TFO Gary Loomis Tactical Drop Shot Casting Rods

$149.99 - $159.99

Offering a whole new level of technique specific performance, Temple Fork Outfitters teamed up again with legendary rod designer, Gary Loomis, to create the TFO Gary Loomis Tactical Drop Shot Casting Rods. By utilizing a new proprietary scrim in conjunction with TFO’s high modulus carbon fiber blank material, Gary was able to save weight and increase sensitivity without sacrificing strength. The blanks are also tastefully finished and polished with a thin layer of matte clear coat to enhance the natural luster of the fibers, and proprietary Tactical Series Guides with stainless steel inserts and frames offer 30% weight savings over standard SiC guides, as well as, advanced, super slick, saltwater-safe performance. Perfect for those anglers who prefer to drop shot with a baitcasting setup, the TFO Gary Loomis Tactical Drop Shot Casting Rods also feature TFO’s trademark color ID split grip handle for easy identification at a glance, and each rod is further complimented by a two piece reel seat and a natural cork ring split grip.

Comments: I use this rod with a Daiwa SV105 (10lb fluoro) for mainly drop shotting & also 2.8/3.3 Keitechs. I can easily cast 1/8 drop shots and tiny darter heads. The rod is better suited for open hook drop shots & light wire hook Texas rigs; you could probably use it on a shakey head, but the rod is very soft. I am sure this rod would work great for jerkbaits & light cranks also. I have successfully used it for the Duo80Gfix & Spinbait90. Overall a great, light, strong rod with a good value.

Comments: I have had one of the 7'3 rods for over a year now. This rod is fantastic! I have always been a Gary Loomis fan and clearly he brought the expertise to TFO. I am actually considering making TFO my brand of choice. This rod is a finesse rod and definitely not a all rounder. I fish it with 6lb or 8lb line normally on a drop shot, weightless lure of finesse jig. Great when fishing is tough or on high pressure days

Comments: I fished the GTS 733-1 with 4 - 8 lb test and the rod is fantastic.  I fished 1/2 oz dropshot rigs in depths of 35 ft on the St Lawrence Rver in upstate NY and also used it to fish 3/8 oz football heads dressed with 3.5 inch Keitech grubs for smallies in 12-17 foot over scattered rock bottom ledges adjacent to the main river channels. The rods fast tip drives the hook point home with either application.  During the month of December I used this rod to present 3/8 oz tubes in 9-12 ft for smallies on Oneida Lake. The rod  perfomed equally well as a jerk bait rod when presenting Lucky Craft Pointer 100s and 128s for smallies and walleye in water as cold as 36 degrees using 8 6 and 4 lb test. This new GTS rod's got a lof of power, yet enough tip to protect lighter test lines. This isn't just a dropshot rod, but it's certainly a must have for anyone serious about using baitcasting equipment for finese applications.
