Overview

Stanford Baits teamed up with Elite Series pro, Fred Roumbanis, to develop the one-of-a-kind Stanford Baits Boom Boom Frog. The only frog on the market that features Frogfur. This patent-pending innovation, located on the top of the Boom Boom Frog, greatly increases your hook up ratio. Frogfur snags a bass’ sandpaper-like lip, making it harder for them to throw the frog, resulting in more landed fish.

The Boom Boom Frog also features a diamond-shaped belly weight that is designed to not interfere with the razor sharp Mustad Wide Gap Frog hook. The weight system also allows the hook to extend out further on hooksets. Available in a variety of colors, the Stanford Baits Boom Boom Frog offers a host of key innovations designed to help you land more frog fish.

Comments: This is hands down the best frog on the market. It casts well, walks so effortlessly and due to the soft material, my hook up ratio is crazy high for a frog. I like the idea of the frog fur but can't say if it helps because I am usually digging this frog out of their gullet, but the idea is good and it can't hurt. I live in east Texas where there is no shortage of grass and cover to throw a frog around, and I have tried them all. Spro and the others don't come close to this frog. If you are struggling with this frog, get the right rod or get tips on how to fish a frog because this one checks all the boxes of what a good frog should be.

From: Landon: Zavalla, Texas 3/11/23

Comments: Being from Texas and calling grassy lakes home, there aren't many frogs I haven't thrown. This is the best and my hookup percentage is insane. It casts great, walks easily and because it is a softer material that collapses easier than a Spro or other frogs, I generally boat fish that bite it. I can't say if the frog fur helps with that percentage because I'm usually digging it well past their teeth, but it can't hurt. If you're struggling and missing fish on this frog, get the right rod or learn to fish a frog because this is the juice.

From: Landon: Rayburn 3/7/23

Comments: I love the idea being the fur patch on the back, but unfortunately that is the only good thing about this lure. It's hard as a rock, has terrible action, and lands and swims upside down more.than 1/2 the time. Opened up another one to see if the first was defective but the r second one was exactly as crappy as the first. The action is just terrible and the 2 blow ups I did have on it did not get hooked. Worst frog I have ever used and I've tried a whole lot of brands over 35 yrs of being a frog enthusiast. This is coming from someone who has the signature Fred R. Frog rod and swimbait rod from Dobyns. So I'm a fan, but definitely not a fan of this bad design. Buy any other frog and it will work better than this mistake that went out to the market and shouldn't have.

Comments: Great frog. Excellent customer service. I ordered only 1 of these frogs to try and unfortunately upon opening the package, the tip of the hook was broken. I contacted Stanford and they were quick to send me a replacement frog along with a couple extra just for the inconvenience. I fished them all frog season last year and they are awesome. They have a great walking action and come through cover easily. Haven't had a single problem with the hooks on the new frogs. They are sharp and strong. And the fish hammer these things. I do like the new tech with the velcro strip and eye on the bottom. They can easily be replaced if they come off and still catch fish like any other frog if you don't want to replace them. You can get extra eyes on TW I'm pretty sure and it's not too hard to find extra velcro strips. If you see your velcro strip coming off just rip it off and re-glue it. This frog is worth it. Try one.

Comments: Two fish and the velcro pad was gone. Good idea but built poorly, a waste of money. Stick with the ones you know work.

From: Morgan: Waterloo 6/11/19

Comments: This frog catches fish and I love the features. However, after using it on a couple trips and catching about 10 bass the bottom eye is missing and the nose of the bait has ripped causing the nose to bend in and the frog slides up and dlwn the hook when presented with any pressure (lily pads/stumps/fish). Will probably buy a replacement to see if newer productions fixed this.

From: Montanaro: Fairmont, WV 6/4/19

Comments: This is possibly the best hollow bodied frog I have ever fished. So far I have caught every fish that has blown up on or just sucked it down. This has only been about 12 or 15 bass but I would typically lose several of these fish, also I have read some negative comments about this frog but so far I have not encountered any of the problems mentioned. I look forward to catching many more on it this year.

From: Ritter Ferguson: 2/25/19

Comments: By far the best frog on the market. I fished one from all summer long and it held up no problem. Lost count of how many fish I caught on it but it still has plenty of life left. Gonna throw it sinks!

From: Danny Delamater: 2/22/19

Comments: Living in south Louisiana we have a frog bite for about 8-9 months out of the year. I have used many brands of frogs and the Stanford frog by far walks easier than any other one i've used. The frog fur really helps with bass holding on to it. The eye on the bottom doubles as a dying shad in clearer water. All the features on this frog are superior to any I've used. Extremely impressed and have no reason to change frogs again.

From: James: Houma Louisiana  2/25/19

Comments: Fred really nailed this frog and put a lot of time and though into development of it. The Boom Boom frog walks with completely ease and the velcro patch on the top, helps the hook up ratio. Brilliant touch! I highly recommend this frog. You won't be disappointed.  I fish the Mississippi river a lot and my go to color is Mudbug.

From: Nicole Jacobs Stelmach: Minnesota  2/24/19

Comments: After trying this frog I couldnt be more pleased! My confidence has went through the roof with frog fishing. Ive tried several brands but I feel I get more hookups on the Boom Boom Frog!

From: Unknown 2/24/19

Comments: I picked up one of these frogs and broke it out for the first time over the weekend on Chickamauga.  I really like the look of this frog and the idea of the Velcro patch on its back and apparently the bass do too. I had several fish blow up on this frog and all of them held on and hooked up well. The eye on the bottom of the frog gives the bass a good target and the beefy hooks and stout line tie do their job. This frog walks extremely well (trim the legs) and I had no issues with it taking on an abnormal amount of water. Because of the heavy duty hooks and eye, the internal rattle and the external weight this a heavy frog that casts much farther than most other frogs. The only negative thing I can say is that because it is so heavy it makes more splash than other frogs when it hits the water. Overall I think this is a really good frog and as long as all of the components that make it stand out are durable this thing will be one of my go to frogs.

From: Jim - Kentucky 10/9/18

Comments: Bought a few of these frogs cause the concept looked great but after literally 2 cast the weight fell out and now it doesnt gets stuck on everything if it doesnt land bottom down I read reviews that said their customer service was great so I figured in would contact them but they only have an email from which I filled out and still haven't heard anything back! Save your money and buy literally any other brand these aren't worth the price

From: Unknown - 10/7/18

Comments: Amazing Frog! As well STANFORD BAITS has great customer service!! They stand by their quality products. If you have any issue, contact them! They will be happy to help.

From: JC - Georgia 9/10/18

Comments: Great frog walks well, not as soft as livetarget but still very good frog ! gets lots of bites

From: J: Canada  8/18/18

Comments: Worst frog I've ever owned and it wasn't even cheap. Weight on the bottom came off after 20 cast and also took on more water than any frog I've ever used. The only positive thing to say about this frog is it came with a nice hook that I will gladly put on a different brand frog.

From: Zach: Prattville AL 7/27/18

Comments: I had high hopes for this frog, so much I bought 6 of them.  However, I used 3 of them in a tournament this weekend and they do get strikes but the weights fell off within two fish each on the first 2.  The eye on the third one bent badly on a 10" fish and it was the first bite on it.  Maybe I just had a bad batch and it will get better with the next three.  I really wanted these frogs to be great because I love frog fishing but I was very disappointed.

From: Glen: Lufkin 7/24/18

Comments: Hands down one of if not the best Frog on the Market. This design is a Home Run ! Caught 30 bass last trip on it.. the fur is still on and it is still floating ! BOOM !

From: Fish N Fool: Lagrange GA 7/19/18

Comments: I do really like this frog.  Just know, duckweed and the Velcro top will drive you insane!

From: Sean - Iowa 7/7/18

Comments: Years ago this same patch could be found on culprit worms. Back when they took FS-454 off the market due to creating lock jaw in bass. The velcro patch wears out and mats up. Old is new. The frog is decent.

From: Gene Paplanus: Mo. 7/2/18

Comments: I bought two of these frogs to try since they are over ten dollars a piece. I decided to try them yesterday. Tied on the first one and after catching 4 fish with it the nose of the frog ripped through the point of the frog and it would slide down the hook when I cast it. I was really upset because the fish where choking it. Well I tied on my back up frog, first cast I get a bite. Catch about a 3 lb fish, however the legs of the frog were missing. Not at all happy about how the frog holds up. Tied on my SPRO frog and caught over 30 fish with one frog.

From: Iowa: 6/30/18

Comments: I loved this frog out of the package. Awesome features that are simple. However  After the first cast, the frog started to sink and was under water halfway back to the boat.  After  a few more attempts I had to take it off because it was useless. Looks like I got a defective frog because most people I know love their Boom Boom frogs.  On the plus side... I contacted Stanford and the customer service was amazing.  I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again because of it.

From: Chris: Michigan 6/29/18

Comments: I have a few of these.  Wondering if anyone else notices they fill up with water really easily, like a LOT of water.  Also they aren't super weedless since hte hooks come off the body a bit (increase hook-up ratio).  First one i got (diva) i had to pull through some reeds and it sliced open the body of it.  TWH is awesome and replaced it though so yay there.

From: Nate: Dallas 6/29/18

Comments: Was really excited about this frog and there is no denying it catches fish. It walked really well straight out of the package and it looked really good. However, after the first fish, the frog split at the hole where the hooks came through. It did float and didnt seem to be too affected by the tear. I caught about three more small bass before it completely disintegrated and the skirt came out. Pretty disappointed with how the frog couldn't hold up to more than a couple of fish.

From: Bradley: Opelika, AL 6/24/18

Comments: Mixed feelings about this frog...my review is based on a single trip to the delta The good: walks great, the frog fur is a great idea and so is the eye on the bottom, decent hook up ratio The bad: frog fur is ripping off already (after 3 blowups and 2 landed bass), the rear end where the legs connect has scrunched up (not sure why or how, only thing I can think of is being in the hot sun) and now the legs are crooked, due to crooked legs the frog is not balanced and flips over with hooks down on most casts (lots of time spent removing grass from the frog), at $11 a frog I feel it should be more durable

From: Fred: CA 6/21/18

Comments: I've bought a few different frogs, let me say this is the best. I got my first frog fish using this lure. It's super soft, walks with the smallest twitches, and the hooks are in the perfect location for a great hook up ratio without risking and weedless factor. Not to mention that if it lands upside down it will roll and correct itself. This is the PERFECT frog.

From: Cody - Southern California 6/15/18

Comments: Didn't live up to the hype for me.  The body is soft and the hook is positioned nice but there were a few things i didn't like about it.  1)  The eye of the hook is unlike any other i have seen, its like two hook eyes welded together, it is a large diameter line tie but and the wire is almost flat, the large diameter of the hook eye likes to grab grass, especially the stringy stuff like eel grass.  2)  it's only 3/8 oz, it still casts pretty good but for me the lighter weight doesn't skip as well as other 1/2 or 5/8 oz frogs.  3)  It has a tendancy to land upside down for me, it typically rights itself relatively quickly but often times it is too late, the hooks have snatched up some junk by then.  It doesn't do anything better than the "standard" frogs like spros, live targets, pad crashers ect, I give it a B-

From: Joe: La Crosse, WI 6/8/18

Comments: ordered several colors. got Diva in yesterday, 2 casts and somehow there was a hole in it so it just takes on water like no other. bummer. The way the hooks are, at least on diva, it can get caught up in stuff pretty easily.  The hooks aren't flush like a typical frog.

From: Nate: TX 6/7/18

Comments: Not a great frog. I fish heavy cover and within 2 hours and 5  fish, the carpet patch was almost halfway torn off and the weight at the back of the frog was gone. Save your money and stick with the originals.

From: Jake: Tacoma, WA 5/22/18

Comments: Sharp hooks, cuts sharp when u walk it. This frog does work. Only complaint I ordered a bunch and one came with some hooks hat were off center. Not a big deal I usually bend my hooks on my frogs out a hair  anyways for better hook up ratio. So I bent the off hook back to where I want it and went to catching.

From: Unknown Delta ca 5/11/18

Comments: The best walking frog I've used and I have used just about all of them. Walks great and best of all it doesn't fill up with water and sink like all the others.

From: Chris - Georgia 4/21/18

Comments: This frog is AWESOME. Super soft body, walks better than any other frog Ive thrown, doesn't sink, built in internal rattle, the body doesnt slide up the hook and rip open when you hook a fish, most importantly, it gets bites. Stanford and Boom Boom knocked it out of the park with this one. My new go-to frog for sure.

From: Mike: Lake Fork, Texas 4/1/18

Comments: They are the best hollow body frogs I've ever thrown

From: Jason - Broaddus, TX 3/21/18

Comments: I got to fish one of these with Roumbanis Central Open #1 last week and it is hands down the best frog I have ever thrown. Soft, doesn't sink and is so easy to walk. I've since ordered my own.
