had some weeds on my DT-6 so I hit it on the water like I normally do with my baits to get the weeds off. Well, my bait broke in half, one side was sinking and the other was floating. All I had left was the clear plastic lip. Just be careful with this bait and you should be fine.

From: Gavin: Bellevue, WA 5/24/21

Comments: DT-6 is a go to all year round.  You need to take note of not leaving then any place to hot.  If you store them in your boat or garage they will bloat and crack.  I'll put up with any problem of them braking do to they just catch fish.

From: Dale: Santa Rosa, CA 2/12/21

Comments: Great colors and action, but horrible bill design. Consider changing your bill design and this will out sale most of your competition. The bills break way to often and if not checked you'll lose perhaps your personal best.

From: Jordan: Phoenix, AZ 1/12/21

Comments: Pro: They catch fish! Con: They break way too easily. They will break at the bill, and are not fixable.

From: Rob: San Jose, CA 11/30/20

Comments: The Rapala Dt 10 bluegill, and pumpkinseed definetly catch fish. I keep a rod and reel on the deck with one of these crankbaits on at all time. Castability in windy conditions is also a plus. The only modification I make is replace the original hooks with triple grip hooks.

From: Steve: Rockford, IL 10/03/20

Comments:  Just purchased a bunch of the new colour DT4's and well I am not impressed with the quality of them. I LOVE My Rapalas. The Paint schemes are great, just really great. But I just had 3 DT4's in a row have the bill completely pull out of the head of the baits. I DO NOT slap my lures when there is grass on them. Both the new Rootbeer Crawdads and one Citrus Shad had the whole bill come out of the bodies. Can't even re-glue them in even if I wanted to as a portion of the nose even came with it. Fishing sand flats with Eel grass and Hydrilla, so can't even blame it on knocking it off rocks. And these were right out of the packages. Not sure what I am going to do, DT4 and DT10's are my go too baits.

From: CD: Maryland 9/28/20

Comments: Well, I think I purchased the final DT6 that I will ever own. They do catch fish but for the price, the hang ups, and breaking off the bill I'm done with this piece of junk. If you want them to last don't make contact with objects.

From: Ken: Middletown, CT 5/4/20

Comments: I haven't had the problem with the bills breaking like others have stated, but I will say this is the worst crankbait I've ever fished around rock period! The only thing that I can think of that would hang up more would be to drag a bare treble hook. I've thrown this bait on Dale Hollow and Lake Cumberland, and it does catch fish but it can be maddening when it hangs up 10 casts in a row.

From: Tom: Kentucky 3/3/20

Comments: Not sure what is going on but I have a couple of DT cranks that are cracking from the bill, where the wood meets the plastic back to the tail on both sides (bill is still attached). I do not throw these at banks and not sure how they are cracking but they are. The quality of the material they are using are too fragile for landing on water I guess and I do have a very large stock pile of them so I hope they do not all do that. I guess only time will tell but I had two crack on me in three trips so far this year.

From: Robert: Midland, TX 2/24/20

Comments: The DT6 has been my go to crankbait all year. By far my most productive hard bait, however the quality has been disappointing. I've lost multiple lures , just this year, due to bills separating from bodies, with some of those being on their first trip to the lake. Rapala CS is quick to point the finger. Expect a bit more for a bait at this price point.

From: Unknown: Ohio 8/11/19

Comments: I love the baits and colors, however I will never buy another DT6 or DT4 as the bill keeps separating from the body. The last fish I caught went to flip it in the boat and it separated.  I have been using Strike King for the last year or so with 0 of these problems at all. Rapala will not get anymore of my $ u till this issue is fixed. And the Strike King baits are roughly $2 cheaper.

From: Travis: Akron, OH 7/31/19

Comments: The first day I used a DT6 the bill separated from the lure body mid cast. I was disappointed when the lure broke, but Rapala Customer Service's expectation of me to pay to ship them the lure and wait 4-6 weeks for a replacement was the greater disappointment.

From: Unknown: Fayetteville, AR  3/4/19

Comments: These have a time and place in my arsenal but the quality has gotten extremely poor. The bills break and the glue holding it on separates. I've had one split in half, several including one new out of the box come unglued. For the record I do not slap my lures on the water to clean the trash off them and for the price I expect a better product. Currently seeking another brand of wood lures to replace these with.

From: Malcolm: Texas 2/6/19

Comments: I have used the DT 10 "Bluegill" for past 15 years on my annual Mexico bass fishing trip and have tried dozens of other deep driving crankbaits thru out those years and that particular color and lure produces every year.  Granted the fishing pressure is not there and you can use a variety of baits and lures and catch fish all day long, but that DT10 out produces all other baits by a 4 to 1 margin. Right out of that box, that lure is ready to go, no tuning needed and there is a lot of rocky structure that I consistently strike with that lure and it holds up to a lot of abuse.  If I don't lose one because of snagging nets down deep, I can use that same lure for days. If you watch Kevin Van Dam with a crankbait and he's consistently throwing that lure, that's exactly what I am doing with that bait all day long.  I am ordering a few more for my next trip in March.

From: Dan: Colorado 2/3/19

Comments: I have spent a lot of money on a lot of crankbaits in a lot of sizes, shapes, colors, buoyancy, you name it.  At the end of the day I must say it is very hard to beat the DT series crankbaits by Rapala.  Have started the expensive task of replacing most of my other crankbaits.  However, will be keeping my Strike king and Lucky E Strike square bills and some SKT Lucky Craft medium depth cranks.

From: Brad: Bloomington, IN 10/20/18

From: Brad: Bloomington, IN 10/20/18

Comments: Rapala needs to recall or fix bills for future use on the DT16. They break at the same place each time, right behind line tie. No warning bill looks good, crankin along and pull in broken lip. Wait a few and your bait will float up--at least you can salvage the hooks off your $9 plug.

From: Unknown: 7/10/18

Comments: The LIVE paint schemes are out of this world. They really match the hatch. There are almost nothing like them for the money. Rapala really did a good job with the LIVE series.

From: Shawn: North Carolina 3/28/18

Comments: Don't slap the water at all trying to free grass or whatever it may be. These bills are breaking really easy lately. I had 4 in one day break on me. I guess the plastic bills are cheaper these days. I didn't use to have this problem.

From: Darren: North Carolina 2/19/18

Comments: An all around great bait and I really expect nothing less from Rapala. Nothing more you can ask out of a crankbait. It's durable, there is a wide variety of diving depths and colors, the paint jobs look great, and it catches fish. It's the only crankbait I use.

From: John: Pennsylvania 2/2/18

Comments: Mossy and Blaze are fantastic colors, and all around great baits. One word of warning though, since they are balsa wood they are fairly delicate. Avoid smacking the baits to clear off grass, they will break and you'll be left with just a plastic bill attached to your line.

From: Harry Richards: Tacoma, WA 10/28/17

Comments: Absolutely love these crankbaits. But beware after a couple trips of hard use banging off of rocks and hard timber it is best to retire these baits. They get small cracks and begin to soak up water and they break very easily. I figured this out the hard way when a 5+ pounder jumped and broke my bait right at the boat. Have had this happen multiple times. But overall and absolutely amazing crankbaits for the price.

From: Chandler: Texas 10/15/17

Comments: These things flat out catch fish. The bluegill and the perch seem to work best. Seems like I have caught everything from pike to catch fish and bass.

From: Matt: Ohio 9/22/17

Comments: I have been throwing the DT series crankbaits for years and have never had an issue with the bills breaking or cracking or any problems whatsoever. The DT 10 is one of my favorite baits to throw and I own dozens of them that are responsible for literally hundreds of fish in my boat. Great crankbaits.

From: Mark: Wisconsin 7/17/17

Comments:  I'm new to the crankbait world but after reading some reviews bought a couple. I only have 4-5 different colors but out of those I can say that the Bluegill DT6 has never left me skunked.  I have it in a few sizes and last four trips its been my go to when things aren't working & I also get a fish. With all the good I also have some bad I did have a lip bust off one but since lure floats I got it back. All in all I am happy with this purchase if you are thinking about trying one go for Bluegill. Its worked in clear and stained water for me

From: Jeremiah: Wichita, KS 3/26/16

Comments: I've used the DT series for years because they are a great crank bait. I can also say that the quality has dropped over the years. The lip has become too brittle & takes little nothing to cause them to snap. I have moved on to Spro's lil john series of crank baits. Spro is more expensive but the quality is much better than the DT series.

From: Jason: Virginia 12/14/15

Comments: There a time and place that most cranks excel. I am a huge fan of several brands. Most are plastic. However, the subtleness of the DT series makes this lure effective in a wide range of temps. All DTs have this special swagger. The DT 6 is such a work horse for me & the flats and fats are near & dear at certain times. When they are passing on your old stand by cranks, don't move your boat before trying a DT series. If your slapping balsa lures, you need more help than any of us can give you.

From: Butch: Champion, OH 11/6/15

Comments: I love the DT series. Have caught a lot of fish off of them, especially in the bluegill color. Haven't had any durability issues and I pound these off rip rap and rip them through grass. They cast a long ways for their weight, and actually run about 2 feet deeper than advertised on a long cast with fluorocarbon.

From: Tyler: Grand Junction, CO 5/23/15

Comments: The DT line up of crankbaits, are my go to crankbaits. These baits are all made out of balsa wood, and vmc hooks. They are a little lighter than I prefer, but still catches fish. My favorite color is the pearl gray shiner in the DT 6 size. I have never had a bill break on one of these baits, and I have used these many times. great baits !!

From: Mitch: MN 2/5/15

Comments: Rapala has done it again! Great line up of baits. I normally fish the DT4 and DT6, and they work great, never had any trouble with the hooks, and these baits are not expensive for crankbaits. The balsa wood in the baits is also nice. I like the pearl gray shiner color 5/5 GREAT baits, highly recommend

From: Mitch: MN 1/4/15

Comments: Look, I bought these cranks when they first came out. Had the problem with the bills breaking off. called the company Rep...got the info about not slappin the lures on the water to clean them, but they also changed some things in the way they made the lure. I have one that I used JB Weld to put back together and it has never broken since. In my opinion, there is no other crank bait that will do to small mouth and large mouth what the DT-series will do. I currently hold a B.A.S.S. record for the biggest large mouth caught in one tournament's history, and it was on the DT series crank.

From: Carlos: OH 12/31/14

Comments: I discovered these JUST before ole Randy won the classic on them. Yeah, size 6. It's a sick little crankbait that gets down there. No durability issues for me, but that doesn't mean they don't happen. Stop slapping your baits on the water to clear em, first off.

From: Jay6: USA 9/23/14

Comments: These lures are great. Durable, casts well, hooks are good, paint/finish is durable, Made of Balsa wood so it has great buoyancy. I've caught them on the dt 14 and dt 16. Parrot and Bleeding olive shiner are great. Not real sure who the guy below is referring to. Who is SAM?Either way he doesn't seem to know what he's talking about. Rapala makes a great product.

From: Tim: TX 9/16/14

Comments: This lure is garbage. I ordered one from Sam and it had multiple problems. The main problem was that the hooks were inside out. I've tried to contact Sam through phone and email and I haven't gotten anything back yet. It's been 4 months now. Waste of money and horrible customer service. Spend your money elsewhere.

From: Clay: AL 3/8/14

Comments: I've used the DT-10 in the Bluegill color to crank the deeper parts of my local lake.  It is very well sized and casts well.  I also like the SureSet hooks.  Very solid bait.

From: Ethan: Charlottesville, VA

Comments: I beat these things to death and never had a problem with them breaking. I fish in lakes with rock and grass using DT 20-16-10 and ware out the fish

From: Dave: Columbia MD

Comments: I fish deep highland impoundments without grass and I can barely get a good day of cranking in without breaking at least one. I like the dt series but I'll stick with the xd's. cheaper too.

From: Robby: Knoxville TN

Comments: These are great. The bill has not broken. I've caught a 6lb bass on it which is the biggest bass I've caught

From: Tom: FL

Comments: The DT series have been more consistent than other Rapala's I have fished in the past. They are apparently so realistic that crappie bite them. Found a few crappie holes with these baits due to braid and G Loomis rods. I must add I have never broken a lip.

From: Hank: Hurst, TX

Comments: I have been fishing the DT's for several years and like the bait...however the bills will break pretty easy. It was not from salpping the water with the bait or abuse.  The sad part is that I lost fish due to the bill breakage! The slapping of the bait on the water to clear grass is a factor with some breakage however; not everyone out there using them are slapping the water. The bill should be redesigned in my opinion.  I no longer use the DT's due to this problem.

From: Bill: Batesville, AR

Comments: I troll these all the time, with a heck of a lot of bottom bouncing with braid line. I believe in over 5 years I have broken one plastic lip. These are about my favorite for deep diving (DT16) and the only problem I ever have is with the hooks bending on snags (not fish). Strike King 6XB will dive deeper, but the fish seem to prefer the action on the DT16s.

From: Scott: Raleigh, NC

Comments:
Alright, let's put this issue to rest about the bill...99% of you that are breaking the bills are slappin the water with it to get the grass off, and if you had talked to the company rep as I have, he'd tell you, I'm going to tell you, and nearly every tackle shop owner in the area will tell you don't slap the water with the DT...it's balsa wood glued to a plastic pin. I won't take that type of abuse, and that is the right word, abuse!!! If you pick it off it will last longer than your line can hold it. Now I have never found any other crank I'd rather throw than the dt series... nuff said believe what you want, but I challenge you to stop hitting it and see hold long it will last. I win tournaments with the DT because of the suspending nature of the bait.

From: Cliff: Columbus, OH

Comments: I like this bait. It has a unique rattle with the balsa construction, and a nice wobble to it. It sucks for fishing grass, but is good at deflecting rock and brush. However...these baits have the weakest bill I've seen. Which is why I won't fish them in grass. I've broken 3 of these baits over time, all at the base of the bill when I was ripping them out of grass beds or slapping them lightly on the surface to remove grass. I guess its good they are $5, but it still sucks to lose a bait to shoddy QC standards. That said, this is still a good bait to have if you are fishing rock or brush.

From: Chris

Comments: Shad has been my best color. It will catch anything that swims. Hooks are ultra sharp and bait holds up great bashing it against rocks. At 5.99, its a homerun.

From: Alex: NC

Comments: How well do this crankbaits deflect off rocks when casting them? Thanks

From: Jon

Comments: I like the DT16 for summer cranking.  It is a high quality bait.  I use 12 pound flourocarbon line.  Works well on Jordan Lake, NC and Falls Lake, NC.  Pearl Grey Shiner works very well.

From: Dan: Cary, NC

Comments: I've had nothing but success with these, from the DT-4 to DT-6 and DT-10. The SureSet rear hooks tend to snag more than regular trebles, and I've bent a bunch of 'em in the rocks. That's the only negative. Just replace them, no sweat.

From: Erik: Bakersfield, CA

Comments: another Rapala bait that hasn't produced for me. All I hear about are dudes losing fish cuz the bill breaks. Ive actually found one floating in the lake without the bill. Save your duckets and buy something that works. Um, NORMAN comes to mind.

From: meaWAd: hurricane alley

Comments: this is a great crankbait i've done real good with the dt10 parrot has gotten to be my go to bait. runs really well. your not suppose to hit your crankbait on the water to get grass off of them anyway will cause them break or run out of tune no matter what brand.

From: Chris: AL

Comments: DO not slap agasint water to get weeds off broke of so many bills doing this and catching fish ill stick with strike king kvd series

From:  Jacob: Monona, WI

Comments: I have a couple of DT 4's and one DT 6.  In January I was catching them with the DT4 in the blue shad color.  These cranks work great.

Comments: Best crankbait for me period. For the last 2 years of local tournament fishing here in Oklahoma, this bait has affectionately been nicknamed "Old Faithful" by myself and my fishing partner. The parrot, red craw, and shad colors have won/placed more tournaments for us than any other lure in our arsenals. Multiple 3lb to 6lb  largemouth bass are the norm when these lures are tied on. Very durable, and never need tuning, the DT6 has been the best for me.

Comments: i own several dt6's and dt10's and have had success with both sizes. they are very realistic looking baits, and have pretty good action. i have noticed the bills are a tad flimsy, but i have never broken one off to date. i am somewhat careful to try not to run them into rocks, trees, etc. for fear that they may break. either way, they are solid producers for me.

Comments: This is an overall good lure. Lip hasnt broke yet and dark crawdad color catches fish.

Comments: The DT series let you know the running depth and the variety of sizes allows switching lures to cover different depth ranges. The bassÕs primary bait fish forage in the lake I frequent is bluegill and the Bluegill color DT is very realistic and effective, running true whether slow cranked or burned. If visibility is on the lower side, I go with the slightly brighter Shad color.

Comments: I would agree with the other comments that the quality of the bill is not the greatest. Ive had many of them explode which really makes you mad that you spent that money. however, i have caught far more walleye and smallies which exceed the bad. i would recommend them just watch where your casting. if you bank it off the wall during a catch or pitching your going to be using a bill as bait and thats it!!!

Comments: This Rapala DT Blue Gill is one of the best crank bait lure I've used so far. Anywhere I go from lakes, ponds, and rivers was a gauranteed hit. These largemouth bass love em! As soon as you cast out, reel it in fast and pause for a few sec than jerk it. The bass would go nuts!

Comments: That crankbaits is great for walleye and northern pike. I do have between 140- 160 of the DT 16. Of course it happens that they stuck in between the rocks, but I had none of them breaking up.

Comments: went fishing for tiger musky,s with these lures they just flat out work awesome but did have 5 get off but big fish do that  its just part of the game

Comments: I have had great success with this crankbait. I think the action and finish of the bait is spot-on. However, I have never had a crankbait break in half, or have the bill break off--like I have with the DT-10's.  I have had at leat 6 of these baits break just by slapping them on the water to get off muck or grass.  I also have never had a crankbait hang in rocks as bad as these do.  Lost two this past weekend, when I can throw a Norman or a Storm in the same rock and loose zero baits.  These are good baits, but something about the position of the line tie, or the design of the bill makes them hang in rocks like no other.  Even lost two lure knockers trying to shake them free.

Comments: I use to love any rapala crankbait, but after I have used these i was very disappointed, not because of the action or fish catching ability, but simpley of the poor qualty. I have had a number of them breaking or just bursting. I just wish rapala would start making them with with wire running trough them again.... will never buy one again... norman lures and strike king are much much better.....

Comments: I was up on Table Rock Lake on 10/12/2010 and caught  a largemouth @6lb 10oz. and a 4lb 3oz. smallie using the shad color crankbait! Some of the best crankbaits in my boat! Several other Kentuckys were caught on this bait as well.

From: Michael: Ripley, TN

Comments: This is a great crankbait for both Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass. I have caught several largemouth in the 5lb range on the bluegill color. The action on these crankbaits is great. These are my go to crankbaits.

Comments:Best crankbait for the money. The DT series have great action and finish. The best performing bait in my tackle box season after season. Other baits such as Fat Free Shads, Bandit and Manns don't come close.
