Comments: I like high quality equipment. I own high end rods by the company that starts with a G and the one with a K. My very first premium rod was a Legend Xtreme. I added other premium rods later. As it stands now, I will add more of these to my arsenal over time. I haven't used everything out there, but I've used enough to be convinced that these are the best. Never broken one and never had any issues with construction. Other manufacturers rods have been light, sensitive, good rods - but issues with poor manufacturing or breakage have left me disappointed - and one of those rods was MORE expensive than these, a custom rod. I don't think you will regret buying one. Expensive? Yes. But maybe the best rod out there!
Comments: Just amazing like any product St Croix makes. I don't understand the big deal of no hook holder. I grew out of fighting with them along time ago and mount all my lures on the top rail of my baitcaster. The rods sensitive, tough, and good looking. What more could you ask for?

Comments: The bad news: no hook holder The good news: THIS ROD IS UNMATCHED: Xtreme sensitivity, Xtreme power, lightweight, great design, handle feels great when casting, and I guarantee this rod will will last me a life time. I had never owned a St. Croix rod, but after getting ahold of this work of art (Made in the U.S.A.), I'm now hooked on St. Croix. The 7'4" Heavy rod sets the hook with authority and I can feel everything that my jigs come across. Even the softest strike from a bass is distinctive. What more could someone ask for? As I said previously, this rod is on an entire different level and are more than worth the money. I highly recommend this rod.

Comments: Not a big fan of the new handles. If its not broke dont fix it. Go back to the old way. But all in all good rod.
Comments: A rod to "catch fisherman" more than help you catch fish. ST. Croix Makes excellent rods, they truly do, BUTTT their pricepoints are HIGHLY over-priced. I can just about guaranTEE you that St. Croix makes the highest profit-margin of any company. Their cost-to-manufacture vs. retail price-point ratio I'd be willing to bet would blow you away. They highly over-price their stuff it's just the truth. The Extreme's are not $400 rods...they're not going to fish twice as good as a phenix M1 or 3x as good as a powell...They won't fish 4x as well as a Veritas...The Legend Extreme is a 270-300 rod caught in a 380-420$ rod's body. Easily over priced by more than 100$. The Legend Elites are also great rods...but I know many rods in the 150-200$ range that will fish as well, some even out-fish the Legend Tournament rods...The new Kistler KLX Rods are the best rod on the market period. As far as "bang for your buck"...the fact they can offer that rod @ 160-180$ is insanity...It's because it's SUPER PLAIN...not built to catch the fisherman but built to catch fish. It is MATTE BLACK w/ NO LABEL except between the split grip...no fancy logo's, no fancy wrap colors (straight black), No gimmicky color'd blanks w/ glossy (de-sensitizing) and unnecessary clear coats. Just an INCREDIBLE rod, so light and so sensitive it's hard to believe, top notch cork, GREAT technique-specific actions, micro guides, fuji reel seats and a Gary Loomis North Fork Composite blank like you'd never imagine...The way they can offer em @ the price is because they took the wholesale out of it and gave us (the consumer) the wholesale price. If Kistler were to wholesale and distribute the KLX widely then they'd be wholesale pricing them to stores and websites for 160-180...then the store/website needs at least it's 30% margin so they'd be at least 260-275 for us, the consumer. Probably even more. It pisses some ppl off I'm sure and I'm bummed they can't let TW carry them since TW was just about the FIRST to ever carry Kistler years ago when they were the one's inventing and innovating stuff that is on virtually every rod today. The Open hook-holder, the no fore-grip design, the split grip... And now MICRO guides...recognize who pioneered this stuff. The new KLX rods I'd put up against ABSOLUTELY ANY rod on the Market...the NRX G. Loomis...this Extreme St. Croix...the steez...I can't imagine any of them noticeably out-shining the KLX. They fish like 300-350 rods without question...I mean 7' MH Rods weighing 3.5 ounces!?? C'monnn. Even Their Carbon Steel's are amazing weights and one of hte best in the 100-120 price range...38 million modulus graphite. The highest I know of being used in that range...Super light, super nice. Kistler's just the best out there, period.

Comments: st croix is my favorite rod company..the new legend extremes are not for me.. NO HOOK HANGER? i know just use one of the lower guide frames still a pain. micro guides? so much for using braid and tying on a flouro leader..new reel seat and grip also a no go. grip swell is too large and the coating on the handle provides very little traction.if i hadn't gotten this rod through a warranty claim there is no way i would pay 390 for it. it is very light and very sensitive and st croix has top notch service but overall i am very unhappy with the new extremes
From: Andrew: Indy
Comments: what was St.Croix thinking on a $400 rod to not have a built in hook keeper? Can't believe they wouldn't think to include that unless... Did I get a factory defect? Rod handle is the best feeling handle on any rod I've used and I have other St. Croix's, Loomis, and Dobyns rods. It is the best looking rod in my arsenal, very light and seems to be as sensitive as they come (haven't fished it yet as my water is frozen up in MN). Other than no hook keeper, these could be my favorite rods, but I'm looking to compare to a Loomis GLX or NRX. Don't hesitate to buy this rod other than trying to figure out where to hang your lure when storing it and not wreck the areas around the guides.
From: Jeremy: Minneapolis, MN
Comments: has disappointed me a lot, not as sensitive
From: Kevin: CA
Comments: These are the finest example of high end fishing rods on the Planet. they simply have "NO EQUAL" - Had them all....and rest assured- the St Croix Legend Extreme Rods are leaps and bounds over all other rods. Not to mention that this company actually wants to help you if you have a service issue...UNLIKE the others. No Names mentioned, but if you tried to compare in the very least- it would be a major fail. ST CROIX-All the way!
From: John: KY
Comments: SICK got a few rods early been in love for a while now unbelievable sensitivity it will make you not want to fish anything else!
From: Louis: Green Bay
Comments: Love St. Croix rods. But this one knock it out of the park. Have Curado 200e7 on this rod and feels so light. So light and balance its unreal. When you hook a big mama it hauls them like heavy muskie rod that feels like a tooth pick. Crazy. Saving up for another one. St. Croix does it again

Anyone who throws crankbaits knows it takes the right rod to really be effective. We want medium action rods that won't tear out hooks but not a noodle rod that can't set a hook or move a big bass. Many companies are forced to use fiberglass for their cranking rods because it is very difficult to design a 100% graphite rod that has the right action and power with out collapsing under pressure and shattering with a big fish on the line.
