Comments: I just got a Shimano Sahara 3000 spinning reel & it looked a little small right out of the box & the bale was i little thin. I took it out to use it for a sabiki & it did its job. There were a few bonito around the boat so i took a piece of sardine & hooked up, it was a very fun & challenging fight but it got the 15lb bonito up to the boat. It is a very stable & powerful reel for the size of it.

Comments: I've had a Sahara 2500 for 5 years. Used all year, every year. Never had a single problem. It just works. I have more expensive reals like a Quantum Smoke & Pflueger Supreme XT & have had minor hiccups with those like the bail not closing without rotating the rotor a little first. The Sahara is easily forgotten while fishing because it does its job & I don't have to pay attention to its operation. It's not very light compared to the others or as quiet as the others but that kind of stuff doesn't really matter when reeling in a fish.

Comments: I bought this reel about 3 years ago, and I am totally impressed!! I have three Spirex, a Sedona, and a Sonora, and all of these reels work excellent. This reel has amazing feel and very smooth drag. For the $$, this is a quality reel. Highly recommended!!

Comments: I recently bought a new Sahara & it worked very well the first five times I used it. It was tight, smooth, excellent drag, zero problems casting braid. Halfway through a smallmouth trip this past tuesday, the reel began binding up on me. What started out as a little roughness that required some extra effort while cranking during a retrieve, a minor nuisance, became seriously frustrating when I had to exert way more force on the handle to start or keep a retrieve going. It got really bad by the end of the day. I'm disappointed and cannot recommend this reel. **Update 5/22/16** I wrote a negative review on my new Sahara reel last June. Tackle Warehouse replaced that reel with a new one, which I've been using since last Summer. I have a lot of hours on it, including many in the rain and on whitewater rivers where it's gotten wet. So far, I have not experienced the binding problem the original reel had. I am satisfied with this reel's performance and very happy with Tackle Warehouse's customer service. **Update 9/13/16** I really don't want to be writing this -- my third review of my Sahara reel. The one I originally bought in 2015 was replaced by TW after using it less than one year due to a bad problem with binding. The replacement reel, which I received at the end of last Summer, was working well until last weekend when I fished with it during rainy day on the River. The new reel started binding up just as the original one did. And again this problem has developed after less than one year of use. Tackle Warehouse instructed me to contact Shimano about the problem. Now I am sending the reel back to Shimano and will be without it for who knows how long. I have lost a lot of confidence in this product and feel frustrated and disappointed.

Comments: I used to love this reel. Then one day, I was portaging from a giant lake to a tiny pond know for its perch fishing. It started to rain, and once I got there, it was pouring. Naturally, I still went out on the water. After a few perch (14"+) the reel became very rough. After a few more, it locked up. This same problem has happened to all my Shimano reels. I will not be buying Shimano anything ever again. Great Service Tackle Warehouse!

Comments: This real is great, its super smooth very light and also durable. i have had it for about a year and have fished it in mayn diffrent waters and still stayed smooth. Fish drop shot and texas rigs mostly with it paired with a shimnao clarus drop shot rod couldnt ask for a better set up. I have even taken it shore fishing and caught a 7 pound black drum and it handled great. still running smooth!!

Comments: I found some of these rods at a discount store in Somerset, KY, a few years ago. I had never fished any Wright-McGill rods before, but the fishing supply store had these rods priced so low I couldn't pass up the chance. I purchased the "Tessera A"/Jerk Bait/Topwater model. This is a very versatile rod that can be used for small to medium crankbaits also.   I've had the rod for three years, and I have never experienced any durability or quality issues. I mounted a Shimano Curado cranking reel on this rod, and the balance is incredible! Great product and an unbeatable value!!!

Comments: Bought it a couple weeks ago and couldn't be happier. Shimano always sells quality products from the Sienna up to the Stella. I have the 2500fe with 10 lb power pro and I use it for light jigs for redfish and trout and even some little snook in the Florida flats. I'll definitely be buying another!!

From: Drew: FL 5/16/14

Comments: I am extremely happy with this reel. It incorporates many top of the line features and is offer at an intermediate level price point. I am yet to have a problem with my Sahara and I wouldn't hesitate a second to buy another, or recommend it. Another great product! Great Job SHIMANO!

Comments: I bought 2 of these a while back. I have been VERY pleased. 80 dollar Shimano reels are like 125 dollar reels of the competitors. Minus the line twists. Casts great, drag is good. Great value. I will be buying more!
