Overview

Winner of Best of Show - Freshwater Rods at the 2016 ICAST Show, the St. Croix Legend Glass Crankbait Casting Rods are designed specifically for fishing crankbaits and other reaction baits. Featuring lightweight, super premium 100% linear S-Glass blanks, they offer the precise moderate actions you need to cushion the strike and keep fish pinned with moving baits. Fuji K Series Concept Tangle-Free Guides with Alconite rings provide increased casting performance, and are ideal for super braid, mono, and fluorocarbon lines. The sloped frames and rings also “shed” tangles before they become a problem.

Fuji ECS Reel Seats on most models (LGC711HM has Fuji PSS-SD Palming Reel Seat) provide a comfortable base for your reel, and split-grip, super-grade cork handles balance out each rod perfectly. Featuring a classic look and the latest in glass blank technology, the St. Croix Legend Glass Crankbait Casting Rods are in a league of their own.

Comments: Handle lengths are way to long. No reason for it. Not using these rods in flag pole holders. Otherwise glass rods are the bomb for crankbaits.

From: Anthony: AZ 4/23/23

Comments: Bought the 7'4" MH for mid to deep diving crankbaits as well as throwing lipless crankbaits. Have only used it once so far but that day turned out to be great putting around 20-25 LMB and 4-5 stripers in the kayak. I threw an LV500 the entire day and was not fatigued at all. The rod is big and was a little worried at first that it may a little too heavy for throwing lipless crankbaits all day, but I can confidently say this rod will not wear you out. Once the fish were hooked, they did not come off and it felt is if they were stuck to the lure with super glue and no matter what I did, they weren't going to come off. Love the parabolic bend this rod has. The only con I have is the sensitivity is lost with it being a glass rod.

From: Vince: Arizona 12/29/22

Comments: I have the 7'4" MH for medium to deep diving crankbaits and it is amazing. Soft action for fighting fish and keeping them pinned with trebles, but more than enough backbone to lean into fish down deep or on really long casts. Great quality as is to be expected with St. Croix rods. Sensitive and strong. I find myself buying different rods and reels frequently because I like to explore the options that are out there, but this one will be a hard one to not buy the entire series?

From: Garrett: MO 12/23/22

Comments: Bought the 72 medium 72 heavy and 711 heavy. Actions on blanks and guides are nice. Sensitivity is horrible! Can't feel anything. I have used a ton of different glass rods and these may be the least sensitive glass rods I've ever used. If they don't like drive the bait you don't feel the bite. Not worth the money

From: Pete: Guntersville, AL 4/29/22

Comments: If your an old timer like me, you will love the 7'2" med/mod. I still have a Fenwick lunker stick bought in 1972 made of fiberglass. With this St. Croix Legend Glass, it brings back a lot of memories on Table Rock, Truman and many power plant lakes in IL using crank baits. This rod is way better, lighter, and quality made. Just like the Fenwick, it will last a life time.

From: Henry: Foristell, MO 10/7/21

Comments: Have 2 Legend Glass Rods & 4 mojo bass graphite rods.  I use a Med glass spinning rod & a Med heavy glass bait caster the most.  Love the weight & balance.  Both cast a mile.  More importantly, you don't lose bass on a heavy hook set. .

From: James: Charleston Illinois 3/4/21

Comments: Very pleased with this rod so far. I got the 7'2 H with plans to use it mostly for chatterbaits and larger squarebills. I took it out last weekend and caught two on a chatterbait. The rod loads really nice and has a moderate taper despite being a heavy action. The components of this rod look to be premium from top to bottom. The guides, hook keeper, and reel seat all look and feel great. The rod is a little heavy (which you would expect for a glass rod), but still lighter than many other glass rods I've had.

From: Matt: Florence, KY 10/20/19

Comments: I have the 7' 2" medium action and have been using it with a bladed jig.  I can not over say how much I like this set up.  I like it so much I am going to add the 7' 4" MH.  I will determine which one feels best with the 1/2 oz jackhammer that I like to throw.  This rod is a joy to fish with....  I will pair the remaining rod with a spinner bait or crank bait.  I really like this rod/lure set up.

From: Unknown - 9/3/19

Comments: Was finally able to test drive this out on the water. 7'4 MH. When I first picked up this rod I was shocked because it is very heavy just in general. Was tossing 1/2oz chatterbaits and then some of my doubts were erased. The whole rod vibrates and transfers everything into your hand. I have held Mojo Glass/ Dobyns Champion and this by far had the best sensitivity and action. Just feels like a telephone pole in your hand.

From: Gary: Michigan 8/13/19

Comments: I bought the 7'11H for deep cranks. Wow! The action is perfect and the rod feels great in your hand, not tip-heavy like I expected. I ended up also throwing A-rigs with this rod and it blew me away with those as well. I'm hopping to add the 6'10 and 7'2 models to my arsenal soon.

From: Cole: Virginia  1/13/19

Comments: I bought the 6'10 and 7'2 models and I didn't know what to expect since there are limited St. Croix rods available in my area for me to demo.  I am a Falcon guy but they don't make a glass rod (just composite) and I prefer glass when I am cranking.  I have been using the old Lamiglas Skeet Reese glass rods and I really love them but I can't find them anymore.  When my rods arrived I was overwhelmed by the quality.  Great taper, good guide placement, and the balance is almost perfect.  It took me a while to really figure out how to get the most out of them, but use a two handed cast and accuracy becomes effortless.  The shorter butt end of the rod with larger butt cap almost makes you cast with both hands.  Once I did that there was zero torque and my casts became more fluid.  The rods handle every lure I used with them and though they are glass they still allow for great feel so train yourself not to jerk the bait away and let the rod do what it was meant to.  I will probably get the longer rods for deeper cranking eventually but I am happy with my purchase and highly recommend.

From: Matt: Broken Arrow, OK 6/17/18

Comments: I have caught a few smallmouth and largemouth on my new 6' 10" Medium and it a fantastic rod! I paired it with a 5:1 Lew's BB1 and the combo will throw even a small 1.5 crank a long way!!! It has no problems throwing a 2.5 (a REALLY long way!). The rod is nothing short of  beautiful. It is a lot lighter than I expected and is very sensitive. You can feel every wobble of the lure and there is no doubt when a fish hits!. If you have been considering this rod, go for it! You will be glad you did.

From: Andy: Winona, MN 5/11/18

Comments: I bought the 6'10 and 7'2 rods. They are beautiful and have the perfect actions for fishing crankbaits. For being glass they are very light and surprisingly sensitive. I plan on ordering the 7'4 MH in a couple months. St. Croix hit a home run with these, nicest cranking rods I've ever seem or used.

From: Kevin: Louisville 2/21/18

Comments: I have the 7'4 inch version. I have thrown bladed jigs for years. I could never find the right rod/reel combo. Then I bought this rod. It is amazing for bladed jigs. The best glass rod I have ever owned.

From: Anthony - Modesto, CA 11/30/17

Comments: I ordered the 6'10" medium.  It is aesthetically one of the best looking rods out there.  I was using all graphite and composite rods to this point but wanted to get back to fiberglass somehow and St. Croix made this realistic because they didn't force the angler to make any sacrifices in weight and components.  I'm totally satisfied in how this rod works cranks and nothing beats that slow return from a parabolic bend like fiberglass.  You know when you hit a stump and that bait stays in that same strike zone for a longer period of time it gives the fish a chance to grab and go.  All my other crank rods just made me feel like I was ripping baits away from fish.  Those rods are gone and I fully intend on continuing towards building my crank arsenal with these alone.

From: Steven: St. Louis, MO 9/20/17

Comments: I have the 7'2" medium and its a great rod. You can sling crank baits a mile with it and it is much more sensitive then I thought but it really shines once you hook up with a fish. I caught several bass on just one treble hook and I believe with my old rod I would have lost them for sure.
