Handcrafted from high-grade cedar grown in the Pacific Northwest, Stanford Lure's cedar top water bait, the Turbo Shad, is designed to resemble a wounded baitfish struggling on the surface. It’s dual props displace water to either side and produce a fish catching sound that’s been proven to call big bass up from any depth. On the pause, the Turbo Shad sits slightly tilted back toward the tail to ensure better hook ups, and the heavy duty props on both ends of the Turbo Shad easily come to life again with a slight pull. Available in a range of proven, hand-painted colors, each Stanford Lures Turbo Shad is 100% made in the USA, comes equipped with only premium components, and is hand-tuned by Dieter Stanford, himself.

Comments: If you've ever wanted a top water bait that had the noise of a buzz bait and the splash of a brick hitting the water, this bait is for you! I've been wanting to pull the trigger on a Stanford bait for some time. When this Turbo Shad became available for testing, I wanted to the first to jump on it. The videos on the bait were amazing. Being able to find good quality videos on a product before purchase is a big plus with me. After testing this bait for several days, I was so impressed, I can't believe I waited this long. I love top water. Next to a monster inhaling a jig, nothing beats the explosion of a bass on a top water bait. I normally only run top water in the summer time, but I couldn't wait that long to test this bait out. First impressions of this bait were great. It weighs in at 5/8 oz. comes with two #2 treble hooks. I have an email in to the company to find out the brand of the hooks. At the time of this review, I have not gotten a response. In my follow up video review, I hope to have the name of them. I do know they are super sharp. I have no intentions of swapping them out until needed. Bait comes with 2 large 1" long props. Both are super noisy but run very smooth. The Buster Bream color is amazing. I really liked the orange and yellow belly. It will stick out well in stain water. First cast of this bait, I noticed the bait sits right level on top with the rear dipping down. Looks like a bait fish coming to the surface. I started my retrieve and here is where the bait comes alive! The amount of water the props put off was very impressive. Squeaky and lots of splashing! Just want I want for a top water bait! In Central Oklahoma we have tons of Hybrid Bass and they tear top water lures up pretty good. I caught quiet a few and the paint held up very well. Props are very strong. Neither were bent with the heavy use. Over all I was very impressed with this bait. I gave it 5 stars all around except on price. Retail on these is 19.99. Pretty penny for most anglers. That said, this isn't a deep diving crank bait or a jig that's going to get hung up a bunch. Be care and it could very well last for years. With the action, color, quality and longevity of it, 20 dollars doesn't seem to bad. I have a top water popper I bought 14 years ago that looks like its 14 years old. Several hook replacements and its still running strong. I would like to see a few more colors available for this bait to open it up for more use, but it does come in 6 different colors. This should be enough to use it on most bodies of water and times of the year. I'd also like to see a feathered trailer hook. I've always had great luck with them. If your looking for a quality handmade top water bait that has amazing noise and water displacement, this is for you. Give it a whirl, you won't be disappointed.

Comments: Great running top water bait, I use 6.4 to 7.1 gear rat. The blades on this bait need a faster retrieve to spin correctly, when doing so it will create a small bubble trail behind the lure. I would recommend using your spinnerbait rod or somthing with good backbone for this set up, and hold your rod between the 5 and 6 o'clock position, when the fish hit.... Hold on, your in for a ride !!! Great lures thanks !!!! I also recommend having this ready for when you see schools feeding on balls of shad...the wont be able to resist !!

Comments: this lure smokes the brians prop bee and it cost a little less,AND IT COMES WITH HOOKS!!! Unlike the prop bee.this lure is made out of cedar with is more durable then balsa and cedar can stand up to water, balsa can't. I haven't used it enough to catch anything yet but I know when the summer topwater bite is on this will be deadly, now to see if it outperforms my kelly j.
