Comments: I have 3 Avids and a 2 Premiers. The Avids are a lot lighter and a little more sensitive, but the Premier is also one of my favorites! I have landed monster fish on both and tested them many times against snags as well. Never broken one. I fish open water all winter in Michigan and these rods are great.

Comments: It is the best rod that i own, I will soon have three of these two on a spinning reel and a Baitcasting combo. I love em. The are very reliable when reeling in the monster fish. They are very sensitive at the tip and i like that. I have brought in 22 in 8 pound largemouth, 20 in smallmouth, 36 inch Northern Pike, 28 in Walleye and a 45 in 25 pound muskie on them so i have put my trust in them.

Comments: I have 3 of these paired with shimano and Pflueger reels and they really are great rods. One big thing i have to give st. croix props to is there unmatched warranty and customer service. Another big thing that is important to me that this company does, is not discontinuing old models they come out with a new model and keep the old. I fell in love with the premier even being the entry level rod i think it is better than the IPC blank on the AVID. All in all the avid is a great rod both spinning and baitcaster. Though you have to like the "power hump" design on the casting model. try this rod you will not be disappointed
